I was so excited for Patrick’s story and boy was it worth the wait!! Totally devoured it in one sitting!
Patrick’s past has remained a mystery until now, when that past walks back into his life nothing will ever be the same.
Intrigue,mystery incredible characters and heartfelt emotions are just the start to this gripping and delicious read!

Wow! Hooked from the prologue! A very mysterious and intriguing storyline. Patrick and Madeline have scorching hot chemistry that’ll have you turning the pages for more. The ending will have you begging and pleading for book 2. A definite must read!

Yesssssss! Patrick and Maddie! They may be my favorite duo, to date! Fire and passion and intrigue. This book has it all and of course, in perfect Aleatha-fashion, she leaves us with our jaws agape and wanting the next book yesterday. I cannot say enough good things about Spark! I also LOVE seeing our old friends too... I missed Mason lol

DNF - Chapter 16 🙈
So... I didn't hate this book... I didn't like it either. 😬
The plot wasn't boring... The writing wasn't bad... The characters weren't annoying... However, I wasn't interested to know what happened in the characters past - what happened in their present - or what would happen in their future.

5 “Off and Running”Stars
What an exciting start to the Web of Desire Trilogy. This is Patrick Kelly’s story and boy did it create a spark in me. I found this first book to be very intriguing in setting up Patrick’s life, his coming face to face with his past and his desire to hold on to what he had lost. Madeline “Maddie” and her surprise with seeing Patrick sets off her own sparks but she holds so many secrets that must be withheld. It is quite the tango these two must do.
While the story takes place in 2 days, it was filled with twists and turns and a very OMG moments. That Ending.....but divulging that would be very spoil-ish. There are many sinister players in this story that begin to weave a net around the Sparrows. In this true author’s fashion, there were many calculated and uncalculated diversions that set the stage for this exciting trilogy.
Patrick and Madeleine’s story was addicting, sexy and scintillating. I loved that the Sparrows and their wives were present and part of the story. I can only imagine the storyline from here on out but I’m sure I will be Aleatha’d at every turn.

This review will be a big challenge if I don’t want to spoil anything for you as the synopsis is really, really mysterious!
What to tell you?
First this is about one of our men in the Sparrow bunch. As two of them already had their story, I’ll leave you do the math about who is concerned.
Second : I read it in one sitting! It’s a fast read, filled with secrets, stakes are high literally and figuratively and the hero is the most “non-threatening” yet commanding that we read about so far! Once you begin the book you’ll want to read till the end because you’ll want to know “who will win” (no telling more).
Third there is of course a love story and this looks nearly like a second chance romance but one where one of the protagonists is left in the dark till the end.
Fourth: let’s talk about the main characters ….to some extent!
The female character is super smart as it seems a trend with Aleatha’s novels (to my great delight might I add) and she has been through a lot. She is not free to do as she pleases. You understand that she owes someone but you don’t know the specifics nor what that someone’s leverage is until the very last sentence. Honestly, I had guessed but maybe it was because I’ve got to know some of Aleatha’s scheming mind! I don’t think most of you will have a clue 😊 .
The male main character is part of Sparrow’s entourage and beyond the undeniable attraction (there is lots of chemistry) he also cares for that woman as they share a past. All along he’ll try to juggle his feelings for her while keeping Sparrow’s interest at heart. That’s not an easy feat and mistakes will be made that will have consequences. He is loyal, strong, protective and a genius at maths.
This being the first book of a trilogy, we will be left with some secrets unveiled without all the explanations about the “how” and “why” and “when”. But that’s just to keep us on our toes and want for more. Aleatha knows how to keep her readers interested!
So why not a 4,5 or 5 stars?
Probably because I love my heroes a little bit more “threatening” if I might say so. I love them dark LOL
More angst too, to add an extra “edge” to this novel but from what I get from the very last sentences, I’d bet my money on the extra angst in book two!
Also I would have loved to have more chapters “in the past”, not just the prologue, to help me know the characters better or rather, their past relationship. But I guess that’s what book two and three will be for!

