Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, theres more sharks out there. Seriously, the con game angle has been played up more times than you can count even if youre not counting cards and everyone has written about card sharks, mechanics, three card monte masters. Going back to Newman and Redford in the Sting, weve seen every con game, every grift, every low down dirty trick. Theres nothing much new under the sun except maybe that email from Nigeria.

Price Hike is a fast-paced crime fiction with strong characters and a complex enough setup to allow for emotional engagement. It's a complicated affair and too-detailed a description might spoil the fun, so here's a basic intro:

This is the latest novel from Preston Lang, an author who was new to me till about a year ago when he was recommended to me by my elder son and whose work Ive thoroughly enjoyed since then.

Payton or P8 as she is more commonly known on the Beckfords online chat site was the

So Entertaining

This is the second book by Lang I have read and he has shot up on the list of go to authors. His books are well written, well plotted, sardonic, and his characters act like human beings(well twisted humans). Has a bit of the Elmore Leonard /Charles Willeford about him, which is a very good thing. Check this book out and other noir novels published by the All Due Respet imprint of Down and Out Publishing.

Preston Lang always takes some really clever angles with his crime stories, and this one is especially distinctive. The way he depicts grifters and their doings here is a lot of fun.
