Weird Girls: Flame #3

Of Flame and Fury

Rate this book
Taran Wird, the loudmouth mistress of flame and lightning, didn’t want to attend the formal gathering of the supernatural elite. She did so only to help to unite the supreme beings in attendance in one common goal: protecting Taran’s sister, Celia.

Celia is pregnant with alpha werewolf Aric Connor’s child, the same child prophesized to save the world from uprising evil. Evil wants this child dead before he is born and, more importantly, before he can grow strong enough to stop it.

Taran and her werewolf lover, Gemini, put plans in place to protect Celia. Master Vampire Misha Aleksandr and his clan also swear their allegiance to Celia and vow to keep her from harm. The witches even cast protection spells around the manor to curse anyone with malintent who enters. Nothing was supposed to go wrong, except everything did.

Creatures that shouldn’t exist stalk the grounds and invade the premises, and every curse meant to shield the guests turns against them. No one counted on the powerful being who arrived uninvited. But he’s here, manipulating the magic enclosing the estate to work in his favor.

As body counts rise and allies become enemies, chances are Celia won’t survive the night. But evil never counted on how hard Taran Wird would fight, even at the expense of her life.

Of Flame and Fury is book three in the Flame series and book nine in the Weird Girls series by Cecy Robson.

I’ve had a blast with this world and continue to enjoy each new installment. I would recommend reading in order. The Weird sisters are amazing and unique women.

Of Flame and Fury we conclude Gemini and Taran’s storyline. Yet, this is not the end of the series; because the author hints at the end that there is more to coming.

This story starts off with a bang and continues throughout the whole story. The main focus is protecting Celia and her baby. It’s a fast-paced action-packed story, but it felt a bit too much; to over the top, too much death and destruction, and just all around overkill. I enjoy action packed stories, but this was excessive.

Taran, for all her failings in the magical world, is a powerhouse for trudging through an exhausting evening. I like that we get her and Gemini’s happy every after and a surprise at the end.

Their's a lot of wonderful and interesting characters, but this time around we don’t get to spend time with them. The battle overshadows this diverse family.

We do get to see that something is going on with Emma and Bren. The few times we see them in the same room it broke my heart. Their issue has been going on for a few books now and I would have liked to know what’s up. I'm hoping the author gives us them next.

Of Flame and Fury was a whirl wind ride and I look forward to the next installment.

Wow! Of Flame and Fury proved to be an awesome read and a great conclusion to Gemini and Taran’s story. However, this is not the end of the series as the ending hinted of more to come.

Of Flame and Fury is book 9 in the Weird Girls series and the third book which features Taran as the principal character. The focus of this installment was on protecting Celia’s baby. All the powerful supernatural beings came together to ensure the safety of the child that was prophesied as being their saviour. They put plans in place and cast protection spells, however something sinister breached their inner sanctum, placing everyone in a dangerous situation with no hope of survival. However, Taran was not about to let evil win. She would protect those she loved at the risk of her own life.

Throughout the series, Tarin has matured. She still spews snarky comments, but she no longer allowed her fears to rule her. The witches and the vamps no longer look down on her, and her relationship with Gemini has grown exponentially. In this book, readers will see how powerful Tarin had become. Although the story centered on Taran, the secondary characters played an important role in moving the story forward.

The story hit the ground running. Non-stop action, which would leave readers breathless and hanging on to the edge of their seats. The villain’s hunger for power led to the creation of abominable creatures, created for the sole intent to destroy. Any empathy that had developed for this character quickly disappeared.

This installment was driven by action, therefore, the private moments between Tarin and Gemini were few. However, whenever they had these moments, they were tender, sweet and filled with passion.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Cecy Robson treated readers to a heart pounding and an adrenaline pumping story, which had the perfect blend of action, thrills and romance. Of Flame and Fury delivered intense and mind-blowing scenes with a perfect ending, which will leave readers feeling satisfied.

With Celia heavily pregnant with the child that is supposed to save the world the whole supernatural community, from the Pack to the vampires and even the witches, have come together to keep her safe. Their enemies are converging though and they are equally determined to kill Celia before the child is born. This battle will be the fiercest one yet and Taran will do anything to protect her sister, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.

