I just finished this lovely book, and I'm never going to forget it. The fact is, as long as you're alive, you should be open to growth and change, right? But how many of us stop growing after a tragic incidents in our life? We find a formula that works and we stick with it, missing opportunities to experience joyous awakening. Maybe we start saying things like, "Life is unfair to me, or this is now what I expected from life" And we shut down, close off. We fail to notice the continuing wonder an ...more

What to say about The Advisory Board by Hemant Joshi; a lovely read, a phenomenal book, exceptional and captivating. How I lingered over this book; read it slowly to truly savour and appreciate the story. The author doesn't try to impress you with pretentious words nor does she bamboozle you with a convoluted plot. It's an unembellished story. The 'hero' is not extraordinary with powers or rich; he's a simple man who embarks on the journey of a lifetime. I loved the absolute clarity of foresight ...more

The next day, after his car gets shattered by an SUV, he sets off to his work by a taxi. After talking with driver and listening his story, Shekhar's life takes U-turn.

The title is a very unique blend with the plot and storyline. It is a fresh concept which left me with a smile on my face after finishing ths book. Though it can be finished in a sitting, it took me a while because I did not want the book to end at some point of time. The protagonist Shekhar is a very relatable and likeable character. At some points the reader might also feel putting themselves in his place. The grief that he was experiencing seemed very true and not at all fiction. Abhijit was ...more

Review
A loud thud disturbed the four-storey building of Siddhivinayak Co-operative Housing Society Ltd. This story is revolve around Shekhar. Despite being in a city that had one of the better cab services in the country, Shekhar rarely needed to travel in these British era cabs known for their lack of safety. In fact, most of them didn’t even have an air conditioner. Instead of finding chartered buses for his tourists, Shekhar could l

The narrative is written in third person from the perspective of an omniscient entity who tells us all about Shekhar, his past, his present and his thoughts. The narrative involves a lot of metaphors where a comparison is done between the problems faces by taxi drivers on road and problems in our characters life. ⁣

The plot is Shekhar's journey to recovering his company and getting is life back on track with the help of his special advisory who teach him various things. The plot didn't involve a

Life of Shekhar, as he learns and accepts many truths and lessons about life, is what is discussed in the book. The things that he acquires from various taxi drivers, whom he encounters in different seemingly coincidental situations, make the plot for this well written story. Each advise he gets can be separated and put in to our own contexts, and it makes the story very much relatable too.

Amazing how every short story is weaved so seamlessly

This book wonderfully explains the mindsets and perspectives of every driver on the road. What fascinated me the most is how every small experience contributes so well to the story and life of the protagonist. I personally could relate to many of the experiences and also learn many things about the roads and traffic. The biggest take away from this book for me is the new found respect I have for every driver and especially for those driving b
