Laura Lee is the USA Today bestselling author of sexy and seductive romance. She's best known for writing the Bedding the Billionaire series and the Windsor Academy series. She won her first writing contest at the ripe old age of nine, earning a trip to the state capital to showcase her manuscript. Thankfully for her, those early works will never see the light of day again! Laura lives in the Pacific Northwest with her extremely tolerant husband, two beautiful children, and some of the most ridiculously spoiled felines you’ll ever meet.

When she's not chauffeuring the kids around, writing, or watching HGTV, she probably has her nose in a book, with an iced matcha by her side. She's a sucker for spicy romances, always searching for new book boyfriends to add to her collection..

a LOW two stars...slightly spoilerish...

Weak, very weak; that's my assessment of this drivel. That's right I said it. I usually try really hard not to say insulting things. I know it's extremely hard to write even a weak book. I do. I'm sympathetic. But just about every aspect of this book and its main character grated on me.

Starting with the ridiculous attempt at regionally hip dialogue: “True dat, Bitches!” Ugh. This followed immediately by the cookie cutter caricature of a slutty BFF. I'm not slut shaming here. Eri seems really comfortable in her slut role, even giving instructions to dress sluttier, etc. More power to her. But as a character, she was beyond unidimensional. There simply wasn't anything else to her (or anyone else).

Then the movie comparisons started...and never stopped. It's a poor way to describe something or provide familiarity, but also a pet peeve of mine. Both because I no longer own a television or bother with Hollywood (so I often don't get the references and kind of resent the assumption that everyone will) and because it dates a book quickly. Plus, it just clutters up the narrative.

Just about the time I'd ground my teeth and persuaded myself to stick with it. I was blindsided by a series of instant and baseless attitude and character changes. One second two characters are cocky and hating each-other, the next throwing themselves at one another in sexual heat, then suddenly all shy and hesitant. So, enemies to lovers to touchingly sweet love in about an hour. Oh, and this happened more than once.

About that touching, all consuming love...There were two of them, for starters. And while I love a little ménage here and there, this wasn't that. It wasn't even a love triangle. It was just two men who for no apparent reason suddenly fell madly in love with one woman (on sight), were willing to do anything for her, and apparently didn't even mind the other. Hmm, I guess maybe that could have been a little further developed...maybe at all.

Even more confounding than the sudden, obsessive love of two sexy, powerful men who didn't know her from Eve was the question of why/how the vampire managed to overcome the bloodlust that plagued EVERY VAMPIRE THROUGHOUT DOCUMENTED HISTORY as if it was nothing at all. No explanation provided or even attempted. And if that wasn't enough to make me gnash my teeth, the question of why she would put herself into the position to find out he wasn't going to kill her immediately is. Hello stupid!

But stupid was a running theme for her. For example, being a fairy is supposed to be some big secret she's kept her whole life, but her slutty BFF knows and she's only been Karli's BFF for a year or so. Which means Karli couldn't have waited long to tell her the oh-so-big secret. She then easily (accidentally) revealed herself by displaying her powers to someone she just met. Shortly thereafter, she walked into a possibly dangerous situation and orders 3 double shots of vodka. Guess being clear headed isn't important or anything.

Could she really be that stupid? Yep, 'cause next Ms. Clutso sliced herself open in front of a vampire and let him lick it clean. (You know those vampires who almost exterminated her entire race for their blood, yeah, them.) Really. Not too careful, our MC. She basically approached Too Stupid To Live territory and camped out there.

Then there was the juvenile shouting, yelling, screaming, etc. Maybe this is just a symptom of the verbs the author chose to use, but it made everyone (but especially Karli) feel overly dramatic and tween-angsty. Especially since more often than not the circumstances didn't call for all the extra emotion. For example, she Karli didn't want to have a conversation with Vance (a perfectly reasonable one, BTW), so she screamed at him, slammed doors, tried to throw him out and eventually threw herself into idiotic danger with a smirk. Someone just go ahead and shoot this woman for me, please.

Add to all that the obvious attempts to add pointless titillation and I'm darned near toasted. As an example, one night after meeting Karli the detective asks her to accompany him to seek out a suspect (obviously proper police procedure, that). He then takes her to a sex-bar. This was pointless for anything but to showcase her apparent naiveté and allow for a whole boatload of sexual snippets. It was also almost too cliché (and over-used in PNR) to bear.