Of Flame and Fury is the final book of the Weird Girls series told from Taryn's point of view but I don't believe it will be the last book in the series. I'm not sure which sister will be up next but I'm already looking forward to continuing the adventures! This book was pretty much non stop action from beginning to end, their enemies are out in force and its going to take everyone working together if they want to save Celia. Taran has to make some difficult decisions but alongside Gemini, Aric, Shayna and Emme they will never give up.

While I loved the battle scenes in this book I have to admit I would have liked some more quieter moments where we just got to spend time with the characters we know and love. There was less humour in this book because there was so much danger and I missed that a little here. It was still a fab instalment though and I'm more eager than ever to get to Emme and Shayna's stories so I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one!

Sizzling hot flame magic and a larger than life personality are Taran's defense against a world that has long shut her out or tried to kill her. Now, her oldest sister is vulnerable with an unborn child and evil has targeted Celia. Taran will do what it takes to protect Celia even against a being who betrayed her friendship to seek the power of a god. This series has stood stood strong through many conflicts facing the Wird sisters. I am jazzed over each new release especially as we come to the climax of Taran's part of the story.

Of Flame and Fury is the ninth of the Weird Girls series of connected urban fantasies and is the third of the Flame sub-series with Taran as the lead role.

As the most powerful supes of the world come together to hopefully unite to protect Celia's prophecy child, an insidious betrayal from within causes Taran and everyone she loves to face devastating loss and ultimate defeat with astronomically low chances of survival.

Fortunately, Taran doesn't know when to quit. She's faced down disapproving in laws, her own fears, witch school, and even her own rocky mating. Her whole life has been a fight for survival against the odds and this time it is for her beloved sisters and all she holds dear. She recognizes the evil cloying magic ranged against her and also what gruesome creatures hide in the shadows and rushes at it fire and lightning blazing. But, will she and her friends be enough?

As I pointed out in the summary, through four books and novellas with Taran as the main figure, she has matured and honed herself into a powerful protector and leader in her own right. She has earned the respect of Gemini her mate, the weres, the witches, and even the vamps of the Tahoe area. For all her loud-mouthed snark, she is still the big-hearted, generous protector of her sisters alongside Celia. Now it is Taran's turn as Celia must sit this one out because of her pregnancy. Aric has grown in power as the strongest were, but he is always vulnerable trying to protect Celia. The enemy is someone Taran knows best out of everyone so she takes point and it was exciting to see her show that she has come along way and arrived at the height of her power and strength just in time. She rolls out a few snarky remarks and thinks several more so there is some humor, but mostly Taran means business and is in the mood take out the trash.

This book was nearly non-stop, breathless action sequences. The action is focused around Taran, but it was good to see all the usual characters getting into the act particularly Taran back to back with her sisters. I love when the four sisters are working together the best. So different in skill, ability, and personality, and yet they have always been there together and fighting. Taran has special moments with Gemini that make it obvious they have worked through a lot, but the focus is very much on survival against a hoarde of hideous creatures and a cunning enemy ranged against them.

Of Flame and Fury is wrapping up Taran's part and transitioning into Emme as the next lead in the series. I'm pretty excited about that. Emme has had a tough role in the ongoing story already and those hints of something brewing between her and Bren have me oh so curious about the future for them and the ongoing series conflict is still there to challenge Emme and her sisters, too.

So, all in all, this was one pounding adrenaline rush that left me nearly euphoric at the end. So many intense moments and that climax was well worth the build up. There was always an under layer of emotion so the reader feels the situation right along with the characters. If you're an urban fantasy fan who loves when all the supernaturals get into the act, the characters are full of life, and each book leaves you gasping and flipping pages to the end, but haven't had the chance to start this series, don't hesitate.

My thanks to Caffeinated PR services for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh how I missed this amazing world and these amazing characters that Cecy has created! Another amazing, wild, action packed ride that took off from page one and didn't let up until the end!
I love love how Taran's story ended (even though I know it isn't over yet!). So excited to get Emme's book next and more from all of these characters I have grown to love and care about.
Truly a stand out series that everyone needs to read!!