We first met Patrick in Secrets (Web of Sin #1) as a loyal and reliable friend of Sterling Sparrow. Finally, he's getting his story. Patrick's POV starts to tell how he became part of Chicago's elite.

But something happened that got them separated and never heard or saw one another until now. The attraction is still there and the intimate scene was hot and sensual. But, there are so many secrets yet to be revealed between Patrick and Madeline. I have questions of my own after that cliffy ending.
Ms. Romig has started another enthralling series. I couldn't put this novel down. Everything is perfectly timed and works all together in building of a good and suspenseful story. A must-read start of a series!

I really want to like this book. I do. I heard so many good reviews about Miss Romig. And this is my first read. I want to like it so badly.
The story is full of twist and turns. Angst and drama thrown into the mix. I feel this book would be that perfect book. However what does not work for me is there is too many secondary characters. I do not know the purpose of these secondary character.
With so many twist and turns plus I am blind about gambling, this book turns into a web of confusion for me. I do not hate it but I do not like it either. Some part in the middle, I lost touch of what is going on.
I think the problem is me. I am not used to read this kind of book.

I didn’t see this cliffhanger coming!!! 😮 I was just blown away!
I have enjoyed most of the author’s series and thankfully the first part didn’t disappoint me.
It had everything! Angst, suspense, secrets, deception, romance, twists and turns.
This romantic suspense story had me reading almost nonstop and it was full of passion and Sparks!

LOVE IT! I lost two nights of sleep, because I HAD to know what would happen next. Prepare for nonstop clicking to the breathtaking end...
SPARK is all the suspense and edge-of-your-seat action you expect from an Aleatha Romig story... Patrick is bossy, sexy, and perfect. Maddie is smart, independent, and fierce. I really loved the poker tournament/gambling element--it added a fun layer of suspense by being totally tied into the murder mystery.

OMG!!! Aleatha did it again. I’ve been looking forward to Patrick’s story since first meeting him in Secrets. He’s so much more than I expected. My new favorite hero of Aleatha’s. When his past literally and figuratively comes back to life he will do just about anything to protect her. Maddie is in deep trouble and needs to win the poker tournament or she will loose everything including a secret she’s kept from Patrick. Holy moly what a cliffhanger. Can’t wait to read Flame. Highly recommended.

No one and I mean no one can leave us on the edge of our seat with a sexy thriller like Aleatha and she continues that tradition with Spark. The thing about Aleatha is you never know where you may end up when you indulge in her stories. You start off one place and eventually end up in places you didn’t even know existed. Mentally, emotionally and physically.
Spark, OMG!!! When I finished this book, I could not fall back to sleep. Well, let me go back to what happened the exact minute I finished. I cursed Aleatha, out loud. I know she could not hear me, but I am sure she felt every word that came out of my mouth. Let me tell you why . . .

I've said it before but I'll say it again, Aleatha Romig is the Queen of Cliffhangers! She knows how to grab you and hold you tight until the bottom falls out with the last sentence of the book and you are holding on by a thread wondering how you are going to make it until the next book is released.
I kid you not, this book was fantastic. I fell for Patrick when I first met him in SECRETS (Web of Sin Trilogy) there was just something about him that called to me, I knew we would get his story eventually and to be honest waiting just over a year for it wasn't so bad because it was sooooo worth the wait.

Spark, Book 1 in Aleatha Romig's Web of Desire series is yet another top-notch, thrilling read from this talented author. You do not have to have read any of the Sparrow Webs books prior to reading Spark, but you should. They will only enrich your "Spark" reading experience. If you don't, not to worry. I'm confident you will enjoy Spark as a standalone. Once again, Aleatha Romig gives us a descriptively rich, action-packed, page-turning story that will leave you begging for more. As always, she has a way of writing that flows seamlessly from scene to scene, giving the reader the feeling of being there, in the story, watching from the corner and waiting with bated breath to see what's going to happen next. I LOVED this beginning of Patrick's story. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. The Sparrow men are back, bringing all their Alpha-maleness with them and I, for one, couldn't be happier. Captivating, gripping, steamy and riveting--you do not want to miss Spark!

