The Line Between Obsession and Love has Disappeared

The world has changed. Any rules that mightve been in place before the Scorpius bacterium ripped through civilization and decreased its population are no longer in place. Obsession and survival are the new reality. So,

Avoid. Another author who starts a series but either doesn't finish or draaggs out the releases. This one was supposed to be released "soon" at the end of 2018. Then it was listed for release in Nov 2019. Now it is "supposed" to be released Feb of 2020. I'm done with this series and all Rebecaa Zanetti's books.
I remember being so excited with the first of the Scorpius books when Jaxs story first appeared on my feed, and thought that Rebecca Zanetti had a fantastic thing going herewith an overall narrative arc, several pairings set up for book sequels and a rich, dystopic world for exploration. That there was the introduction of new characters and pairings along the way made me want more as well.

But my excitement waned as the series wore on, not because of the context or the world-building itself, but

Knight Awakening is (I think?) the last book in the Scorpius Syndrome series, and I didn't really feel that it lived up to its predecessors. There was still action, romance, hardship, betrayal and danger. However, it didn't really have the same extremely urgent feel the other books had.
Also, I felt like the ending was way too 'easy' and kind of too nicely tied up in a bow than I would have expected. Some of the things that happened in the end weren't fully explained, so I was left with a hunger

Wonderful story! All loose ends were tied up!
Not sure whats going to happen in this life, but its you and me.

4.5 stars

The sixth and final (at least for now) book of the Scorpius Syndrome, this book has been a long time coming, but it was SO worth the wait! Marcus and Pennys story is sweet, funny, intense, super sexy and gorgeously romantic, set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world still searching for answers and dealing with every day dangers, but that is also finally starting to settle. I loved being back in this world, and

Considering whats happening in the world a book about the end of the world courtesy of a pandemic was apparently just what I needed. I cried at the end and was left with hope... who would have thought it?

In a time when a pandemic has wiped out 95% of the worlds population and left the rest changed, you have our hero who was ruthlessly experimented on to become a super soldier and our heroine who is a doctor that saved his life. Now he follows her around protecting her from the world until she

Bad ending to a good series

I felt as is this was just a quick end. It was not satisfying and felt rushed. Im very disappointed.

I have enjoyed the Scorpius Syndrome books from the start and I was looking forward to getting to know Marcus. I didn't realize until a few days prior to release day that this would be the series finale, but I was ready to see how things would be wrapped up.

Marcus is more animal than man when we meet him. He has been tortured and experimented upon by the government scientists, and he couldn't care less if he lives or dies until Dr. Penelope Kim arrives. She shows him more kindness than he has

I've really enjoyed the other books in this series, and had high hopes for this last installment....Oh well....

At least we finally got to meet Jax Mercury's brother, Marcus.

When Marcus is rescued from a bunker by Jax's forces, he has no memory of anything other than the gentle doctor, Penelope (aka Penny), who has always been kind to him. Marcus knows that the experiments his captors performed on him have stripped away his humanity, but if he can just keep Penny safe, it will have been worth

Rebecca Zanetti released KNIGHT AWAKENING, the sixth installment of her breathtaking Scorpius Syndrome series, and I have to say it was so satisfying. So. Satisfying. This is one of my favorite series -- the world building so believable, the characters so robust, the stakes so high. In KNIGHT, we finally get a better understanding of Marcus Knight and Dr. Penelope Kim and oh, boy, are they the right characters for today. I am invested equally in both characters, their plight sweeping me up in an ...more

Its the apocalypse and the country is trying to build itself back up. A virus name Scorpius, has infected most of the country. It affects the brain and can result in death, become a psycho, or living through it with the help of a concoction that makes it necessary to survive.

Penelope is a doctor and starts working at the same facility in which Marcus is being held and experimented on. Marcuss memories are gone and he has become obsessed with Doctor Penelope. When they meet the Vanguard

This was a great wrap up to a wonderful series. I was looking forward to Marcus and Penelope's story since they were introduced. These two quickly became one of my favorite couples. They had quite a steamy romance, but they also developed and grew into a strong couple. Marcus started out as a very overprotective male and as he began to find himself again that didn't change, but instead of it being an obsession it turned into a more loving protectiveness. Penny had a great personality but she too ...more

Working to be normal

Absolutely amazing! Loved Knight Awakening everything finally came full circle in this book and it was incredible!

Marcus Knight is struggling to fit in and be normal after Scorpius and the years he was tortured by scientists working for the government. He has been freed and reunited with a brother he doesn't remember, now struggling with his to handle Penelope Kim, the doctor that helped him while being held. Marcus knows he isn't good for the petite doctor but can't stay

This is the final book in the Scorpius Syndrome, and there were a lot of loose ties to work with. This book partly focused on the relationship between Marcus Knight and Dr. Penelope Kim, who first meet when Marcus is still a prisoner being tortured and she was brought in to be her physician. But since there were so many other stories to work with, they were hardly the focus of the book.