Taran, her sisters all have one goal, make sure their sister Celia is safe. Of course Celia's mate, Aric also wants to make sure that she and their unborn child is safe. So they attend a social gathering for paranormals in the hopes to all agree to get along but things go from bad to worst when they all get together. Something evil is after Celia and her unborn child and it nearly gets to her before they can save her.

Taran is a fighter and so she doesn't give up even when it looks like the odds are against her. I loved Taran's mate, Gemini and Celia's mate, Aric. They are both two badass paranormals. Aric shows just how powerful he's become, now the most powerful were there is. But Taran also shows how much she's grown and how much power she wield's.

But in fighting all the creatures that are thrown at them they really band together and get the job done. I know I held my breath a few times because I thought something terrible had happened but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was for the most part.

This series had been really good even though I haven't read all of the books so far. But I think that Emme and Bren will have their own book really soon with all the drama between them in this book and I'm looking forward to it.

And then that ending. Wow, and I mean the very ending, that last sentence. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Get comfortable for this non-stop ride. What a way to close out Taran's chapter of this series.

In this final story set from Taran's point of view, all the factions (witches, shifters, vampires and the Wird sisters) are meeting up at the witches new headquarters so they can discuss and pledge alliance to protect Celia and Aric's unborn baby who Destiny declared would save the world from evil. The witches' new headquarters is heavily warded with protection spells which should make it the safest place for everyone to meet.

Problem is someone else has taken the witches' wards and twisted them.  They have turned the mansion from a safe harbor into a house of horrors, complete with monsters out of nightmares, rooms that suddenly have no exits or which exit into another part of the house and also a ward against healing which is leaving the paranormals healing at an almost human rate. With all the monsters gunning for Celia, everyone is literally giving their lives to protect her, but every time Taran tries to take her somewhere safe, they end up dumped out into another horror show.  No matter how many monsters they kill, more keep flooding in.

Defeating the monsters simply isn't working so Taran and her sisters have to find out who is working so hard to kill Celia and her baby and destroy that source, and they have to do it now because they are running out of allies to throw in front Celia.

Make sure you have a few hours to spare before you start this because this story doesn't stop from page 1 all the way to page 282 and you are not going to find a good place to stop.

This was so good and so tension filled especially since this series is a little dark and Cecy has occasionally between pretty brutal to her characters. When an author goes no holds are barred, everyone is at risk.

This is the final story from Taran's point of view, but I don't think that this series is over since there are still some issues left open ended (for those who survive that is) and I'm not ready to walk away from Celia, Taran and their sisters.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Of Flame and Fury is a Weird Girls Novel by Cecy Robson. I have been reading both of these series and love the author's talent in sharing these amazing characters and fast paced action. That being said "Of Flame and Fury" which is Taren's second story - - The battle overshadowed this diverse family of shifters, vamps, and witches. It was just too much of a battle maze and not enough interaction with these amazing individuals. I of course look forward to the next in this series with some cute little offspring being promised. "A copy of this book was provided by author via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Action. Intensity. Flame and Fury. Taran find her viewpoint coming to an end and the intensity of saving the foretold child of salvation from harm. This one gives us more of the characters we have come to love over the entire main series, Weird Girls, and the current Weird Girls Flame.

I was on the fence with all that went on in this one. It was one of unique family, friends, and alliances forged. It was in protection and acceptance of a foretold prophecy. With all that went on I thought that I was missing more of the connections to all those around, but at the same time got lots of the intensity of why everyone was together.

As with most of Cecy Robson's books, this one delivers the characters, the story, the well-crafted world with exceptionally vivid scenes, but I wanted something more. This was Taran's last book on her POV (at least for now). I was wanting something more for her. I do very much look forward to the next installments to the overall Weird Girls series.

I really enjoyed this book! I love the Wird girls and their family/friends. This was an action packed story, the last one in Taran's point of view. I love the humor in the story as well, it breaks up the more emotional parts of the story. I'm really looking forward to more in the series!!

