Please Note: This is book two in a duology that should be read in order. If you are new to the series, you can check out my review of Book one- Blinding Night HERE

Gilded Ruins is the second book in the new adult mythology romance duology by Chantal Gadoury. I fell in love with the first book in the series, Blinding Night when I read it in 2018 and I have been waiting not so patiently for this book ever since! Normally If i go 2 years between reading novels, I have to do a refresher or a re-read

Gilded Ruins
By: Chantal Gadoury

REVIEW ☆☆☆☆
Gilded Ruins is the follow up to Blinding Night, and I recommend reading the books in sequential order to avoid confusion. This story is a retelling of the tale of Hades and Persephone. The author gives it a modern makeover, and it works well. The characters Summer and Darce continue their journey to Mount Olympus to see Summer's mo

Gilded Ruins is a sequel to Blinding Night, to be read after the first book.

Synopsis:
It is time for Summer and Darce to go to Mount Olympus, the House of the Gods. They’ve been summoned there by Zeus, the God of Gods, where Demeter is waiting desperately to claim her daughter back. Will Summer be able to become the Queen she always was, when she hasn’t even gained any powers and still remains a mere mortal?

Review:
I haven’t read a more compelling story from the Underworld. This is such a

Gilded Ruins picks up right after the ending of Blinding Night. Darce and Summer are preparing to go to Mount Olympus after Zeus summons Summer due to Minthe's treachery. On their way to Olympus, plans change and they're summoned to Poseidon's yacht. As Summer's reluctant reunion with her mother looms closer, she finds herself staying closer to her allies from the Underworld.

I was so damn excited to see this in my inbox. Thanks so much Chantal and PH for the review copy! After reading Blinding Night I couldn’t wait for more. This book is a fun ride that will get you emotional and is a must read for both Hades & Persephone and ACOTAR fans.

Like the first one, I was sad with how short it was. I was interested in what was happening, but would’ve love for things to be expanded on and delved further into. We touched on things, but there was so much left to explor

Gilded Ruins
is the second book in the Blinding Night series and continues the story of Summer and Darce.

I really liked Blinding Night because I’ve never read a retelling of Hades and Persephone’s story before. I don’t know their original story either but I really liked the retelling and Gilded Ruins was such a good sequel! I enjoyed reading about Darce and Summer, and their friends an

I think this might be my current favorite Greek Myth retelling. I’ve only read one or two of Riordan’s books and another book from a different retelling, and this duo is so very unique. I love Poseidon’s ship, the happily ever after. And I adored the storyline following Persephone and Hades rather than a demigod. I think their story in this duo is beautiful.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

Mythology is one of my favorite subjects. Ever since I was a kid I found the stories about all-powerful beings so interesting, the stories captivated me. Things didn't change as I grew into an adult, I loved the stories, the flawed characters, and the drama. No matter what kind of mythology, be it Greek, Norse, Egyptian or etc. I love it. I love the classic myth but I really do

**Thank you to the author and The Parliament House Press for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.**

I was so very eager to get my hands on this sequel as Blinding Night (Book 1) enticed me with its reimagined Underworld and the idea of a romance that survived lifetimes. Now I was ready to read about how the star-crossed lovers, Hades and Persephone or rather in this retelling: Darce and Summer, would take on Olympus.

First and foremost Gilded Ruins is the sequel to Blinding Night. I highly recommend both these book as they are both truly phenomenal! Read Blinding Night first though otherwise you won’t know what’s going on.

That being said all I can really say is woah! I have been patiently waiting for book 2 ever since I read Blinding Night and the author sure didn’t disappoint. She cane back stronger than ever making Gilden Ruins a truly amazing read. Not too fast so you can follow along without getting los

Gilded Ruins is a sequel to Blinding Night, a retelling about Hades and Persephone with a modern twist. Now I have been waiting for this sequel since I finished reading the first book. If you haven’t read that yet, what are you even waiting for?

I started this book with very HIGH expectations and that’s exactly what the author delivered. It was a great roller coaster ride. More answers revealed about the tragic past. The pace

I was so excited to read Gilded Ruins, as I loved Blinding Night. It was worth the wait, this was so good. This series got me more interested in Greek mythology -I've had the Hercules soundtrack on a loop. The covers for these books are stunning, I love looking at them.

Thank you Chantal for sending this ARC to me! I truly enjoyed reading both Blinding Night and Gilded Ruins.

Gilded ruins begins right where Blinding Night left off. We get to follow Summer and Darce on the continuation of their adventure, to see how Summer gets to term with her newfound identity. I liked the sequel better than the first book, and much of it was because of the character development that I felt the first book lacked a little.

There where loads of heartbreaking moments, and jus

Chantal Gadoury did it again! Gilded ruins is the perfect sequel for a book as good as Blinding Night! It's picks up exactly where the first book ended and we get to accompany Summer, Darce and Morpheus on their way to Zeus and get to observe the game the other gods play with Summer. We get to know many different gods like Eros, Aphrodite, Dionysos and Poseidon, besides Summer's parents Demeter and Zeus, which is really cool. Like Darce they behave like normal people these days, well rich people ...more

Holy Hades! I adored Blinding Night but Gilded Ruins took the cake. From the very beginning and I mean the Dedication (they did Ben Solo so so wrong) to the very end I loved every second. The only thing I hated was my life getting In the way of being able to read! I loved the addition of seeing small things from other characters points of view but still maintained around Summer. Zeus was the perfect jerk as I myself have always seen Zeus to be. I’m not surprised by Poseidon and his yacht haha I ...more

I really love Persephone and Hades sooooo much and I need more retellings of them. I enjoy greek mythology in general and don't see much of it around. I think the character description was done very well in this book. I could very easily picture how she wanted each character to look. I also liked the temperaments of the Gods were very accurate to how I would actually expect them to be. I liked the main character seemed to have more a voice and backbone this time around. I was so excited to get the chance to read this sequel to the Hades and Persephone inspired story, Blinding Night. If you haven't read the first book, make sure to do that before reading this one. I think this story could stand by itself, but you'll be missing out on a large part of the experience. This book is mostly told from Summer's (Persephone) perspective, but we also get a couple short scenes from Darce (Hades), Arae, and Morpheus. So much more is revealed of the tragedy of the past, and ...more

I personally enjoyed this book more than the first because it has more character involvement, gods, etc., and it provided a lot of answers for questions I had from the first book, even if the ending felt a bit rushed.

3.5 I'm so glad to finally get my hands on this one since book one ended on such a cliff hanger. There is so much I liked about this book. The writing was good and the characters were interesting enough. But I really loved the way Morpheus saw Summer for Summer, and not just for a vessel for Persephone. It added depth to this story which is a retelling but also a tale of reincarnation... After waiting so long I'm a little sad it is over and maybe wasn't quite everything I wanted. ...more

Thank you Parliament Press and Chantal Gadoury for the eARC! Overall I thought the plot was pretty great and I loved how each of the Greek gods and goddesses were portrayed. I also loved how Aphrodite was a ‘they’ because they represented all types of beauty in the world which wasn’t limited to one gender. Zeus reminded me of Gatsby especially how he kept saying “ol’ boy” every 5 seconds 😆 I wasn’t a huge fan of Summer in this book because she made some silly decisions which I guess worked out f ...more
