Zoltán Gábor írói koncepciója ugyanis kimerül abban, hogy a ’44-45-ös év nyilas rémtetteit (rablás, kínzás, gyilkosság, nemi erősz ...more

It`s hard to say anything about this book. You don`t `like` a book like this no matter how good it is.And it is a good one. It`s frightening and shocking itself but the most shocking the afterword, which says that before writing the book Gabor Zoltan made an extensive research in the archives to know what really happened in Budapest in late `44 - early `45, when the Arrowcross Party ruled the streets. After reading the afterword, you simply can`t say it`s only a work of fiction, that what is wri ...more

This is a major book, one that I will have to read again or mull about. An absolutely shocking and deeply distressing read, it attempts to discover at least one piece in the horrible puzzle of how all this could happen? It is disconcerting to see how ordinary men and women could descend to these depths of cruelty, even bestiality, and see all the horrible acts they were doing as perfectly normal, moreover morally unquestionable.

Real horror isn't vampires or monsters. It's fellow man. This book gives a fictional account of the unspeakable horrors that took place on the last days of World War II Hungary. Reader beware, it's not an easy book to digest...

I left it off after some 50 pages. Just too much graphic violence. Even if it is historically correct.

Nem voltam annyira lenyűgözve, a vége kifejezetten összecsapottnak tűnt. Regenykent 3/5, kordokumentumkent 5/5