I really loved Cecy’s latest thrill ride. This book is non-stop action. It has a lot of crazy creatures to kill and of course the lovely Wird sisters. It also has the vampires and weres trying to work together. But like all of Cecy’s books, at least for me, it’s a pure joy to read. Can’t wait for the next Weird Girls release. I believe it’s Emme’s turn.

I love Taran! I am sad this is the last book in her series. I am excited to see the next sister get her spotlight!

This takes place right after the last one. Taran is attending the formal gathering of the supernatural elite to unite to protect Celia and her unborn child. This unborn child is prophesized to save the world from uprising evil. So, of course, that evil wants the baby and Celia dead. Taran and her were-lover, Gemini, put plans to protect Celia. However....things quickly change and everyone is in danger.

This certainly did not waste any time getting to the meaty action. We pretty much jumped right into the drama and survival of our characters. Which....I wish we had more downtime before the crap hit the fan. It's been a hot minute since the last book came out so I wanted a refresher of story and characters. You will want to have read the book previously before starting this one.

Other then that small issue, I was hooked. I had NO idea who was going to live or die. This was action-packed and emotion-packed. I was on the edge of my seat.

Love Tara. Love Gemini. I wish we had more time with them. I want to see them grow. They still have some issues, but what relationship is perfect???

That ending made me tear up...but in a good way. So good! I NEED MORE! I want to read more darnit!

That cover is so pretty and awesome. <3

Overall, this series is still so addicting for me. I love our characters. I wish we had more downtime with Taran and Gemini...but the action was juicy and addictive. And what a good ending. I can't wait for the next one. I'll give this 4 stars.

Um, wow! This book is just one huge non-stop action scene from start to finish! I admit to not having read a whole bunch of the previous stories in this world, but was able to join the story without issue. If you don't get on board, you would quickly get swept away by all the madness.

Taran is a magically gifted, mated woman who has an overprotective mate, an unshakable responsibility for her rather important sister, and some questionable control over an arm that is "hers." Her powers are a bit... unpredictable, which leaves you on the edge of your seat in all crazy situations she manages to get herself into. This particularly long night's worth of events centers around a gathering of the most powerful supernaturals in their social circle. Nothing bad could happen during that, right?

We jump from scene to scene, encountering new and unusual bad guys throughout. They are the stuff of nightmares and left me pretty grossed out for most of the book. Taran, for all her failings in the magical arena, is a powerhouse for trudging through an exhausting evening without even a change of clothes. There's a lot of death, destruction, and constant peril, so if you're looking for a relaxing read - this isn't it! It reminded me a lot of what would happen if a Cassandra Palmer novel and a Dresden Files book met, and had a beat up child. That sounds horrible, but the sentiment is there.

Cecy Robson is one of the very few authors who pens shifters that I seriously LOVE, as I don't don't tend to read many of them to be honest since they aren't a preference. So, this fact makes her next level brilliant in my eyes to be honest, as I'm ALL in on the Weird Girls series. This story is Taran's final part in the Flame portion of the program, and she & her sisters are all intent on keeping their powerful sister, Celia safe, as she pregnant, and that baby means more than just family. Arik, Celia's mate, is on the same wavelength they are, but something dangerously evil is after her. They all try to get help, but it's to no avail, and it will take every bit of the groups collective powers to make sure that evil doesn't get to her. And that's all that I'm willing to say about that. Now, since this is paranormal, there were crazy twists & turns throughout while everyone tried to figure out what it was, and how to stop it, which kept me on the edge of my seat. I have LOVED this series, so I hope it keeps going, as I continue to need more desperately! Now, it's your turn to experience the heart pounding goodness for yourselves by one clicking! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

After seeing all of 4-5 star ratings and loving this author and series I was expecting an epic installment in this spinoff. Unfortunately, what I experienced was scene after scene of battles with monsters and very little progress in the overall plot of this series. This really was a “filler” book for me and I had trouble reading it.

One reason for my disappointment is due to the fact that the overall success of these books has been forged through the interactions between the characters and their silly antics. With so many skirmishes with creatures trying to get to Celia very little interacting occurred. I kept waiting on the battle to be over only to face another attack. Honestly, this book just didn’t do it for me. If this trend continues I will have to forgo the spinoff books and just concentrate on the central series and that would be unfortunate.

