I have to admit, I grabbed this book for the fabulous cover. Besides, I’m often looking for U titles for challenges and I am glad to have read it for that reason.

Otherwise, I am not the audience for this book. I’m not a huge romance reader and that’s the main focus of the book. I get hung up on wanting things to make sense and wanting to feel a true historical flavor when I read historical books. Rosie, to me, felt like an enterprising girl from the 1950s or 1960s who was misplaced into an
Author Carolyn Twede Frank has written a amusing and entertaining story in her novel, Under the Stars. Although the story is pretty predictable and a bit slow in places, especially where the romance in the story comes in, this story is filled with plenty of intense action, including a posse of men trying to find a murderer, as well as jailing some robbers. The author has created some fun personalities in her characters, causing readers to want to read and learn more about them. This story is an ...more
This was a fun, refreshing read. Tomboy Rosie finds joy in activities mostly enjoyed by men in this time period: breaking horses, enjoying the great outdoors, sharpening her target skills, etc. I loved how Rosie was able to interact with men on their "traditional" turf without belittling or humiliating them. Instead she builds and helps each of them become better while calming tempers and squabbles. The romance portrayed in this book progresses naturally as both main characters gain an ...more

I was intrigued by Rosie and how she was such a rough and tumble girl in the west! She wasn't afraid to be herself, which included being a ranch hand and slinging a six-shooter! She impressed me with her ability to be herself and go after what she wanted. The guts it took to dress in disguise as a man to join a posse headed to find her sweetheart's killer was impressive to me. She was one tough woman with sharp shooting skills, a calm presence amidst a group of men, and a determination to rival ...more

This is the third book by Carolyn Twede Frank’s set in Craig, WY. I have loved the other books she has written and this was no exception! This was a wonderful, clean Western romance with outlaws and a tomboy who kicked butt! I loved the banter between the main characters and how they fell in love with each other even if they weren’t who they expected to fall in love with at the beginning! Love this book! Highly recommend!

When her intended is shot in the back by a cowardly outlaw, Rosie Decker is determined to get justice and no one is going to stand in her way. That includes the pretty-faced Marshal Hank Walker who refuses to let her join his posse. With a little creativity, Rosie disguises herself and joins up anyway. After all, she’s a better shot and horseman than any man she knows. But will Rosie be able to keep up her disguise in such close quarters with the marshal? And what about the pesky feelings of ...more

I’ve enjoyed this series from the start, each featuring strong women who stand apart from the stereotypes of the time in which they lived.

This story is no different. This can be read as a stand-alone even though many of the characters have featured in the first two books. Both Rosie and Hank are very likable and endear themselves to the reader quickly. I’m not so sure the conflict is as strong as I might expect between them at first, but the continuing plot is fun. Rosie is easily the core

UNDER THE STARS is an entertaining read from the first page to the last! With a spitfire heroine, a strong hero, plenty of antics and danger, and a sweet romance with a little sizzle, the story is sure to delight western romance readers who are looking for a light and fun read. Definitely recommended.

I couldn't resist smiling during most of this story. Rosie is just one of those spunky, unconventional heroines who's also a sharp-shooter and can ride a horse as good as the rest of them. Hank is a

This western romance had a great pace and fun characters, I thoroughly enjoyed it. While westerns aren't my typical go to genre, I have read a few by Karen Witemeyer and Sarah Eden and I would rank this novel and the rest of the Craig Series by Carolyn Twede Frank as being right up there in terms of lovable characters, wit, and a fantastically paced and well developed plot.
Rosie is a tomboy through and through. When the chance to join a posse to avenge her one and only sweetheart comes along she

I’m always in the mood to read a great historical romance. I LOVED this one by Carolyn Twede Frank. Her characters were great, and the plot was as well.

Rosie might have been my very favorite thing about this book. She’s a young woman, but she’s not a proper young woman by any means. She works on a ranch as a horse-tamer, with a bunch of men. I loved that she was not concerned about what anyone thought of her. She just was herself, and she was good at that. When Rosie’s boyfriend is killed, she

Miss Rosie Decker is unlike any other woman in Craig, Colorado. She is a tomboy, sharp shooter, ranch hand. She wears trousers, can work outside all day long, just like one of the guys.

Her sweetheart Ivan has been gunned down and the marshal, Hank Walker comes looking at the outlying ranches to find enough able bodied men

Miss Rosie Decker, What can I say? You were a gal ahead of your time. This character was fully developed but still had room for growth. That gal didn’t know what a limitation was. She did lack ability to hear no or to communicate with those that love her. That being said, I love her too. She is compassionate and caring and gives no thought to herself in most situations. She has gumption and can take care of herself.

