A few months ago, Zoey jumped at a new job offer with an outsized salary. Now she's jumping from one abandoned house to another, subsisting on stale granola bars, hiding a thumb drive with enough information to bring down a crime boss--or get her killed.
When a stranger comes through the door of her latest hideout, she shoots first and runs without bothering to ask questions later. She can't trust anyone, no matter how badly she wants to beg six sexy feet of muscle and piercing blue eyes for help.
Cole knew his latest flip would come with unpleasant surprises. Being shot at wasn't one of them. His ex-SEAL instincts save his skin, and tell him this wildcat is no typical squatter. She needs help, and his gut unexpectedly twists to bring down whoever put the pure fear in her steel-gray eyes.
Even if it means straining frayed family ties to the limit...and laying everything on the line to save her life. Right down to his heart.
Linzi Baxter hails from Bismarck, North Dakota, but currently lives in Orlando, Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Central Florida and is currently in the process of earning her MBA from the same university.
Baxter works as an IT Manager for the local government and spends her free time playing with her basset hound, watching college sports, traveling to Europe’s great cities, and reading romance. It was that last passion that inspired her to write her debut novella, Hacker Exposed.
Zoey became homeless a few months ago. She broke off a small piece of a stale granola bar when her stomach growled. She was staying in a foreclosed house for a few nights. Unfortunately, there was no water for a shower. No electricity either. As former CFO of Walker Consulting, she gathered enough information on a thumb drive she carried in her pocket to bring down the crime boss, Nixson Walker, whose men were relentlessly after her. She knew they would torture her to get the information she had. He wanted her dead. For 3 months, she had evaded them. But as she sat on the floor, the front door squeaked. A tall, muscular man entered and she shot him – or shot “at” him since she missed. His name was Cole and he owned the empty house. He told her they would get something to eat while she told him more about the man who was after her. If she trusted him by then, he would help her. But she trusted no one by now and ran away.
Cole is an ex-SEAL and he saw the terror someone had put in this lady’s eyes. She was squatting in his flip house and, knowing she needs help, he follows her when she runs from him. Can he help save her?
Be ready for a wild, action-packed adventure! This book is so good, with excellent characters, a tense story line, and incredible descriptions that pull the reader into the action and make it real! This is an incredibly good reading experience and I highly recommend it for your enjoyment!

When Cole went to check out his latest flip property he couldn't have expected meeting a woman that would change his life. Zoey is on the run from her boss, hiding in an abandoned home trying to find a way to stay alive. There were a good number of twists to keep the plot moving in this story. There was a good chemistry between Zoey and Cole. He was protective, but not too overbearing. Zoey called him on the times he was being overprotective, and I really liked her spunkier moments. There were plenty of sweet moments between these two as well. I did think there were some time-jumps in the story that felt a little odd to me, but not enough to truly detract from the story.
I have not read the first book in this series. This story did okay as a stand-alone, there is enough information to fill-in some of the background for the first Flipping Love Story. There is also some cross-over with characters from the White Hat Security series, so I'm interested in reading those stories to fill-in some of the additional background (and I want to see more about Kat and Antonio).
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book!
Unlocking Hope: Special Forces Operation Alpha: A Flipping Love Story Book Two is by Linzi Baxter. This book is one you don’t want to put down; but one you can vividly remember should you have to put it down. There is a lot of action in this book. Zoey has no where to go. Her life is in dancer. Pete, a vagrant, told her of houses that were vacant and shower she might even fine=d a little bit of food. The house she was in was vacant and showed signs of others who had stayed here. The place was a mess and smelled even worse. Just as she thought it might be safe, she heard a noise. Someone was coming in her direction. Cody was medically retired from the military; but was in good health and he and a friend, Ian, bought houses and flipped them. This house would be great when he finished. He heard a noise and went towards it. It was a girl, dirty, but with a gun in her hand. He tried to persuade her he was OK but she shot at him. Thank goodness she missed. However, she did run. He followed her to keep her safe and find out why she was running even before he found her at the house. The answers to his questions may cause danger for him and for her. Could they handle that?
This is the first I've read from the Special Forces: Operation Alpha series. I am not a stranger to Linzi Baxter, however and had high expectations for this book. I am happy to say this book surpassed my expectations. There is non stop action from the very beginning and a heart wrenching situation. Zoe is the CFO working for a man she thought was nice. Wrong! She finds out how wrong when she witnesses a murder. Turns out she's working for a crime boss, Clyde Walker, that has been on the governments radar for years. Cole is an ex-Navy SEAL turned house flipper. When he finds her hiding in his newest property, she thinks he's there to take her so she shoots at him. Thank goodness she is not a good shot. This book deals with homelessness, veterans on the streets, kidnapping, military camaraderie and getting justice. To say this book is good is just not enough. It's freaking great!! I highly recommend this book and I will be rereading this one myself. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
5 stars I received a free copy of the novella Unlocking Hope: A Flipping Love Story book 2: Special Forces Operation Alpha: Badge of Honor World:Zoey and Cole by Linzi Baxter and this review was given freely. A good crossover novel connecting both the East and West Coasts series with Texas. Complex, suspenseful and action packed containing a twisted family drama that is ever changing and, a great introduction to the expanding Flipping family. After three months on the run, Zoey continues to lament leaving her job as financial advisor for the Black brother's Nova Satellite Security company in favor of working for Nixson Walker. But her luck changes when a tip from her mentor, homeless person Paul, places her in former Navy SEAL Cole's San Antonio "abandoned house". A twist of fate pits Cole against his family in this steamy classic tale of good vs evil.

