Where There’s Smoke is MJ Fredrick’s first published title and is of the friends-to-lovers trope that I adore. Combining together the complications that arise when two people who have always been friends find themselves in unchartered territory together with the added complications of two families who have been friends and much more through the years finds betrayal of the worst kind lurking right amongst them, Where There’s Smoke is a contemporary romance that delivers a lot of emotional angst w ...more
TBR Challenge 2012- Personal challenge (books on my list before 2011): This has been on my to-read list since June 2010.

3.5/5 Grade B

After reading Hot Shot, I was expecting this book to be another firefighter romantic suspense. I should've read the description more carefully. This involves a firefighter, but it isn't a romantic suspense, it's straight contemporary romance with a friends-to-lovers theme. That's not necessarily bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting.

This is a compelling book on s

What a horrid book and horrid excuse for a romance. I hate unrequited stories because normally one party comes across as pathetic and in this case it was the heroine. She was so hungry for the hero that she constantly humiliated herself, begging for scraps. He wasn't any hero for sure. Starting something with her and all the while looking elsewhere and looking for an out. When he broke up with her after only a few days he wasn't heart-broken but dating and I am sure screwing everything and every ...more

I love books about friends turned lovers and this book even involved firefighters, so that’s definitely a plus in my book. This book not only had a great romance between two long time friends, it also had hidden family secrets, and some major issues that just may tear these two apart before they even have a chance.

Lauren’s father is the Fire Chief at the department Seth works for. Seth’s father also works at the fire department. Their father’s have been friends since before they were married wit
A very good shorter story that I finished in one sitting. A best friends to lover theme, but also the families were best friends too. The hero is mainly a man whore who feels he could never be faithful because infidelity runs in his family. He starts to notice his best friend Lauren on a different level, starts a relationship with her and then breaks his heart because of his insecurities. I really felt bad for her when he continued his dating life and she waited for him to see her as his "one". ...more

Carino, hot ma non volgare. La storia un po' troppo alla "The Bold and The Beautiful" , ma ci stava. Mi spiace non poter dare una mezza stella in più, però 4 stelle non le merita XD.

Does our fear of becoming our parents hinder us from making good decisions? That's the question I felt this book was asking. As with most of the romance novels I read, there was a 90% certainty the main couple was going to end up together so I looked in detail at the other parts of the plot. The answer is that no, we shouldn't let our parents' lives effect ours. If we do, we stand to lose out big time.

This book is a pretty easy read. I had it finished in a couple of hours. If there's a negative,

I really enjoyed "Where there's smoke" by M.J. Fredrick. It was a book about getting through the betrayals of family to come together and still find love at the end. It was intense, heartbreaking, and powerful. Love truly can conquer all when it's right between two people.

This book had a nice love story. However, the parental storyline upset me so much that I couldn't enjoy it.