Henry Walker is the lawman of every woman’s dreams. He is respectful and caring,
I read this author's previous two books in this series (Heart of the West and Saving Susannah Jones) and enjoyed them immensely. So I was eager to read this new one, especially when I heard the summary. Rosie and Hank sounded like quite the pair. I am happy to say that the book lived up to my expectations. Rosie and Hank were delightful characters whose interactions often made me smile and sometimes laugh. Rosie's skills and determination made her easy to root for, even though it was evident ...more

Under the Stars is the third book in the Craig Colorado Series. This installment is full of humor. It had me laughing so much.

Main character Rosie Decker is a tomboy, gun-slinging, horse taming female in a world where females should wear frilly clothes and wait for a man to save them. Rosie is out to prove herself and take part in the posse hunting down the killer of her former beau.

Marshal Hank Walker wants nothing to do with a female joining his posse even if they are the best "man" that has

This is a fun reading western. I enjoyed Rosie particularly. There was one scene that especially made me chuckle and I had to stop and explain what was so funny to my brother in law. He laughed too. But I won't share because I don't want to spoil it. I also liked Hank but he felt more serious to me. I think this book would make a fun movie. I kept envisioning scenes as if they were a motion picture especially while dealing with the bad guys. Kind of had a Support Your Local Sheriff feel to it. I ...more

Thank you Covenant Publications for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. This is the first time I have read a book by Carolyn Twede Frank but it won't likely be the last time. I really enjoyed this book about Rosie and her quest to avenge the death of her sweetheart. She started out looking for revenge and proving herself as good or better than any man and in the end also learned how to be a woman and helper to the Marshal she was trying to prove herself to. There are enough ...more

First time reading this author and I would definitely like to read more of her work. This was a fun, delightful read. Though not my usual go-to genre, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Rosie is a strong woman who has overcome a heartwrenching experience and jumps at the chance to get the man that took everything from her. The only thing standing in her way is a pesky, but handsome, Marshal.

The author does a good job of making the characters come to life, and developing their

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I enjoyed the western themes romance that was clean and engaging. This book reminded me a bit of the Sheriff of Savage Wells series. Main character, Rosie, has all the cowboy skills of a man buying taken seriously by new marshal Walker for a good chunk of the novel. I liked the banter between the two and that Rosie was resourceful once captured using castor oil to afflict her captors. This was a quick and easy read and made me want ...more

Guys! Carolyn Twede Frank’s new book Under the Stars is incredible! This is the third book in her Western Romance series that takes place in Craig, Colorado. The first being Heart of the West and the second being Saving Susannah Jones. I recommend reading them in order, but you can read them out of order as well.

Under the Stars is the story of Rosie Decker and the handsome Marshal Hank Walker. I had a grin on my face the whole time I was reading this delightful story. I highly recommend this

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Rosie and Hank was amazing. I loved their banter. It reminded me of the song "anything you can do, I can do better." Rosie was such a fun character. I loved her sass, her spunk, and her drive to be true to herself. I enjoyed the old west setting. This book is Frank's 3rd set in this town. I have read the 2nd and the 3rd. I need to read the 1st. They each stand alone well. But it is fun to get a better view of a the townspeople.

The characters in this story were fun to read about. Rosie was especially strong and capable. I also really liked that she was willing to put herself out there for love and what she wanted in life. Great interactions between the characters. The love story was sweet and clean, and the ending was lovely.

I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.

Although this is the third book in a series, it can be read as a standalone. (I haven't read the first two books.) Rosie is a fun character, and she often had me chuckling. I liked seeing how she and Hank learned to work together.

3.5 stars.

I read an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I throughly enjoyed reading Rosie and Hank’s story. I don’t read Westerns often, but this one really captured my attention and had fun, lovable characters and a compelling story line. I loved Rosie’s strong, independent character. I have a difficulty finding authors who arch my attention, but Carolyn did and I am looking forward to reading more!

Rosie is a fascinating blend of tomboy and caring woman. The unique characters give this story a fresh twist, and their journeys of self discovery make this old west story a delightfully insightful book. Less polished writing style seems to fit the character of the story.

About my writing: I don't like to write candy for the brain. But I do like to try to make my books not only fulfilling, but entertaining. Candy is nice, but a meal of meat, potatoes, and veges can leave you more satisfied. My books give the reader a good taste of history and/or science along with a dash of mystery folded into the story.

About me: I've always loved writing, but haven't gotten