Oh well, you can’t win them all.

First of all, I would like to thank Cecy Robson, LLC for sending me an ARC of Of Flame and Fury via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. In an extremely lucky coincidence, I actually started reading the Weird Girls series about a week and a half ago, and was about to finish the last book, Of Flame and Fate, when I decided to check to see if there was an ARC for the next book available, and there was. I obviously love the series, as I finished reading the books and the novellas in less than two weeks, so when I requested the title, I was crossing fingers I would get approved.

I'm not ashamed to admit I may have done a mini fan-girl squeal when I got the email approving my request, and the resulting eye roll from my husband.

Let's get to the book! Of Flame and Fury is the ninth book in the Weird Girls series, and is the third book in the Weird Girls: Flame series. It is written from Taran Wird's POV, and is - SOB - the last book of Taran's story. I loved Celia's story, and was weary switching to Taran's, but I loved it! I have no doubt I will love Shayna's and Emme's stories as well. Of Flame and Fury has a much shorter time span covered than previous books. It's not clear, but the whole book is Taran's point-of-view of a multiple days long attack to the Alliance by an unknown, very powerful evil.

Of Flame and Fury is undeniably unique, and original. I have read a few supernatural books in my life, and none of come up with characters quite like Cecy Robson has, or enemies. Especially this one. Let's just say that evil takes a rather weird form this book, and while sometimes the creatures bordered on cheesy, it's actually an element I have grown to like about this series. It adds a touch of humor to a series that could be quite dark at times.

I have read other books, in which authors have attempted to cover a short span of time and write a whole book, and it was disastrous. When I read the description and saw it was going to be covering one attack, I was worried. Cecy Robson did an amazing job making sure that this book was FULL of action the entire time. Whether it was actual fighting, or hilarious moments, and those rare quiet moments Taran has with Gemini, the story never once felt dull.

Taran Wird has grown up quite a bit from the first of the series, and it shows in this book. She used to be the one who would be the first to say "Fuck it," and run away from a fight, and now she is the first to run into it, and do what's right, no matter how hard it is. She doesn't let her past affect her anymore, and chooses to live her life the best way she can. Her relationship with Gemini is stronger than ever, and I love the
private moments that we get with them this book. And of course, the moments where Taran totally exasperates him. It's one of things I love the most about them. They are total opposites, but it works so damn well for them.

If you love the Weird Girls series, you will ABSOLUTELY love this book. It has the classic Weird girls action, humor, romance, sex, and emotionally charged content we have been gotten in the past. We even get a rare moment where it's just the four sisters, and I don't think I realized how much I missed them together that way until I read it. Of Flame and Fury tied up some lingering plot lines, and left others open for future books, but most of all, ends Taran's story beautifully. Go buy it! March 24th, 2020! If you haven't read the Weird Girls series yet, do it! It won't disappoint.

I'm SO done with this series at this point. Literally nothing even happened here except fighting. I'm not saying, I do like action, but imo every good book also needs to be balanced with both plot and action. This had basically just 1 % of a plot.

Also, please tell me I'm wrong and that ending did not give way to Emme's books. I want to be free!

I have been reading about the Wird sisters (The Weird Girls series) since 2012, every book now is like returning home to see old friends. The Weird Girls series had six books in them, followed by this Flame series a spin off with Taran the loud, vocal, no holds barred sister. This book marks the end of Taran and Gemini’s spin-off. I have been reading about the Wird sisters (The Weird Girls series) since 2012, every book now is like returning home to see old friends. I suggest reading them in order, and since this is the last book in the Flames spin-off there may be spoilers from the previous books.

Celia and Aric cannot catch a break, after all they have been through you would expect at least for them to get their happily ever after and a rocking chair on the front porch. No such luck, their child has been prophesied to bring about peace to the supernatural world and well there are some supes out there that really don’t want that. So there is a supernatural of summit of sorts to find allies to help protect her. Every precaution was taken to protect her, yet evil still attacks the manor. Fate deals them a heavy hand, the creatures they have to fight are well inventive to say the least. Destiny tries to intervene but Fate’s touch may just be the end for them. Will Taran be able to protect the rock of the Wird household or will the sisters fall one by one?

