Logan ‘Mack’ Reed loves women. Really loves women. He’s an equal opportunity player, happy to oblige just about anyone looking for a good time, but when a beautiful red-headed pixie walks into his club, he finds himself unable to think of anyone but her.

Darien Aherne and her sister have lost both of their parents, but create a comfortable life for themselves. Darien, however, is sheltered and overly curious, which is a dangerous combination. When Darien breaks away from the protective bubble her sister has created, she finds herself falling for a man who could break her.

When the chance of a lifetime pulls Darien into a provocative world she has no experience in, will she trust Mack enough to tell him all of her secrets?

Love, love, love this one. I think it's my favorite in the series. I wasn't sure how I was going to like Mack. If you've read the other books, you know he's a manwhore. I just wasn't convinced he could settle down. But let me tell you, once he SEES Darien, that's it. He's all about her. He does everything he can to take care of her. I loved how he didn't fight it and knew she was the "one". He says some of the sweetest things to her.

Now, like most of these books, we have a moment where you think you'll want to strangle him. But it's straightened out quickly (which I loved)...neither can stay away from the other for long. And you can "kind of" see why he did what he did. But he's a dumb man and we all know how they think sometimes lol. He's got that "must protect woman" caveman mentality going on.

I also loved Darien. She's my favorite type of heroine. She's sweet and awkward and has a great sense of humor.

Normally, this would have been 5 stars for me. It's so hard to find safe MC books without all the nastiness. What kept it from being 5 stars was I got tired of the word "honey". It was used 94 times. I know it's just me but it kind of lost the "special" feeling for me. It just annoyed me.

Overall though, I really enjoyed it. Now, I'm not sure I'll read Kim's book. She is just not the type of heroine I like. I know a lot of people like those "strong and independent" women. But I just know she's going to fight Knight every step of the way and that's just not my thing. But we'll see...you never know

My favorite of the series so far. Mack and Darien were both amazing and perfect for each other. Once Mack laid eyes on Darien, no ow would do. Darien was sweet, funny and a bit awkward at times and Mack loved all of that about her. On to the next.

In this fourth Dogs of Fire MC story, Logan 'Mack' Reed gets his story with pretty little red-headed pixie, Darien Aherne. Mack is enchanted with Darien from the instant he sets eyes on her and the same goes for her. Mack has to overcome Darien's private demons and her misconceptions about him and Darien has to learn to see herself better and accept Mack's club as his family while things heat up for the club when the mob puts them in the hot spot. Things are sweet, spicy, and a whole lot of intense for Mack, Darien, and the rest of the Dogs of Fire MC.

Like others in the series, this one is loosely enough connected so that it could be read out of order if the reader doesn't mind the inclusion of previous characters.

The story begins with Darien Aherne determined to step out of her staid, mousy niche and experience something more of life. She is an aspiring writer, but her bread and butter job is at an assisted living facility. Surrounded by her colorful and beautiful sister and friends, she feels like the one looking in from the outside. Being blocked from entering the night club, Blush, when the others are accepted doesn't help her ego much either. So when her sister's acquaintance Kim says she will get them into the club, Darien agrees to try again.

Mack knows Kim snowed him when he catches sight of the cute little innocent looking pixie trotting along with the others in Kim's posse. Blush is nothing but trouble for women like this one and Kim knows it. Except when he goes to handle it, he is met by a woman that shakes him to the core. Those eyes, that face, that whole package of sweetness is exactly his type even though this would shock many who think of him as a manwhore.

This is the beginning of something for Mack and Darien. Mack knows he's not good enough and that he will have to work hard to convince a quality woman like Darien, but what he doesn't expect is to be confronted by Darien thinking its the other way around. She has it in her head that she is plain at best, boring and nothing about her is attractive. She is also surrounded by a very protective sister and a posse of friends that warn her off about Mack. But Darien is determined to try for her own chance at happiness with Mack and they give their attraction a chance. Meanwhile, a volatile situation heats up between the Dogs of Fire and the mob that spills over into Mack's private life putting Darien in danger.

