The 1st grader brought this home from her school library. We enjoyed reading it together. It covers a wide range of ocean-related topics. Lots of interesting info on every page

I read this non-fiction book aloud to my children.

We loved this book! Each page combines both photographs and illustrations, and the information was presented in such a way that even my 4 year-old could understand and enjoy. The book is also internet-linked, which means that the Usborne website contains tons of kid-friendly links to enhance the book where you can watch videos, download pictures, test your knowledge with quizzes, and much more.

In addition to learning about various marine life, we learned about the scientific aspects of seas and oceans including waves, currents, and tides. I was really pleased to see chapters included on how people are harming the oceans and its plant- and animal-life through pollution, oil spills, overfishing, and damage to coral reefs.

If you have kids that love science books, I highly recommend this one!

Coupled with the related website, this is a very ambitious and far-reaching introduction to all water-related issues. The illustrations are beautiful and accurate. Too many topics are examined to make this volume good for casual reading, but the table of contents, index, and internet links make it an excellent resource.

We did not read the internet version. We have a hard copy. The pictures are beautiful. We chose not to read the text in order and started a dialog about ecosystems, marine animals, environmental protection and marine archaeology just to name a few. This book is an excellent starting place for a myriad of topics related to seas and oceans.

A good elementary level collection of Seas and Oceans and the things that live in them. Nice two page spreads with details to be explored and the internet links to go deeper if you want to are great for supplementing.

We bought this at OMSI in Portland last year. The boys are still young for a lot of it but it has great pictures and information.