I absolutely love Taran! She was my favorite sister in the original series and so when she got her own spin-off I knew I was along for a fabulous fun filled ride. Throw her spunky, spirited, snarky sailor mouth in and I am there, all day every day. I want her to be one of my best friends and here is why. Over the last nine books you see character development like no other. Not only that, she still retains the elements that made her unique from the beginning. Taran has always been a powerhouse, yet sometimes fear or the opinions of others would prevent her from showing off her kick-butt self. No more! All she needed was her sister to be in danger and the girl comes in with the gloves off, swinging. In this book she is gusty, aggressive and determined to save her sister and her unborn nephew. To top this book sundae off, Gemini, her love interest since the beginning is absolutely the cherry!

Gemini has dealt with Taran’s sweet side, and her nutty side but dang her protective side has not come out like this before now. Instead of holding our girl back, Gemini supports her totally, 100%. Which is well hellva refreshing. Yes, he tells her to be careful then he kisses her and gets back into the fight. The fight last the ENTIRE book! How freaking awesome is that, he doesn’t doubt her once. Not once, which is really hard for an alpha male with his mate. His love, faith and pride in her shines through everything he does. The fact that he understands her and embraces all aspects of her personality makes him the perfect mate for her.

The Wird sisters are squad goals. Seriously, the mixture of personalities, talents and abilities shine through their love for one another. Jealously never ever colors their relationships with each other. Always together, always supporting and fighting for each other. When I say there is a mixture of personalities I mean it. While I love the action, the suspense and the romance: it is the sister’s love for each other that made this entire series for me. That love shines through in all that they do in this book.

OH MY GOODNESS! This one starts off with a bang and the hits just keep on coming all the way to the end. If you want an action-packed roller coaster of a ride, with a little dose of romance and tension mixed in then you need to read this. Adrenaline pumping, nerve wrecking, screaming at the book sprinkled with awe moments sealed the deal, this is still one of my favorite series! Where we will go from here only Cecy Robson knows but I am straight up praying that we find out what is going on between Bren and Emme because something is sure enough going on between them.

My Rating 5 out of 5 stars

In Cecy Robson’s Of Flame and Fury we bring an end to Taran’s chapter, yet the story is far from over. Seriously, this has been one of my favorite series since it started and I am so glade Cecy is continuing this story arc through Celia’s sisters. It’s an intense and heart-pounding thrill ride and I cannot wait to read more!

It all starts out so simple. Gather together and figure out a way to protect Celia and her unborn baby from the evil that wants to kill them. Except just as the gathering is getting underway, the you-know-what hits the fan! Genevieve’s mansion, where they were all gathering, is attacked by magic and all hell breaks loose. Everyone is being attacked by monstrous creatures that are not quite one thing and they are nearly impossible to kill.

Things got crazy insanely fast in this one. It was almost hard to keep up, especially when it all starts out with twisted hallways and disappearing guests and wondering if said guests are actually themselves. It was one wild ride and with Taran at the helm, you know you’re in for a riot!

Taran is determined to keep her sister, Celia and her niece or nephew safe. Celia’s child is prophesied to save the supernatural world and possibly the human world too. But when all the sickening monsters are gunning for her, Taran isn’t going to be able to pull any punches, not that she ever does anyway.

As with the previous book, to my muddy recollection, we get hints of something happening between Emme and Bren, which once that started going I was dying to know more! Luckily, it’s been confirmed, Emme is up next! Not only do we get to learn more about the bond that’s between them, but there’s a deeper history between Emme and Bren that stretches way back and I am positively giddy to know more! Being the younger sister myself, I felt like I could relate to Emme and her position from time to time.

Back onto Taran’s story, her journey towards growth and developing her magic continues. Though her first and foremost thought is to always protect her sisters. There were times of happiness and romance between her and Gemini, but I felt like this time, those times were few and farther between than they were in the past novels, but for good reason. I mean, there’s hardly ever a quiet moment in this one what with all the running for their lives and trying to defeat hordes of evil.