Aleatha Romig never disappoints.
This is the first book of the Web of Desire series.
It’s has passion and suspense!
I could not turn the page fast enough- I have this feeling “ I NEED to know what is about to happen?!?!”
The characters are some familiar people that was fun to read from her other books but don’t worry you can read this book and it will flow beautifully.
I can not wait till part 2 of Web of desire!
Book 1 was captivating- I can only anticipate Book two will be mind blowing!

Spark is like a join the dot puzzle. You know the dots are all there but you can’t quite tell what the big picture is going to be. The game to join the dots is going to be a brilliant one if the first part of the story is anything to go by.
I had one of those stop mid chew moments when one of the dots was joined and then the final dot revealed in this episode knocked me on the floor! So many more things to discover that have me intrigued. I’m eager for more. Desperate.
Maddie and Patrick were young when they first met. As adults when they meet again, it’s electrifying. The suspense is killing me. I need to know the whats and the whys like I need more gin on a Friday night.
I feel the need to re-read it already to write a who’s who of the characters and their relationship with each other. Poker players and those watching the poker players. And then those people watching the people watching the poker players! It’s all so clever.

Not once, literally not once, did the cliffhanger in this one even occur to me. And, really, it should have. It's in character, and it follows with who Patrick and Madeline are...but it didn't occur to me. And. this made it a lot of fun...well, as fun as those torturous things called cliffhangers can be...so, only a little fun.
As always with Aleatha Romig, this book is on the darker side. But, it isn't. No one is being kidnapped or held against their will be the hero or the heroine. The hero and the heroine didn't kill anyone...at least not yet and not in this book...so, for one of her titles it's tame. Part of me wants to recommend this one for people who have a hard time with darker romance...but, as it's a trilogy and all of the things I mentioned above could still happen in books 2 and 3, I don't want to do that just yet.
It's well-written and engaging from the beginning. There are a couple of "huh" moments and one that I am still waiting for the explanation behind. I am sure it's coming, and it's a small thing, really...but I am curious. I also have an idea what I think happened...as there are certain characters who only turn down being told things when they already know them...but, I am going to have to wait and see on that.
I am looking forward to the next title in the trilogy, and I am looking forward to the reaction of the characters to the revelation at the cliffhanger.

Let me start by saying.. HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I feel like there will be a lot of cursing this review but I will try and be good... But damn it, Ms. Romig, you have done it again and left me fucking speechless.
Aleatha's unique approach to anything she writes continues to blow me away. It doesn't matter what kind of genre/sub-genre she writes... You know going into the book that it's going to be brilliant and Spark (Web of Desire Book 1) was no exception and if I am honest... This may be Ms. Romig's best work to date.
Patrick and Maddie met when they were young, in a back ally of all places and instead of playing their story out, the author jumps years ahead and what transpires next will have your head spinning because it sure as shit had mine going around.
This story takes place in just a two day period, but that didn't mean it lacked for anything in those two days in the book the author left this book lacking nothing and well left me wanting more... Wanting? no no... More like NEEDING more.
I won't dive deep into this, but I will say... You do not know what you are getting into, I kind of still don't know what I'm getting myself into... But know I need this, I need to know more... NOW!!

Wait, what?! This ending!!! OMG! How?!
This book was great! From all points of view. I really needed to read a mature book and this one was the perfect one. It was full of action and suspense. Everything I needed.
But the cliffhanger... how am I supposed to wait another month to read the next book?! This is torture.

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Aleatha is an amazing writer. This is a spin off book from the previous series and I would highly recommend reading that one first, as there are characters from that series in this one too.
Patrick had nothing when he was younger. Now, older, wise and somewhat more ruthless, he has more money than he knows what to do with and respect from people all over his city. He has never forgotten where he came from and while he has no desire to go back there, it shaped him in a profound way. Patrick knows that his job is to protect his boss, but when his past comes back to smack him in the face, he's not sure if he can do that.
Maddie's beginning was about survival. She learned early on that you can only count on yourself. Smart, savvy and beautiful, Maddie also learned the art of never showing her emotions. When she finds herself running from the authorities, she didn't expect to be saved. But, with that salvation also comes a steep price.
This is the first book in the series and it will suck you right in. You'll want to turn the pages faster than ever and when you see where the story might be taking you, you'll curse and scream when you get to the end. I cannot wait to see what happens next, because I know that Romig will continue to lead us through the twists and turns of the story like only a Romig story can.

