She made a big mistake. You don’t blackmail a Tacone.
Coming to me with a threat? Unacceptable.
If she needs money, she’ll have to ask nicely.
But once I give it to her, we both know what it means:
She belongs to me.
I do my best to hold back. Give her respect.
Because she was there when I got shot.
She’s the girl from my nightmares—the one I have to protect.

Gio Tacone. My dark prince. I freaking love it.

This one is about Gio Tacone and Marissa Milano. Gio was shot at her family’s cafe, and Marissa was there when it happened. Marissa has been terrified of the Tacone family since that day, and Gio has been having nightmares since surviving the near fatal bullet. When those dreams start including Marissa and her demise, he goes to see her. That’s when it all starts. That’s when the inevitability that is Gio & Marissa begins. After that it’s just

Dead Man's Hands was another delicious Renee Rose read I could not stop reading. it is a standalone in the Vegas Underground Mafia series and I could not help but become so engrossed in Gio and Marissa's love.

I loved this story!! OMG was it uber hot and sexy. Gio and his dirty talking alpha self was legit FIRE and I for one was here for it. I love how this story was both sexy and emotional. After a near-death experience in the last book, Gio Tacone realizes that there is more to life than just

Gio oh Gio how I love you... haha. Omg, I loved this story. We have seen Gio in a few of the other books and had some idea of who he is. But dang what a character he is. Gio is a complicated mafia man that deep down is soft and considerate. He just needed the right woman to have in his life to bring it out.

Marissa is that woman. She is a strong character that brings every emotion that Gio hides out. Marissa has taken care of everyone in her family to the point that she has no life and doesn't

Good as always

Another great addition to the series. Hot and sexy as ever, but a good story of finding the one and fighting for it! The Tacone brothers always have each other’s back!

Dead Man’s Hand is the seventh book in the Vegas Underground Mafia Romance series, and while it can definitely be read as a stand alone, I think it’s richer knowing what happened previously. Geo has been having nightmares ever since he’s been shot, but not about something happening to him, but to Marissa. As he spends more time with her, was he given a second chance at life to be with her, or will he be destined to be a dead man walking?

Oh my, I really enjoyed this addition to the series, loved

Excellent story ! Gio is healed from his gun shot wound, but has nightmares and lots of time to think about things. Marissa is working two jobs one she loves at the restaurant and the other is keeping her grandparents cafe running, she also has nightmare about the night Gio was shot. Marissa looks up and who's in her cafe watching her it's Gio of course. This is a thinking story both characters are at a crisis point in their lives and while they seem to be coming together Marissa is fighting ...more

The Milano Girl and a Man of His Word

Another fantastic read in the Vegas Underground Series! If you like alpha heroes Renee Rose is the one to deliver them every time! A hot read with Gio and Marissa’s story that will keep you gripped from the outset to the very last word. A beautifully written storyline around a second chance at life! A book I can only but highly recommend as it shows with the very much deserved 5 stars given.
Can Gio face his dark demons and nightmares? Can Marissa, who saw

One of, if not my favorite of this series. There is just something about the brothers in this series that has me enamoured. They all have their demons or baggage being a part of this nefarious family. However, I think Gio struggles with it the most which is why I felt an infinity with him. It is also why I think that I related to Marissa as well. These two were both struggling with being a part of the shooting that almost took Gio's life.

I enjoyed how the author incorporated an almost

This story, for me, had all the feels. I wanted Gio's story so bad and was thrilled when I found out he was getting it. The emotions ran high as Marissa would submit to him but still didn't want her family to know where she got the money to pay for a surgery a family member needed. And even though Gio didn't seem interested in "getting involved" in a relationship, he sure came to want her with him all the time. LOL They both fought their attraction for each other and that made it so much ...more

This is a fantastic story. I couldn't put it down. I love reading anything by this author. I loved the interactions between Marissa and Gio.

Marissa was there on the day that Gio was shot. Months later, he finds his way back to the restaurant. He realizes that there is something more to Marissa that he would like to explore. Marissa needs to find some money in order for her cousin to get a surgery. She goes to Gio to borrow money. Gio gives it to her but the payment plan is different. She needs

My favorite series by this author! The Tacones are the mafia bad boys that you just love to death - hopefully not your own. This book is by far the most romantic and emotion driven, and I was seduced by the author’s words to the point where I couldn’t put the book down once I started. This was one of those stories where you felt as a reader that your continued immersion was necessary for the characters to reach their happy ending. Cant wait till the cards are dealt again, and another one of the ...more

OMG! I absolutely loved this story! This series of books about the Tacone family has made me look forward to each and every single one! The action, the push and pull between these characters and the steam is hotter than ever! Renee Rose has a great hit on her hands! This has so many of the feels that make for a great story! And HEA is always worth reading!! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

This series just gets better and better. This time it’s Gio’s story, he turns up at Marissa’s restaurant (she’s been in other books) and surprises her as he’s still alive! There’s a tremendous amount of action in this book, absolutely riveting from start to finish, the characters just came alive right from the beginning. Fabulous book. Loved it.

Wow, I love this book! Gio and Marissa reconnect after the incident in the last book. He protects her and loves, he makes her come alive. Very good book, well written!

