Monster is brave and not afraid of anything, that is until he goes to visit his friend on Halloween. With ghosts, vampires, pumpkin heads and other creature Monster gets scared. His friends father explains what is going on and Monster overcomes his fear. I enjoyed this story, it was fun and overcoming being afraid of something is hard to do. The interaction between the boy and the Monster was great. The illustrations were well done and delightfully colourful. It is age appropriate and the narrative is rhythmic. Children seem to respond well to books written this way. It is clever, creative and has a great message.

Super Cute!

I read this story with my son and he really enjoyed it. It was easy to read and had a nice flow. We enjoyed the pictures which fit nicely with the story. We also enjoyed the flip that it was the monster being afraid of kids in costumes rather than the kids being afraid of a monster. It's great to show that everyone can be afraid sometimes no matter how tough and brave they usually are and there's nothing wrong with that. Great overall message with a fun premise.

This is an adorable book about overcoming fears and friendship. What makes it even better is it takes place at Halloween! My son enjoyed this book and was amazed that a monster, with three eyes, didn’t know what Halloween was. We loved the story and the illustrations are great. I would recommend this book to anyone who love cute monsters.

An intriguing adorable story about trying something new even if you're nervous. My daughter (7) loved it and the characters.

Monster's first Halloween

Here is a review from a 7 year old.

Some of the words didn't rhyme, and some of the rhymes didn't make sense. The pictures were great though, and over all it was a cute story.

Such a cute little book with great rhyming verse. It's like the Night Before Christmas but for Halloween. Also great for fans of Little Critter by Mercer Mayer.