Alright, I really enjoyed the last one and knew it would be hard to beat. This one does not actually achieve that, but it was still engaging in many ways. The author is very good at establishing a tone of camaraderie, family, and snarky interaction. The motorcycle club is more like a group of guys and their ladies who came together as family.

As to the characters, I unequivocally liked Mack. He beat a hard childhood to make a success of himself as a lawyer and he found his own version of family in his club. He is loyal to his brothers and stands steady when needed. He is a good guy who wants a mature, deep relationship.
Darien on the other hand, left me unimpressed many times though I didn't actually hate her. I am not one that enjoys reading about a woman with poor self-esteem even if I can see what caused it. Darien is a later bloomer. Even though she came into her own and others tell her that she is pretty and likeable, she can't seem to believe it. This causes her to doubt Mack and his honest feelings for her and causes her to be over-sensitive with a hair-trigger on her temper. She was also sweet, fun, and understanding about Mack's past and what makes him the way he is.

As with others in the series, the romance is fast, hot, and spicy. Not that there is no development, but the 'I love yous' come sooner rather than later. Mack enjoyed being with women and Darien is a virgin when they get together. Once she gives up her v-card, she wants to make up for lost time and does with Mack her willing partner who is quite pleased to reveal her passionate nature.

There is a build up to a big action scene and it was hard hitting. I loved that twisty surprise betrayal that happened right before it and that the action felt more visceral in this book.

The epilogue was a nice final touch to make for a fantastic ending tying up all the loose ends neatly leaving me to look ahead to what club member will get his story next.

In summary, this is another solid installment to the series. I would recommend the series to those who like their biker romances on the milder end of the spectrum and enjoy the camaraderie of a group of brothers finding their special ladies.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book. I loved the fact that Darien was smart and so say it like it is.
She just said whatever come into her head. Which was hilarious sometimes.

Logan 'Mack' Reed was Hot Alpha and knew what he wanted and he wanted Darien. Was a bit tough in the beginning but they got through their issues.

Loved that we got to see more of the rest of the guys.

Wonder who's story will be next??

I liked Mack and Dariens story and I like the fact that she just said whatever she was thinking. But at times to say she's a woman in her 20s she seemed really immature and I did become annoying calling your partner wo is part of motorcycle club and a lawyer a 'butthead' just didn't fit.
I didn't hate it but didn't love it

I have definitely enjoyed all of the books that I've read in the Dogs of Fire series by Piper Davenport and I've read every single one so far. This book was no different except it might be my favorite one yet!

Darien is a hoot! Geez, I really loved her. She was the geeky, chubby kid throughout school and she still sees herself that way usually even though she's in her 20's now. But it's not that she has this terrible self-esteem and looks down on herself. She absolutely doesn't. She just happens to be okay with being "Dorky Darien" as she calls herself. Little does she know that she's kind of smokin' hot! My favorite thing about Darien was her sense of humor and how she was able to make the hero laugh, especially at inappropriate times! I didn't love that she was a virgin but once she explained why she was, it made total sense for her. And it's not that I have a problem with virgins... I was one too once, a long, long time ago... ;). I just didn't think that a virgin would make a great erotic romance heroine. Thankfully, she made a great heroine...at least here!

Mack is one sexy beast! I didn't really picture the dude on the cover though. I pictured more of a Chris Evans-esque kind of guy. But that's just me. Up until now, Mack has had a lot of women in and out of his life. He doesn't keep any of them around for very long and that's a reputation that has stuck with him and he's totally fine with that. Until, of course, our heroine shows up. I loved how Mack never really apologized for his behavior. That's who he was and he can't change what he was but he can be a better man now, for Darien. I dug that because it felt real and honest. And actually, I think Mack's honesty and the way he was up front about a lot of things was my favorite thing about him. Or is that two things? Anyway, whenever Darien was confused or was assuming something, he stopped everything and made sure she understood where he was coming from, even if she didn't agree. But he always talked it out with her.... if he could.