This is Gio and Marissa story. Gio is trying to figure out what his purpose in life is after his near death experience. Marissa wants to help her cousin. Their love match is not an easy one but sparks fly when they are together. An enjoyable read.

I absolutely loved Gio and Marissa's story!

Gio was nearly killed outside Marissa's family's restaurant, and though he survived they both remain haunted by that day's events. Gio feels he needs to protect Marissa, and she can't help but be drawn to him even though her family has tried desperately to get out from under the Tacone family influence.

A family emergency has Marissa turning to Gio for help, and that one simple act launches a steamy, revelatory romance that quickly explodes into far

We met Gio in a previous book, Jokers Wild. This is part of the Vegas Underground series, and my opinion should be read in order so you know the back story for everyone. Not necessary, but it would be better to do so. Makes the reading experience better.

Oh my Gods, I love, love Gio Tacone. He's the right amount of alpha to handle someone like Marissa. Totally alpha, but still so sweet when it comes to her.
Gio hadn't been quite the same since he was shot, and he wonders about a lot in his life.

Each book in this series gets better. Definitely 4.5 stars. Although there are situations referenced from previous books in each book, they can be read as standalones. There is just enough information provided so you know what is going on, and possibly enough to make you go back at read the earlier books.

Gio and Marissa fit so well together. They both were vulnerable after the attack Him survived, and somehow managed to make one another whole. They filled a need in not sure either Gio or Marissa

Gio Tacone was shot outside of Milano's Deli when a meeting with his brother and the Bratva went bad. Marissa Milano was a witness, had tried to warn Junior and for her silence the Tacone's fixed the window, had the place cleaned and a new cooler was bought...Gio survived after Junior kidnapped a nurse to stay with him, but has nightmares and a "what should I be doing now" feeling since surviving, as Junior trying to bring the Tacone family businesses into legitimacy. Marissa is now a graduate ...more

Once again, Renee Rose penned a story that I couldn't get enough of in the Vegas Underground series, and devoured in a matter of hours. Gio Tacone was shot at Marissa Milano's family cafe, and she was there when it happened. It gave her nightmares, and she's been terrified of the Tacone family ever since, while Gio has been experienced his own set of nightmares as well. However, when those nightmares start starring Marissa, he decides to go & see her, which doesn't make her happy, but it ...more

At first I thought Gio would be just as alpha as his brothers, and in his own way he was, however he kept giving Marissa the chance to leave (which I really wish he didn’t - at least not after the first time). Marissa got to decide if she wanted a relationship, if she wanted to see him again, etc- he let her call those shots- when she agreed then he took over but not until she was all in. Unfortunately for him most of the time she seemed to have one foot out the door, not because of him but ...more

This is the seventh book of this awesome series about the romances of the Tacone family. The family businesses are almost all legal these days but the Tacone name is still carries a lot of fear and negativity. Gio Tacone's life is off kilter and he is just a little lost since his brush with death (see book six, His Queen of Clubs for the full back story) but Marissa makes him feel alive and colors his world. Even though her experiences with the family have been terrifying, Marissa is - and ...more

I plowed through this Mafia romance. Gio is one of the Tacone brothers. He has a huge, scary reputation but can't find his purpose & meaning in the world. What is there to live for? There is a profound sadness in Gio that I found appealing. Marissa helps look after her aging grandparents' diner, and is underemployed in a fine dining restaurant. Living in a close knit Italian family, she is used to looking after her people but she has her limits. There is a tension to her, like she is going

Every time I think I’ve read my favourite book in the series along comes another cracker - I just love the Tacones. Gio survived a shooting in a previous book and is struggling with his place in life. It transpires he’s never felt totally comfortable in the mobster lifestyle, but what really got to me was just how sensitive this guy is - total marshmallow on the inside but ticks all the boxes for alpha male at the same, win, win! Marissa is a feisty heroine who is drawn to Gio ...more

We pick up where we left off. Gio healing and trying to erase the nightmare of when he was shot. Marissa, too, is trying to get through that day. She has the reminder of Junior putting a gun to her head. Gio remembers the shooting over and over again. These two need the comfort of the other to get beyond the pain. I do love that Gio realized that this whole thing was life changing and deciding to change his life. He and Marissa were meant to be from the beginning. I love these two as much as all ...more

This doesn’t quite take over the top spot as my favorite in the series, but it’s a close race. We’re back to learn more of the fallout from the skirmish between the Russians and the Tacones. Now, as anyone who’s read many of my reviews probably already knows, I adore a wounded warrior hero. A description Gio fits to a ‘T’. His body may be mostly recovered from the events of that day, but his mind and emotions haven’t quite caught up yet. He’s haunted by the memories of what happened and, even ...more

Family is everything, but still not enough

—>>> After his recovery from being gunned down right outside Caffe Milano, Gio does not realize what is missing from his life until he is confronted with a woman determined to blackmail him and the infamous Tacone family in order to help her niece, with no other options possible at the time. Marissa has a lot in common with Gio and finds herself drawn to the man he is but remains understandably leery of his reputation with the mafia family who
