rr 2023 I´M SO SOFT RN I LOVE THEM SM AND MISSED THEM WITH MY WHOLE HEART.
James and Sirius's friendship will forever be the highlight of this book. I'm rereading the whole series with the hope of finally being brave enough to read Year Seven; can't wait for Year 3 though, I miss wolfstar sm
Peter's portrayal isn't the best and this is in fact my reread. I started the series last year and when i was finished binging it I wholeheartedly believed it was the best retelling of the marauders era characters but i was much mistaken. There's no Mary, Marlene, Dorcas but the Longbottoms are there. There are a fair few OCs which I think can be interpreted as replacements such as SPOILERS(maryrose)SPOILERS who I interpret as Mary and SPOILERS(Dorcas comes in much much later)SPOILERS but there are a few of Lily's friends who can be an embodiment of her. Lily can come across as rather prim but she has her moments of letting loose and going along with the boys' antics.
“And here they are,” said Dumbledore, eyes twinkling, “The marauders themselves!”
I am re-reading this series. I read it for the first time back in 2018-2019ish, and I didn't know that Wattpad books were on Goodreads. Anyway, I love this book, as it sets up the story for all the other books to come. I really love all the characters, even Peter. Well, except Severus obviously. I love the Marauders and I think the author does an exceptional job at keeping the same tone as the Harry Potter books have. I'm still as obsessed with this series as I was back in 2019, and so that is a comfort I guess. I can't wait to read book 2!
2.5 stars. I struggled with the characterizations a bit. I may have just been spoiled from All The Young Dudes though. All in all, I enjoyed aspects of this fic. The third person omniscient perspective was interesting because you are better able to empathize with all the characters. However, it also means that sometimes the narration seems a bit detached and impersonal. I’ve heard that things get better starting in 4th year so maybe I’ll keep reading for that.
All in all, not horrible but not my favorite marauder fic. Now I’m worried ATYD ruined me for all other marauder fics…💀
3.5* Cant say that it compares to ATYD but it’s still good, way too much snape though hopefully there will be less in later years. Still not 100% on whether wolfstars a thing if it’s not I’ll be VERY dissapointed. WANT MORE REMUS AS WELL
Quite boring but it’s understandable since it’s the beginning of their story so it’s more of an introduction to the characters and they are only just developing. There wasn’t a lot of wolfstar crumbs (once again understandable since they are 11/12) but near the end there was one or two which made me very happy. Not a lot of Jily since Lily does ‘hate’ James but they were still adorable. I loved having different povs. Too much Snape though, his whole character was just a red flag ‘Lily’s mine and no one can have her.’ I feel like there was so much Voldemort talk aswell which i didn’t like. I heard the next book isn’t much better, it picks up at the 3rd book so i’m happy to keep reading on.
4.5 — This was such an amazing fanfiction. I truly felt so connected to the characters and I am amazed at how she was able to bring them to life. It honestly felt as if this was part of J.K Rowling’s series and she really did a fantastic job at building upon her work. I highly recommend reading this if you’ve always felt like wanting to know more about Harry’s dad and his friends. I absolutely loved the story and the author captured their personalities incredibly well. I am very curious about the next book, I will definitely be picking it up soon.
This fic is so good, but so long. I had to start this a few times again cuz I was too lazy to continue and forgot about it for months. Especially as they’re so young and there’s not much to the plot yet, it gets boring at times. I cried twice in this first book, both times bc of Sirius:’( I recommend very much<3
solid 4 or 4.5 stars it was really catchy and it kinda matched my idea of the characters that i have had created in my mind. a quote: “Sirius scoffed, ‘You have spent more thank five minuets with us — heck, you spent an hour and a half with us and you thought your seven year stay at Hogwarts was going to be boring?’ ‘We are ashamed,’ added James with a lob sided grin, Remus laughed and nodded.”
Recommended by a friend, and wanted something a taste of reading something from the harry potter universe for the first time. This didn't disappoint, it's refreshing to read the different perspectives with a similar writing style.
Iconic. 10/10. Best introduction into the marauders fandom. Probably read like three times at this point. Are there flaws? mhm. Did I still love every single moment? for sure. Great James characterization, just a sweet, mostly canon compliant, marauders fic.
some different characterisations to what i’m used to and i’m very impatient but i love the presentation of life at hogwarts- even if i don’t agree with all of it :)