Plus, in an atmosphere of complete sexual nihilism there isn't a single non-hetero act to be seen and the whole scene seemed oddly male-centric, making even the women seeking their own pleasure feel like sex workers instead of equal-part satyric. Seems unlikely and mildly insulting.

This theme of pointless titillation continued in the make out sessions that leapt out of no where, but never actually went anywhere. This irked the hell out of me because they were so jarring, but also because it made the book feel very stop-start. Not to mention there was a whole heck of a lot of internal monologue-like fantasies, posturing, and petting and NO ACTUAL SEX. Seriously?!

Then I had to tolerate all of Leo's pet names: sweets, my sweet, dearest, my dear, love, my love, etc. (There were an endless supply of them.) This drives me crazy in general. I find them belittling. But here they were especially annoying since he and Karli had no relationship yet for him to so casually, use them. It felt false.

The writing itself was fine. I found it a little repetitive at times, as reader saw events and then characters relate that event to others. There were also a number of infodumps that made things feel clunky. But beyond my basic loathing for first person points of view the writing wasn't too bad.

To wrap this sucker up, I disliked this book. I hated the main character. I found her a weepy, bratty, juvenile woman. I probably would have liked the men if they'd been developed at all and if I understood where their obsession for Karli came from. But they weren't and I didn't. But as much as I disliked it all, it's almost all personal preference sorts of material. The nuts and bolts are there and another reader might (does, since there are plenty of great reviews of Pixie Dust out there) really enjoy it. Just not me, not me at all.

Favorite Lines “I had a feeling of absolute clarity in that moment. I knew, without a doubt, that this man…no, this vampire, was about to complicate my life in a major way.”

“I know you’re apprehensive, but you need to believe that you can trust me. You are obviously carrying a lot of weight on your shoulders, and I honestly think I can help you with that. I feel like I need to help you with that. I want to be someone you can lean on.”

“Men!” she huffed. “Can’t live with ‘em, can’t ride a cock without ‘em, huh?”

“Please don’t give up on me. Please give this some serious thought. I need you.”

I was super excited about this series when I read the blurb! I mean how could I not be it’s about fairies, vampires, demons, and magic! Woo woo!
Karli has lived her life in hiding, never letting anyone know what she is, except her best friend Erica. Poor Karli feels like she’s living on borrowed time though. As with any Faire she will reach her immortality at 25 with that comes her biggest problem if a vampire gets one whiff of her blood then they could drain you dry.
She’s heartbroken after finding out her half demon boyfriend was having an affair with not only one woman but hordes of them. Then while working one night she meets the sexiest vampire. Then later that night after a grisly murder she meets a so sexy Detective! How could a girl not go crazy! Between the murders and the men things are getting hot, heavy, and action packed. Some kind of demon is going around killing people and these are people Karli knows or works with. Between the murders and the triangle of love I enjoyed every page!
This was a great start for this series! The author sprinkled her fairy dust on me and I couldn’t put it the book down! It was very well written, I never found myself bored, I stayed up until 5 am finishing this book!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review

This is a very entertaining read. Those that have given poor ratings have missed the point of the book. This is a light, funny, engaging, and sexy book. The main character, Karli Lane, is cute, funny, and perhaps a little ditzy at times, but then she's very young and going through a hormonal and seemingly cellular change that no mere human could possibly understand. I find her to be a refreshingly strong, yet vulnerable, female lead. I don't understand how she could resist Vance Alexander, one of the lead male characters, a detective on the paranormal police force. He makes me want to melt. As for Leo, the lead vampire and owner of the club where Karli works, the attractions are (1) unfathomable wealth ( something I've bever been exposed to, but which has never been a huge interest for me) and a primordial draw between vampire and fairy due to a relationship created between the two at the time vampires were first created (merely something that merely has to be accepted as part of the reading process ... a suspension of disbelief based upon the explanation given in the book). This is not hard to accept as a lover of paranormal fiction in general, and one of paranormal comedy and romance in particular. I have believed much more, and for less reason in the Vampire Diaries. Anyway, I found this to be a great read, and I am looking forward to the release of the sequel. Great job Laura Lee!

