Lee Doyle was born in San Francisco and spent most of her childhood and young adult years in the Salinas Valley of California. At 17, she quit high school and left home for the Southern California coast. Lee later moved to Southern France where she lived for nearly a year in an eleventh-century abbey. She returned to San Francisco in 1984 and graduated from San Francisco State University in 1991 with a Bachelor's degree in French. Lee currently lives in Marin County, California, with her husband and daughter, and is at work on her second novel.