I loved every moment of this book! That didn't surprise me as I've adored each and every book that I've ever read by this author. Zoey has been on the run and living on the streets for months. After having witnessed a horrific event she KNOWS important people are after her. All she has to do is survive. Each passing day gets harder and harder. She's running on fumes and barely anything to eat. Thanks to a fellow homeless person she learned off a vacant home to squat in for now. The last thing she expected was the yummy ex SEAL to show up out of the blue. Is he her savior, or could he be working for those after her? This series is so exciting! Filled with secrets, political intrigue, government operatives, ex special forces friends and one fierce woman determined to survive at all costs! I honestly can't wait for book three in the series!!
Omgosh!! Grabs your coattails from the beginning so hold on for your life! It’s a stand-alone but a few people from previous books pop in to help. She saw and found out things that put her life in jeopardy and has her running for her life. You get to see her concern for others while she has a target on her back. He was a Navy Seal who is now working with his best friend flipping houses. He gets involved when he finds her squatting in his flip house and follows her when she runs. He is also committed to helping others and it plays out with them both. There is lots of drama and is action packed. I was holding my breath while reading certain scenes. Beware! It could be a one sitting read for you, too! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
Zoey is hiding in an abandoned house to escape the villain responsible for criminal activities. She was the CFO of the organization and witnessed a murder. She has all the incriminating evidence of a flash drive. Cole enters the house to prepare it for flipping. He immediately assists Zoey with her basic needs and protects her from dangerous forces. She was befriended by a homeless veteran that she and Cole provide care and protection. This is a fast paced of intrigue and danger as Cole's family becomes intricately involved in the danger facing Zoey. The flash drive is given to one of Cole's brothers who is in the CIA and helps to bring down much of the criminal organization. The intrigue becomes very intense as it becomes clear the Cole's mother is the master-mind in the criminal enterprise. There is continuous action within the family until all the threats are eliminated. Cole inherited a fortune and he Zoey devote time and money to provide care for homeless veterans and others in need of physical and emotional support. There are many facets to this story as it involves many characters who are revealed in-depth. It is a fast paced page turner with intrigue, violence, compassion and romance. It was an excellent story that I would recommend to others.
Unlocking Hope is book two in Baxter's A Flipping Story Series. This is Cole Walker's story.. he is Ian's sexy tattooed business partner. This story starts were book one ended. Zoey Thomas is the leading lady, she is on the run from some bad people. She will catch Cole's eye, when she shoots him the first time they meet. Cole will stop at nothing to keep her safe and make her His. I am enjoying this series!! I will definitely be checking out the other series this author as written. Happy Reading!!
This is an exciting read with suspense, drama and plenty of steamy scenes. A hunky former Seal turned flipper finds a scared homeless woman in the house he bought to flip. The scared woman shots at him but misses and runs. When he follows he finds her cornered by 3 thugs. The woman is in trouble and has something someone else wants. He takes her home and as she begins to trust him he finds out her secret involves his corrupt family. He has his hands full keeping her safe and calls in Tex and his best friend. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Cole met Zoey when he walked into a house he was planning on flipping. She took a shot at him but missed. He followed her and saved her life. Then he offered her the one thing she really wanted, a hot shower. Zoey had a zip drive and her ex boss really wanted it back. They were shocked to find out the man in the video was Cole's uncle. Cole told Zoey that they would bring his family down.
Book two in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha/A Flipping Love Story series a well written story. It is mainly Zoey Thomas and Cole Walker's story there is suspense, drama, danger, gangsters, friends, villains, kidnapping, and romance. I want to read the next book. Zoey is in a fight for her life and when she has to face the owner of the abandoned home she is currently squatting in, will she come away with her life? As Cole learns more about Zoey and who she is running from, will he have to choose between Zoey and his family?
This book certainly has gripped my attention and there is more of a story with Cole’s brothers that’s for sure. I certainly did not expect the twists and turns this book had. Loved Zoey and Cole together.
Cole flips houses with Ian. While checking on one of the houses, he finds a woman there and she shoots at him. Zoey has been hiding out for a couple of months since she witnessed her boss kill a man. She has a USB drive that proves it. She shot out at the man who found her because she doesn't know if he is after her. Zoey is staying with Cole while they work with Tex to bring down the man after her. There are many twists and turns and you have no clue who to believe. Loved it!!