In the first installment of this new trilogy, the author explores timeless love and how circumstances beyond one's control, can tear it apart.
Madeline Miller and Patrick Kelly first meet under unusual circumstances, in a back alley, where the desperate situation they share, unites them for years to follow. Rather than explore the blossoming love story, this story fast forwards years later, when Madeline reappears in Patrick's life. A woman who he thought was dead but remains his wife. *record scratch*
Yes, that interesting twist caught my attention too. And made me eager for answers.
What tore them apart?
Why did Patrick think she was dead?
Why does won't she seek safety with him now, when there clearly is a major spark between them?
"Do you still want to kill me?"
"Not as badly as I want to fuck you."
Unfortunately, we don't get answers to the first two questions. Instead, this story centers on poker tournament they are both playing in, and it is clear, both must win. But of course, there can be only one winner. So, what happens to the loser?
I wasn't sure where this story was leading, as Madeline and the author are far from forthcoming. However, we are given a bomb of a cliffhanger at the end, which partially answers my third question above. It is an "oh shit" moment and now I want book two more than ever!
The author threw a lot at us in this book, I'm assuming to set up the plotline of the future installments. As always, I'm looking forward to the journey as the author weaves the story together, along with the multitude of threats this couple face.

Just go in knowing that this is a romance with very dark and twisty elements. In the first instalment, you get the set-up and a lot of mystery, therefore, I won’t reveal what exactly this story is about.
This isn’t my first time being Aleatha’d. Honey, the Consequences series was probably one of my first Dark Romance expeditions. Years later, I’m reuniting with this author and can I just say that she hasn’t missed a single beat. Wow. I’ve read both Spark and Flame as I’m writing this review. It’s very difficult not to spoil anything that happens, but I’ll try. This book is best enjoyed when you have NO CLUE going in. Madeline has an intensely mysterious role in this book and Patrick Kelly is out there trying to ignite the sparks that will ignite flames. There were twists in this story, but the final twist was the bestest of the best. I didn’t see it coming. I read this quickly as it was a page turner in every sense of the word. I’m not a big poker fan, but Romig had me invested in the story nonetheless. The chemistry between the main couple was the main driving source and it was gripping. I wanted to know more about these two and what I found out… Damn. That cliffhanger had me starting the second book REAL quick.
I recommend this read to people who haven’t been Aleatha’d because they deserve to witness this wonder, lovers of twisty dark romance and who’d love to read about a reunion between two tortured leading souls with tons of secrets.

SPARK by Aleatha Romig is the First book in the Web of Desire Trilogy Series. This starts the story of Madeline 'Maddie' Miller and Patrick Kelly. Madeline and Patrick knew each other when they were younger. But Madeline disappeared leaving Patrick at a lost. Madeline has now return to Chicago but we start to learn that all isn't so good for her. Patrick lives in Chicago and is a key part of the Sparrow group that he helps to run with his friends. So of course their worlds collide again now they are in the same town. This book does end setting us up for the next installment in their lives. This is one book that you won't be able to put down and you will want the next one right away. Can't wait for more!

Delving into this first installment of Aleatha Romig’s Web of Desire trilogy, I had no idea what to expect from Patrick Kelly’s story. Because when it comes to Aleatha, I have learned to always expect the UNEXPECTED. And with “Spark,” that’s exactly what this author has delivered!
Right from the get-go, an early revelation took me by surprise. From there, I slowly rode the wave of intrigue, curious as to where Patrick and Maddie’s story would take me.
Despite my early suspicions that turned out to be correct, I still felt the one-two punch of the cliffhanger ending that totally knocked me for a loop. Because the intensity brewing behind this ending is really just the beginning of a new, darkly twisted series, set against the backdrop of the Sparrow underworld. And that, my fellow readers, can only mean one thing… time to buckle up and hold on tight for what will surely be the ride of our lives!