A history of this, a little comedy and a little yellow, and there has been suspanse, mystery, action., It sex, in fact, Karli is equally attracted by the vampire detective but also by the beautiful scenes and you see them together are exciting and intense. The reading is very enjoyable and fun. In this first book, the author presents the protagonist and the world he lives but we must wait for the next volume to see how the story will evolve. Meanwhile, Lee leaves us with a lot of curiosity regarding the mysterious past of Vance and at the same time Karl looks like a character who has to grow, not to mention that as a vampire and Leo too much interested in Karli certainly surprises in store for us

Review: I was given a copy of this book by Sunshine and Mountains book blog for an honest review. I was captivated from the start! I loved this book! I got sucked into the story right away! I love books that pull me in and keep me going throughout the book! This book does have some vulgarity to it. But if you don’t mind that then you should check this book out! The characters are funny and sexy and make this book great! I love books that have paranormal and romance together. It just makes things more interesting! If you love that too, you should read this book! I think it would be cool to be the only fairy left in the world but if you don’t know what to do with it, it can be hard. And I wish Karli would have just chosen one or the other of the guys in her life. I hate when people go back and forth. Choose for goodness sakes! I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! I give this book an A!

I picked this book up because of an interesting summary and I got very disappointed. I've read the whole thing, though after first several pages I was ready to leave it. Main character is not only naive and incredibly annoying, her actions are often pretty stupid and completely inexplicable from a logical viewpoint (example: vampires decimated my race. Let's hook up with one without even a hint of hesitation!), and the secondary characters are not much better. Mr. Lee's writing also leaves much to be desired - it lacks coherence, and while I generally do not expect much depth from a paranormal romance book, here everything is so shallow it hurts. I also could not help but notice the punctuational errors, which were numerous, and noticeably lowered the comfort of reading for me.

What a cute book!! I read this in one sitting and was quickly texting all my friends to have them pick it up.

Karli Lane is the last fairy on the planet and works in a bar on the Vegas strip owned by a sexy vampire, who might or might not have purchased the bar just to be near her. Add in an even sexier cop who has the hots for said fairy and you have one hot book. But there is more...all would be fine in Karli's world with two hot men vying for her affections except dead girls keep piling up around her and it look like her ex-boyfriend might be to blame.

I loved this first in the series and am excited to read more from Laura Lee.

I really enjoyed Laura Lee's novel. The characters were funny and very relate-able even though they were supernatural. The only thing that irked me was Karli's indecisiveness with the men in her life. She easily jumped between the two of them, both emotionally and sexually. Now, don't get me wrong, I am a fan of love triangles, but enough already! I was dying for her to make a decision!!!

All in all, the plot was interesting (Vance/Leo love triangle, Karli's search for her history) and the tone was light and witty. I would definitely recommend this book. I already started the second installment of this series!

I was trying to find the words that I needed to state how very little I liked this book, but another reviewer did it for me, there are repetitive words, phrases, no character development or enhancement, the female protagonist is indecisive and uninteresting, childish and just downright tstl and she needs to be thought how to speak without using the word 'um' in almost every sentence and to use her inside voice instead of screaming, shrieking and yelling all the time, it shows a high level of immaturity. Leo's character was flat, I read all his lines in a monotone because to me that's how he sounded and Vance sounded brash one minute and like a lost puppy dog the next, gosh I wish I could get back the time I lost reading this..this....whatever

There was something about the blurb that really appealed to me in this review request.

*A lonesome fairy with no clue how to wield her powerful magic.

*A ruggedly handsome warlock torn between his past and his present.

*A five hundred year old, sinfully sexy vampire who's obsessed with solving the mystery of a particularly interesting bartender.

Karli Lane is the only fairy left on the planet. Vampires had driven her race to near extinction, causing the others to return to their homeland over twenty years ago. Orphaned at a young age, she was forced to hide her identity in a world full of exposed supernaturals.

Facing her upcoming immortality, her life has become a complicated mess. A new employer and a gruesome murder bring two incredibly complex men into her life, making matters worse. She finds herself riding a non-stop emotional roller coaster while trying to figure out who she is, how to control her powers, and most importantly, how to stay alive.

And as I started to read, I did enjoy our Fairy heroine, Karli Lane. Over time, vampires have driven the fairies to near extinction due to the fairies intoxicating blood. Before her parents could hide Karli in the realm of Faerie, they died. Now with a spell to hide her fairy ears, she is the only known fairy on Earth. More stressful, her twenty-fifth birthday is looming, and that is when her full immortality will hit. Her magical powers will become stronger and harder to hide.

But Karli is not without friends. She has a best friend Erica, who is the snarky, somewhat crude (but funny!) BFF. Erica sets the tone of the book right away with this statement:

We just need to find a man who will pound all those negative thoughts right out of your brain with his big, fat cock!