The Sexy Time was plentiful and it was pretty freaking hot. But I expect nothing less from this author so I wasn't surprised. I thought that Darien and Mack's relationship had a little bit of an Insta-Love feeling to it but I really didn't mind it. I mean, when you know... you know. You know? So I was okay with how quickly they progressed. Mack's honesty really helped to sell their relationship since a lot of books spend a lot of time on miscommunication and misunderstandings that tend to go on and on. That didn't happen here and I was thrilled.

I would absolutely recommend this book! This is Book 4 in the Dogs of Fire series but I think I can comfortably say that this one can be read as a stand-alone. Some of the couples from previous books make appearances but they're barely in the background so it won't be a big deal to not have read the others. I have a feeling though, that anyone who reads this book is just going to want to go back and start over from the start anyway. This book had TONS of laughs and plenty of action/danger. My goodness, Darien gets banged up quite a bit in this book, poor girl! But I had a total blast reading it and once again, I'm left anxiously waiting for the next book in this series! :D

---------
good series

Katya’s lip popped out in a very practiced pout. “Well, when you’re done with whoever you’re fucking, let me know.”

“I’ve slept with a... few women...” I coughed to cover up my snort, and he continued with a smirk, “And it’s never been like this, so yes, I think what you and I have will last because what we have now I’ve never had before.”

“I think Mack’s cheating on you.”

“This woman I work with, Katya. I saw her and Mack together today,” she said. “I took a couple of photos. I’ll forward them to you.”

“Who’s the whore with her lips all over you, Mack?” He snatched the phone out of my hand with a scowl. “I don’t have time for this shit, Darien!”

“The woman in the photos that Millie sent you is Katya Kozlov. Nika’s sister. We had a thing... not really even a thing. Fucked a couple times, but she wanted to start up again and I said no.”

I say this at the beginning of all my reviews for these Dogs of Fire books, but it's so true. I am NOT a MC fan, but these books are freaking great!! Better than great actually!! They are ones I have actually read more than once already, ones that I had to have in paperback form as well as ebook. They really are that good even if you aren't an MC fan. Ok now onto this book. I have been waiting for Mack's book, have been stalking the author to find out when it would be done and she most definitely did not disappoint me. Darien is the perfect woman for Mack and boy did he know it but not want to know it. I love how hard these sexy MC guys have fallen especially Mack. Ms. Davenport wrote this story perfectly. I can't wait to see who's next. My only question is how long do I have to wait for the next guy to fall? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!!! Easily a 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars for me!! A copy was given in exchange for an honest review.

I like the author's style, yet all four first books of the series follow the same plot.
(BTW: when Darien calls Mac "SPB" and says "I need a better anagram": SPB is not an anagram, it's an acronym.)

* I received a copy of this book for review

An aspiring writer with little experience of the world finds herself involved with a lawyer who also happens to be part of a somewhat shadowy motorcycle club.

Darien is adorable. She's funny and annoying. Her talkativeness can grate a little, but she'd be the first to tell you that she knows this and can't help it. Mack isn't my favorite Dog of Fire...That's still Ace from book 3...but he's appealing. His dialog and insights about women, and Darien specifically, can be a little too on the nose. I never quite forgot that this is a man being written by a woman.

I prefer a longer build up in my romances. A little more push and pull at the start. But there's plenty of chemistry between Mack and Darien. And let's not forget Barney. This a-dog-able canine get lots of screen time, including some really dramatic scenes. We also get to catch up with some of our favorite characters from both the Dogs of Fire and the Guardian series, including tantalizing hints about who the next DoF book might center on. I'm betting on Kim and Knight.

At first ROAD TO PASSION seemed to have little conflict to hang the plot on. Mack's a player. Darien's an innocent. A divide but not a huge one. Especially considering the problems faced by some of the other couples in this series. But Davenport pulls a big one over on us. The danger sneaks up so slowly, it catches you when you least expect it. The climax is a heart stopper. I didn't think Davenport could top what she gave us in ROAD TO ABSOLUTION, but this is even bigger.

