She doesn’t want to live in darkness so she keeps her identity a secret while living amongst the humans in her village. But when a vampire feeds on a villager, a blood hunter arrives to take care of the vampire scourge. Willow’s serene life is turned upside down and she finds herself a prisoner of Blood Hunter Adam Degore. They’re enemies but Willow finds herself attracted to him. Crazy, huh? Bu ...more

Dracula's daughter!

I enjoyed this tale of Dracula's daughter, Willow, and the blood hunter, Adam, falling in love. He's fighting against his blood hunter vowels and his need to save his brother, while she is his prisoner. Enemies to lovers is my absolute favorite, so this book didn't disappoint. Even though this is Willow and Adam's story, I loved Dracula's presence! Vampire fans will enjoy the book just as I did!🖤

“Bloodborn" offers up an intriguing premise surrounding the fate of Dracula's daughter! The world building has considerable potential, but the author leaves too much unexplained, while relying on traditional vampire stereotypes.

Read full review in the 2020 September issue of InD'tale Magazine.

Note: I received a free ARC from the author (via Hidden Gems) in exchange for an honest read and an honest review. My reviews are always honest to my reading experience, regardless of how I received a book.

I love vampire lore and I love vampire novels. So when I had the opportunity to read Bloodborn I was very excited -- Willow is, after all, the daughter of Dracula. Where could this go wrong? In a general note, I'd say the world isn't fully fleshed out. However... bigger issues surrounding vio

First of all, what beautiful writing. The author manage to create a beautiful picture while avoid purple prose. In addition, I loved Willow, the character the author molded throughout the story. I appreciated the fact that Willow was a strong and intelligent female presence throughout the entire story and took the lead several times without falling and acting like a victim.

Willow has spent a lot of energy into maintaining her independence, even as she fell in love with Adam. I enjoyed the classi

Before I start, I want to say this is my own opinion and by no means should anyone not read this book and form their own opinion.

I rarely DNF a book and hate to have to do this. I tried to like it. I really did. But all I kept thinking with each turn of the page was Witcher meets Bloodborne meets every other "hunter" PNR. The characters didn't appeal to me, the world was shallow and overused. I wanted so bad to attach and learn to care about them but I couldn't.

I’m not much of a romance reader, but I do like vampires. Sydney plays with the traditional depiction of vampires with a hint of her own lore and a nice touch of magic to top things off. Zachariah became my favorite character and I think there is a lot of potential in his journey to come. Hope to read more from Sydney in the years to come.

Sydney Winward weaves together traditional vampire stories with new elements to present a fresh take on Dracula’s daughter in Bloodborn. Adam is a blood hunter, trained, and sworn to kill the paranormal creatures of Winward’s medieval world. I was fascinated by the hierarchy, powers, and training of the blood hunters. When they graduate, they are ranked to receive a different gem with a different level of power storage. Adam didn’t join because he was a born killer, he has a secret agenda. A sec ...more

I'm new to Sydney Winward's books and I have to say, after reading Bloodborn, I will be coming back for more. This gritty read was a complete joy. Can't wait for book 2!

From the start, I was captivated. As someone who's a little hesitant about vampire stories, I didn't find Bloodborn to be your typical vampire tale. It has so much depth to it. From the powerful themes such as acceptance and love to the layers of world building and character development.

Willow was like my go-to girl. I adored her

This is not your average vampire story.
Adam Degore...what a name! is obsessed with finding a cure for vampirism. To that end, he becomes a Blood Hunter, hunting vampires for a living. And he is very, very good at his job. When he is hired to hunt a vampire terrorizing a village, he encounters Willow and it doesn’t take him long to figure out she is a vampire. But not just any vampire. Willow is Dracula’s daughter. When Adam captures Willow he sets into motion a chain of events that could destro

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

How many vampire books have you read? If you've read as many as I have then you know most of them are a lot alike. I can honestly say this one is not. It took a couple of chapters before I was fully enthralled but once I was hooked I couldn't stop reading it. The book is very well written and It is different from every other one I have read. Which is no small feat. I love how the author portrays Dracula. Hes not a main character by any mean

Bloodborn is an excellent example of giving the vampire legend an interpersonal and refreshing viewpoint on the realistic tensions between the formation of a relationship between a human and a vampire. The bond that Adam and Willow share is beyond skin deep. Love the fact that the relationship was slow burn, that Adam because of his past treated Willow like dirt but overtime saw the errors of his way to the will of Willow and she showed him that life is worth living for. Although the first five ...more

I received a copy of this book from voracious readers and I was hooked from the start to the end. I loved how the characters developed throughout the story and overcame all their flaws an example of this would be Adam as he starts of quite narrow minded but ends up being accepting and understanding. Also, I loved the relationship between Willow and Adam because it was unique, perfectly paced and completely ship-worthy. Moreover, I loved all the other characters as well such as Dracula and Zachar ...more

She gives Adam and Willow a strong connection and hot chemistry and brings the story to life with her vividly painted scenes. It's an entertaining story and I would recommend reading.

It is difficult to find a paranormal romance that has three dimensional characters, believable motivations, and an intriguing world. This book has it all! I loved how the author combined elements of traditional vampires and magic with her own lore. It creates a unique experience for the reader. The romance also builds very naturally and the conclusions that each character makes feels solid and believable. I would recommend it!

Sydney Winward has a wonderful knack for writing in vivid detail, making it possible to draw out many of my emotions, often bringing out anger and tears and thankfully happiness. This is what all writers wish to accomplish. If you can move a reader, then you've been able to create worlds and characters that have absorbed them and taken them on a journey. Bloodborn did this for me. Look forward to reading the sequel. ...more

His kind killed her mom, her kind killed his parents. Determined to find a cure for his brother. Can he be just as determined to avoid falling in love with his captive, Dracula's own daughter?

Great character development. Lots of supernatural creatures and interesting plot yet so well written it was easy to follow.

It was a story that got me hooked from the beginning with the easy to follow the style and the characters.
I really liked Willow and her struggle to live her life being her own person. Adam was a bit more difficult to accept because he was too intense most of the time.
This story was more than simply vampires and vampire hunters. it is about finding oneself and love and fighting for both.