The ending was superb! Since we know the world series is continuing on, this one puts us at a nice pause and fills it up with shocking developments. Taran has reached a sort of peaceful happy moment with Gemini in this one, but there’s still bound to be danger and chaos for this family. Now it will be the youngest Wird sister’s turn to be the hero of her own story and I am looking forward to it!

Of Flame and Fury was one wild ride filled with creatures of every nightmare ever. It’s a read filled with spunk and sass that’s 100% Taran and continues to show the unbreakable bond of sisters and family.

I had the WORST time reading this. I love the Weird Girl series to death and was excited for spin offs. The first two books for Taran gave me everything I wanted but this one fell way short for me. The first two books focused on Taran and Gemini but this one was highly focused on Celia. I understand that the end game is based on Celia and Aric's child but this is supposed to focus on Taran.

Last I checked Taran was trying to work on her relationship with Gemini and all of a sudden things are great in this book? A book that was written for a night's length ending in them getting married? Nope, didn't buy it one bit not when it opened to Taran pissed that Genevieve "called" Gemini while they were getting their sexy on.

In typical Cecy fashion, the action and gore was in this book but it felt overdone to me. I understand the house is "possessed" by Johnny so every turn they make ends with body parts in their faces but some descriptions didn't work for me. Boobs dragging on the floor off of a weird creature? Mmmm no.

I do love that Shayna and Emme were more involved but with this being highly Celia based, it annoyed me that Taran had to keep justifying her actions to mean everything she was doing was for Celia; That she is her responsibility and Taran will end her life if it means Celia is alive. This is supposed to be her and Gem growing together and finding out how they fit together in this world thats always against them.

I just think this wasn't at all about Taran. It is about what Taran can do with her powers, that she can't even control, to prove to others that she is better than they believe. This was just action overload book filling nonsense.

May be harsh but this is how I feel about it. Super disappointed.

All the supernatural comes together to come to an agreement in protecting Celia and the baby she is having with Aric. Taran is a brassy, sassy powerhouse. The whole gang is there and has a long and difficult night ahead of them. Not that we spend a lot of time with any of them. This book is about Taran, her relationship with her sisters and Gemini, and the changes that are coming. There is a really weird scene with Emme and Bren, almost uncomfortable. Johnny Fate is in the mix and the world gets twisted. It is action-packed, and crazy creatures, lots of blood and guts.

2.5 stars. It took me a long time to finish this book. The whole thing takes place in one house, and was full of so much constant fighting and violence that I kept getting bored. There wasn’t much in terms of actual plot, so it got dull quickly. And so many paranormals died that it seems like there’s probably only about 20 of them left in the whole country. If this had been a shorter book with fewer chapters of constant fighting, it would have been better. I only kept reading because up til now I really enjoyed the series, and want to find out what happens to Emme and the others in the next books. Otherwise this would most likely have been a DNF.

I love the Wird sisters and their world and was greatly looking forward to this book. I missed the relationships and interactions between all of the characters that are the usual and kept hoping to get back to that. There were a few moments, but it's mostly a super long battle. I'm still looking forward to the next book in the series and am really hoping it is more in line with the past books. I really missed the characters and their relationships

Amazing and tense journey on every page!

No one tells a tale of love and strength like Cecy Robson. From the first few pages, an intense journey ensues. Traveling this path with the spit-fire, Taran, and her amazing sisters leads the reader with them on their physical and emotional roller coaster. An adventure for all who have the stamina to survive is waiting within these pages. Well done Cecy!!

Do NOT start this book after supper thinking you will be able to put in down at bedtime, nope, not going to happen. Even though I was sleep deprived and tired when finished, there was no way I wanted to be finished with these characters or their world.

The writing was superb, the editing great and the story line blew me away. In this series, each book is a stand alone...but...they play so much into the overall story line that each adds another dimension.

This entire series is a keeper.

I LOVE THESE SISTERS! This is the third story and the ninth overall in the series. I cant stop reading! I couldn’t stop laughing and cheering on the gang while reading. Cecy Robson does an amazing join with imagery. There were quiet a few scenes that made my skin crawl and give me goosebumps. Love a kick butt female lead, and a total book boyfriend hero. Gemini and Taran are my fav couple so far.