Overall this is a solid entry into the series, a romantic book with lots of surprise twists.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

I have read all of Piper's Dogs of Fire series and each one instantly becomes my favorite! I think that each time they can't get better, they can and do! The characters are all fun yet serious, handsome and smart and the author does an amazing job of describing the location that the books are set in, the characters and the details of the club. The reader feels like they are instantly a part of the story. The details are so vivid that I could feel the thump of the base at the club, the roar of the cycles as they drive and the "romance" that only the Dogs of Fire men can provide.

The characters are all separate from other stories that Piper has written, but she is able to tie them together if just for a brief appearance. I enjoy catching up with old friends while visiting my new friends. The story is fast moving, unpredictable and fun. The reader is on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen next and the author never disappoints. The characters stay with you long after you finish reading the story and the reader continues to think about what characters the author will focus on next.

This series is an amazing series and even if you don't think that you will like Motorcycle Club stories, you will love this one! The author adds in enough details that the reader feels an instant connection to the club and can understand everything that is going on. The reader gains knowledge through the stories that makes them want to come back for more. Add this one to your TBR list and you won't be sorry! It is a great read and one that you don't want to miss!!

Logan 'Mack' Reed knew he was in trouble when he saw the redheaded pixie Darien Aherne in his club. Blush was a club for those not so innocent, basically a meat market and Darien is innocence personified. When Darien bumps into Mack again, he knows there is no turning away.

Darien can't believe the stunning man is interested in her, she heard he was a player though and decides to be cautious with Mack instead jumping all in. Mack gets that Darien is not used to dating and what it means to be his, but he plans to help her along the way. Mack is sincere in his dedication to Darien, but an outside source is trying to bring down the Dogs of Fire and Mack's loyalties are pulled in both directions. Can Darien adapt and Mack keep Darien safe?

What a hoot. Loved Darien, she has zero filter and says things that had me laughing out loud. Mack is a character that radiates through the pages, he is patient with Darien knowing it is leading to something important. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, great read.

4.5/5 Stars

i really enjoyed this book, it is light on the MC part of it, its there in the background, but its not gruesome, more light then the usual.
Its very instant attraction between the H and h.

Love the authors writing, a lot of humour (which obviously is not like other MC books) but it suits the book.

I would have liked a bit more of a story for Darien and her writing, and how quickly things went for her in that area... happened a bit too fast...

but other than that, book is definitely worth a read, the whole series is.
especially if you want a light hearted MC read.

While I still enjoyed this one - it was my least favorite of the series so far. I love insta love, but it just didn't work as much for me with this pair. The "honey" actually got to me a bit. Dare was both cute and annoying at the same time. Mack was the to be expected Alpha that need to communicate a bit more/better.

I actually can't wait for Kim to get her story (and no, it's not because of the name!)

AWESOME

Loved this story! Mack and Darien made the perfect couple. I love how even though they had issues...they fought...made up but didn't say things that couldn't be taken back. The story behind the romance was great too. I feel like Pper's writing is getting better and better with every story. I really want Kim to have a HEA TOO...hopefully with Knight! Lol

Really enjoyed this one. It’s badly written in parts but it’s still good.

Wow what a difference between the second book and this one. I hated that book but really enjoyed this one. There are parts that really really don’t make sense and if they call prospects recruits one more time, I’ll lose it. They’re not recruits they’re PROSPECTS!! I have to say that Darien got on my nerves as well, at times. She talks constantly, even during sex and it’s annoying.

Darien meets Mack when she goes to his nightclub. She’s not supposed to be allowed in there as she’s ‘innocent’ and they don’t allow innocents in. WTF? Darien is 22 and has never dated as she thinks she’s ugly, so is still a virgin, she’s also very outspoken and I can imagine her annoying a lot of men. She’s a weird mix as she’s she was partially brought up by her older sister as their mother is an alcoholic, her sister bosses her around, and treats her like she’s a child. Darien’s best friend Millie treats her like that as well. It’s weird.
Mack is a member of the mc and also their lawyer. I’ve liked Mack through all the books, he’s respectful to the old ladies, and isn’t rude to them as some are. Mack also runs Blush nightclub with Booker. As they start dating and falling in love the club is at war with the Russians again, (Different Russians from the second book.) and at times it’s really good. I just wish the author would follow a plot through to other books as it’s very rushed again.