Well okay then. Karli (and Erica) are very over the top, snarky females and there are many silly, funny things that come out of their mouths. Karli is a bartender for Pixie Dust, a bar on the Vegas Strip. And yes she sees the irony in this:

A fairy hiding out in a place called Pixie Dust? C’mon, we’re all walking around looking like slutty Tinker Bells. It’s freaking priceless. Only in Vegas baby.

The new owner of Pixie Dust is a vampire named Leo Markos. Gorgeous and sexy, he definitely is on Karli’s radar. When Karli discovers the brutally terrorized body of a Pixie Dust employee in the bar’s walk-in refrigerator a couple of things happen. First, she meets detective Vance Alexander as he comes to investigate the murder. Next, they realize a very strong demon could only cause harm like this, and the hunt is on for this killer. Karli also has very lusty feelings towards Vance…two men. What will she do?

I really liked the set-up of Pixie Dust and for at least the first third, maybe the first half, even though it is more on the silly light-hearted side, I enjoyed the tone of the book. It was amusing and very entertaining.

My main issues come into play with the love triangle. Karli starts to get pulled in two directions. The very mysterious vampire Leo starts to seduce her, as does the hottie cop Vance. And it starts to unfold like a tennis match. First Karli is with Leo and she is all swoony. Then Vance (Leo and Vance have a past relationship and left it on very bad terms) gets upset she is exposed to a vampire and Karli comes running to him. Then back to Leo. Then back to Vance. Get my drift? She would fly off the handle in anger at Vance and run to Leo, just to turn around and do the same to Leo. It became really old, fast. She went from funny, snarky heroine, to whiny, immature heroine. She did things that made me question her smarts – she lets Leo taste her blood then realizes he might now know she is a Fairy. She “accidentally” throws Fairy dust at Vance – and then he knows what she is. How did she survive all these years without being discovered? I really don’t believe she could have.

As this is a series, the end is a little more ambiguous, as I guess we will continue Karli’s adventures in subsequent books. If the love triangle is played down a little, and Karli acts a little more mature, I think this series might be a cute one.But I was a little disappointed in this one.

Ok, I like the plot and characters but both needed to be flushed out more. This book had serious consent issues, and she just went along with what ever was being forced to do while saying no. This is just not ok. She had no willpower to standup for herself. I figured out who the killer was fairly early as well. Will not continue with this series. This didn't get a one star because I didn't DNF and the plot was on the right track.

Hot, sexy and marvelously written.

First I have to say that this book kept coming up on my Amazon recommended list, and even though I liked the cover (yes, I am one of those people, who first judge a book by the cover), I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read another, fairy-warlock-vampire love triangle. Now, I am so glad that I did.

I truly enjoyed the story. The plot changes and the secrets kept my interest. The setting in a futuristic Las Vegas was different in a nice way. The story really fits there, with the whole “Sin City” thing going on.

The characters are so believable, lovable and reading their story is so entertaining. Karli and her best friend Erica have a great relationship. Some of the things that they say to each other, only best friends could get away with. Vance is sweet, the typical good guy, while Leo is by far not your average vampire.

The story sucked me right it. It is wonderfully written, with a touch of hot, blush factor. What an extraordinary start to an amazing urban fantasy series…

While I can see why a lot of people like this series, after all it is quite captivating and almost impossible to put down, I can also see a lot to complain about.

(Sorry!)

The characters are incredibly immature for their ages. They also yell, curse and shriek a lot. It's truly distracting and makes it all a little less enjoyable. The writing isn't much better. While the plot is truly addictive, there are a number of technical issues that really annoyed me throughout the whole book, like the exaggerated use of exclamation points in critical situations and the grammar mistakes. Karli's inability to protect herself or, at least, act cautiously is also another big no-no for me. I truly wonder how she managed to conceal her identity for so long when she didn't even last 24h with Vance. And her whining attitude is not giving her any points either. Overall, it's not a big deal but it's surprisingly additive and captivating.

Awesome story, wonderful plot! Full of fantastic characters, drama, danger, murder, witches, evil, vampires, a fairy, demons, and magic. Falling for two different men at once, caught in the middle of a murder investigation, and coming into her magic! Puts lots of pressure on a girl. What’s a girl to do? Will she figure out the murderer, before she is the next victim? She got away once, but can she again? What is the connection between the women that are being murdered? Can she figure it out before it is to late? It grabs your attention from the first word and holds you til the last word, you won’t be able to put it down! Wished I could give it 10 stars! Loved it!
