Darkest Hour continues the stories of Bex and Ketty from the previous two titles in the series Battle Ground and False Flag. In this book, Bex and her friends have been taken in by a resistance cell are are hiding out above a shop and Newcastle. They are constantly on the alert and learning to drive in case they need to make a quick getaway. But the stresses of being constantly on the run,the confines of their hiding place and decisions that have been made in the past are starting to cause tensi

Great continuation of the series. This book follows both Ketty and Bex, the main characters from book 1 and 2 in the series. It picks up the action after the characters last met and the tension keeps rising from there, following both characters as they navigate an increasingly complicated and morally confused future.
If you enjoy reading dystopian SF, this series is one of the best I've read since Divergent. And it keeps getting better!

First things first: I adore this series. It absolutely angers me sometimes, but I love it.

Darkest Hour is book three, so if you haven't read the first two, get on that ASAP. Trust me. You'll want to read them because they're awesome.

In this one, Bex and her friends are in hiding, considered refuges, and have to do whatever it takes to stay safe. Ketty and Bracken, on the other hand, are working with Brigadier Lee and the other nefarious government people to try and bring

With the first two books in this series, Churcher told the same series of events from the points of view of the antagonists. Our hero Bex got the first book and her nemesis Ketty got the second. Now we get the continuation of the story with each taking charge of alternating chapters. The tension is greater (and it wasn't low in the first two books) and the motivations more interesting. Ketty isn't any more likable than she was in the earlier books, but she's becoming a much deeper character. And ...more

I just can’t get enough of this series; there’s so many levels to the story & it’s scary how easy it is to see this as a possible future. I love that Rachel Churcher can make me feel sorry for a character that I should hate & how much she makes me think about what I’m reading. I’m so eager for book four, but can’t believe it ends with book five.

⚠ Violence, guns, discussions of terrorist behaviour, violent interrogation, death of a parent, abuse toward a wheelchair user & alcoholism

Darkest Hour is the 3rd instalment of the Battle Ground series and in a turn from the previous 2 books, gives us the point of view of both Bex and Ketty in the same book. I do really enjoy multiple POV books and the alternating chapters are a real favourite which meant I enjoyed this immensely. Time has moved on a little and whilst Bex and her fellow recruits have made their way to the North East of England, Ketty and Bracken have managed to secure themselves a London posting. This helps to driv ...more

Darkest Hour is the 3rd book I have read in the Battleground series. The first book was mainly about Bex, the 2nd about Ketty and the 3rd book joins them both together again. Now, these two young girls are not friends, Ketty was a trainer at the Recruit Training Service, a government-run organisation. Bex was a recruit until she decided to turn to the rebels' side.

The series is set in the UK and is set in the future after Brexit and Scottish Independence. Britain has isolated itself