While I did enjoy it there are a huge amount of plot mistakes, spelling mistakes and weird mistakes. For example; Mack is talking to (?) can’t remember who it was, then he’s phoning them and asking to meet.

Millie for some bizarre reason alters a picture of Mack and a woman, so it looks like he’s kissing her. There’s never a reason given for this, apart from Millie can’t stand Mack for whatever reason. it’s never mentioned again and everyone just acts like it didn’t happen. If my best friend did that to me I wouldn’t just forget about it!

The Russian plot really doesn’t make any sense and I gave up trying to understand it after a while.

So yes, I enjoyed it but it’s not brilliant.

Road to Passion is the fourth book in a series called Dogs of Fire MC by Piper Davenport. This is a series about hot bikers, alpha males and lots of hot action. I just recently found Piper Davenport and fell in love with her writing and books. This is a new series for me and I was quite excited to start reading these books. Dogs of Fire MC is not a 1% MC that means that they are mostly clean according to its members.

Road to Passion, Mack (Logan Reed) runs a club where there is a no innocents can come in rule. Darien is trying to do new things and open her options. Right now she works with older folks and is writing a book. Getting into this nightclub would be a brave thing for her to do. Mack takes one look at her and is sure Darien is for him. He is all in from the beginning. Darien is not so sure. She doesn’t have a great self opinion of herself which Mack is determined to change.

I think this novel might be my favorite so far. Darien is not a traditional character and I love how Mack accepts all parts of her. I like how surprised everyone was about Darien’s strengths. Mack is so awesome to support her in the way he does.

Road to Passion by Piper Davenport was a fun, hot read.

When we read a story, we are to "suspend our disbelief." But the author has the responsibility of creating a world, whether it's sci fi, historical, paranormal, or contemporary, which is logical and believable within the construct of that world. Davenport didn't do that in this novel. The romance between Darien and Mack (Logan) was fine, but the plot was substandard.

First of all, it just wasn't believable that Darien would become an instant sensation as a novelist and make that kind of money when the reader didn't see her do any work toward that goal. Without an agent or evidently doing any PR she becomes successful that quickly? I don't think so. The same thing goes with Mack's profession as an attorney. Every once in a while the author throws in a sentence about Mack working on a brief, but that's it.

The worst weakness is the whole plot with the Russian mafia. Davenport never goes into detail about how this nemesis is trying to involve the Dogs of Fire. The problem is taken care of way too easily. I felt as if the author didn't want to go to the trouble of doing any research concerning how these puzzle pieces could all fit, so she just made everything really vague and the reader was supposed to accept that. Sorry, but I expect more of the authors whose works I read.

3 & 1/2 stars

Mack and Darien’s book unites the Dogs’ lawyer/Blush night club manager/Tatum Channing lookalike with a petite, curvy, redhead/budding romance author. I love when the biker falls first and Mack’s intelligence is quite a draw as compared to his fellow bikers whose vocabulary is rudimentary. He’s suave, intelligent, and totally infatuated with Dare’s sweet and thoughtful personality and her total lack of artifice. She’s refreshingly open, delightfully honest, and funny as hell. The first half of the book is really well written with chemistry that leaps off the page. Unfortunately, the author typically reverts back to relying on the same lazy boring daily minutiae fuller, an overabundance of sex scenes that don’t satisfy my need for the characters’ emotional connection, and her lack of follow through with abbreviated episodes of danger that abruptly end with the heroine always passing out. I’m thinking she’s too lazy to put in the work to develop a good suspense which is inexcusable. And to add insult to injury I get really peeved when the author lazily selects a cover model who looks nothing like the description of Mack in her book. Epic fail!