I liked this apocalyptic story, the way they struggled to survive, to find supplies, to try to provide a fairly

Knight Awakening concludes the post-apocalyptic world that was ravaged by the Scorpius virus wiping out 99% of the populations and leaving the remaining either totally insane, sociopaths with heightened senses.

This book was bittersweet in it was the final but it also was highly anticipated as we finally got Marcus Knight's story. In many ways I was very happy with the book. Marcus and Dr Penelope story was perfectly done. Small downsides were the book was riddled with grammar errors and the

I loved this book! Im sad to see the series end but Knight Awakening was worth waiting for. Marcus Knight is an amazing character and Penny is sweet and smart and takes no crap from Marcus!

The whole gang from the series takes front and center stage as they plan their mission, deal with Rippers and traitors, and figure out how to save the babies. Theyre all there to support Marcus as he comes alive, even as he endangers them all. He feels nothing...until he does. She consumes him. But hes got
I have LOVED this series from the very beginning. The whole concept of the Scorpius bacterium and the dystopian world that results was highly creative, and the stories for each couple were fun to read. Knight Awakening focused on Marcus and Penny, but attention is given to all of the couples in an effort to tie up all the loose ends. I hate to see it end, but this final installment delivers a satisfying end to the series.

As for the bonus short story at the end of the book, I don't understand why

Felt very repetitive. It was almost like I basically knew how this book would go because of all the past books. The ending was extremely rushed, which is sad because I felt like there were a lot of things repeated in the 3 quarters of the book that didnt need to be repeated. Therefore more of the ending could have been explored. Like how exactly those things happened to Marcus? The fight was so quick and superficial, I would have loved more emotion. And what about more with the whole Larry ...more

The exciting, action-packed conclusion to the Scorpius series has arrived! Markus and Penny were a pleasure to read. The road to healing for Markus was long, but with Penny by his side he could do anything. It was steamy and entertaining and so satisfying! I'm sad to see the series end, but it was wrapped up really well and I cannot find fault in it. All the previous characters were included and it just worked really well. Thanks to the author for this very entertaining series and I would love ...more

This is one of my favorite series of Ms. Zanetti's so I was thrilled to read Knight Awakening and get to know Marcus and Penelope! I enjoyed the novel immensely, but the finish did seem rushed. Although the, "You choose your title" business was amusing. I particularly loved the beginning of each chapter with a snippet from each journal. Marcus's were hilarious and in any book with such a series topic, there is a need for a light touch somewhere. I recommend this book and am sad to see the series ...more

Couldn't stop reading

This whole series is amazing and this final book is so good I couldn't stop reading. Tortured and experimented on for months Marcus Knight has lost his memory. He's to the point he's ready to give up and die. Then Penelope walks in. She's a doctor and is horrified at what's been done to him. She vows to try and help him escape. Then one day the facility is raided by the Vanguard and both Marcus and Penny are rescued. Turns out Marcus is Jax's brother. The storyline is

I absolutely loved Marcus and Penny!!! And reading about Scorpius during the Covid-19 is certainly scary and make you think and loose sleep but still be thankful we are not facing such a situation.
The only reason I didn't give a 5 stars review is because the ending feels to rush. Like tying things up but not really explaining or developing any further. It left me quite sceptical and thinking: that's it??
Not the best way to end a great serie.

Love heals

A continuation of The Scorpius Syndrome series that pulls you in from the first page. After years of torture Marcus is withdrawn and stoic. His focus is one hundred percent centered on Dr. Penelope the doctor who showed him kindness while he was caged. Her goodness and life must be protected from all threats at any cost. An action packed post-apocalyptic story with enemies you love to hate, and a love born out of tragedy that can heal a broken soul.

Marcus Knight survived Scorpios only to be used as a lab rat, tortured by scientists trying to create super soldiers. Finally rescued by his brother Jax and Vanguard soldiers, Marcus understands what's been done to him has changed him. He's formed an attachment to the young doctor who tried to save him from the scientists. Now part of Vanguard, Marcus finds he's beginning to come back to himself, the part that's soldier, and the part that feels.

Like frequently happen, I'm sad when one series come to end, especially when it's written so well and the story is interesting and engaging as the Scorpius Syndrome by Rebecca Zanetti. So, what there is to tell about this last main male character and smart female protagonist , scorching sex scenes and fast and exciting actions...and one particular that make me smile: the spanking, that never fail!
