Okay, so sometimes the third book in a series starts to become a bit repetitive or boring for me and my excitement wanes…THIS BOOK THOUGH, only got better! The third book in the Annie Collins mystery series was just amazing!

The action starts off so fast, we’re immediately thrown into a wedding in upheaval and an escaped convict determined to ruin Annie and Angel. It was an exciting, thrilling story that I couldn’t put down!

I really think that it is best if you start this series from the beginnin

The Burden of Hate Pulls from Earlier Books in the Series. If you read my review of The Mad Hatter's Son, you know I struggled a bit to get into the story--then enjoyed the story line. In No Pity in Death, the author picked up where the first book left us and kept a nice pace as she introduced her new mystery and entwined some subplots and side stories. Each novel is a standalone story--but, because the characters and events of previous books revisit either directly or as subplots and memories-- ...more

I chose to listen to this audiobook after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Burden of Hate can be read as a standalone but it would be better after reading Mad Hatter’s Son and No Pity in Death.

Annie and and Angel are getting married! Angel’s mom makes sure that it’s a beautiful wedding, but sometimes you can’t plan everything.

The main focus of Burden of Hate is how Annie and Angel deal with Ian breaking out of prison. He’s back, and he’s ma

After reading The Mad Hatter’s Son and No Pity in Death by Helen Starbuck, the first two books in An Annie Collins Mystery Book series, I was more than ready to read Book 3, The Burden of Hate! I feel like the main character, Annie Collins, has become a good friend of mine and I hope everything goes well for her!

Here in The Burden of Hate, Annie is once again pulled into another mystery. This time, it’s the sudden and tragic death of the priest who was supposed to marry Annie and Angel. Annie’s

If you haven't read books #1 and #2 in the Annie Collins series, I suggest you start there. These three titles chronologically follow Annie's life, so while you can still enjoy them, you will miss a bit if you read them out of order.

In The Burden of Hate, we are offered two plotlines. The first and largest is the threat to Annie and Angel's lives. They have finally fully embraced their relationship and are on the verge of tying the knot when they hear her psychopathic ex has escaped from prison

I have had the pleasure of previously reading the two books from the Annie Collins Mystery series by Helen Starbuck, The Mad Hatter’s Son and No Pity In Death. So, I was excited to have the opportunity to listen to the audio version the next and newest installment, The Burden of Hate. Even though this is part of a series, I believe it can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed catching up with Annie Collins and seeing where she is at now. She is such an entertaining and fun character to spend a few

It is hard enough to plan a wedding while worrying about a murderous psychopath bent on revenge. But Annie Collins is tying the knot with the man of her dreams, ADA Angel Cisneros. But the killer, brilliant and determined, manages to infiltrate the wedding and injure Angel. From that point on it is a tense cat and mouse game between Annie, Angel and the killer. The police are flummoxed and cannot get a handle on the escaped killer. In the meantime, the priest that was supposed to officiate at th ...more

A tragic love story

I enjoyed reading Ms. Helen Starbuck's writing before. I knew that this story is no different. A tragic love story of an unforgetful relationship and the hate that cannot let go.

I am blown away by the author's writing. It is hard to put the book down. You just want to go to the bottom of the story and finished reading this exciting, suspenseful, and love story.

There are times in our lives that we have to let go of the past and moved on. Sometimes it is hard to go forward. Re

This is my first book that I’ve read or listened from the author. I didn’t read the first two books and I was able to enjoy this audiobook without having to go back and listen to the first two books. The author did a great job of bringing the listener up to speed in regards to what happened in the previous books. I found the main character enjoyable and I felt for her. The narrator did well. If you don’t pay close attention it’s easy to get lost when she uses her female and male voice. Not a lot ...more

This book is really enjoyable. There is a murder but also we get a continuation of what happened in the first two books. You really need to read the first two books before you read this one or you will be very confused. This book starts with a bang and ends with a bang. There are lots of twists and turns. I did miss that Annie wasn’t in the hospital much this time. I enjoyed the medical aspects of the first two books. This had a wonderful mystery. I received a copy of this book from ireadbooktou ...more

I had the audiobook version: What a fantastic book! It’s the third in a series but I haven’t read the first 2, it gives you a view over who the characters are and what’s happened so far tho so that didn’t matter.
There are 2 main story lines in the book and I adored both of them! With a mystery book I can offer guess what’s coming but I was pleasantly surprised with this book as I didn’t see the conclusion to one of the parts coming!
Fantastic book, I will definitely be checking out the rest of t

While I completely enjoyed the suspense and mystery, what really made me enjoy the book was the emergence of a stronger Annie and how the story of her and Angel emerged.

It seemed like the story and the characters keep getting better as I progressed from The Mad Hatter's Son to No Pity in Death and now to this third book in the Annie Collins' Mystery series. I enjoyed this book the most of the three as the story of Annie really seemed to come together more fully in it.

A completely engaging light

This is am amazing book. The third in the Annie Collins series, the author gently reminds the reader of what Annie and Angel have been through. This plot is very suspenseful and totally believable. Highly recommend
Also highly recommend The Mad Hatter’s Son, the first in the series so you can get to love the characters as I do
Hope there’s a fourth

The Burden of Hate is book #3 in the Annie Collins Mystery Series. It follows the continuing story of Annie Collins and Angel Cisneros as they cope with a wedding, his mother, and the escape of the man convicted of killing three people and attempting to kill Annie. They survive the wedding, barely, but the consequences of being the target of a killer are devastating. The question is, who will settle the score between them and the killer?
