Prepare yourself for a swoon-worthy Brit Romance that will melt your heart.

Sam Huxton is having a bad day. She usually has her life together, but her beloved Grumps (grandfather) just passed and she needs a distraction.

Shes sitting in a pub drinking away her sorrows when she spots a ridiculously hot yet absurdly grumpy guy. Hes the brooding type, with a crooked nose, scruffy beard, and bad-boy leather jacket.

Despite their very different personalities they just have chemistry, so they agree to a
Well this book was sunshine on a cloudy day! The perfect escape from all the coronavirus news, social distancing, safer at home orders, and the politics. Kathryn Freeman has written a delightful story that made me swoon and smile. Once upon a time Sam and Ryan meet at a bar. Both of them have had a little too much to drink, both of them are a little lonely, and both of them are certain that they will never meet again. There is a definite attraction, but there nothing alike, so one night of great ...more

This is the first read for me by this author. And judging by the blurb I was really excited to read it.
I don't mind workplace romance and as many romance readers, I too am still looking for my next Hating Game fix.

In this novel, we get all the good ingredients like a broody hero and an optimistic heroine. They have a one night stand together and lo and behold who walks tomorrow morning into our heroine Sam office...yeah you guessed it, our hero Ryan. And then many things happened. Many! I

Sam is grieving for her granda who recently passed away. On her way back from the funeral she stops at a pub to drink her grief away and meets Ryan. They have a one night stand. The next morning when Sam goes to work at the company she founded she finds out that Ryan is the new guy that had been hired as a software developer. Despite Ryan being a sour puss most of the time they fall in love and Sam is able to pierce his tough-guy armor. I grew to like Ryan too by the end of the book. Sam was ...more

This was a cute and entertaining story with a PG-13 level of steam.

Sam runs a small tech company and has a one night stand with a guy she meets in a bar. Of course, the next day she realizes he's Ryan, her new employee. Awkward!

What I liked:
--It was nice to see the woman have more financial power in the relationship

--This had a fun Silicon Valley (the show) sort of vibe - if you watch the show, you'll know that a rival developer is always lurking around with a better app. The lurker was also

The New Guy was pretty cute. I didn't think I needed something like this until I dove into it. Doesn't help that all I've seen are rainy days and I'm forever cooped up in a house.

In it, you will meet Sam and Ryan. They just happen to meet a bar one day and of course things get frisky fast. Both think that it's going to be a one night stand but man.. they were both wrong. They were honestly cute and everything throughout

The new guy is about Sam, the young, smart and bubbly female CEO of a tech business and Ryan, the new hire who just happened to have an unknown one night stand with his boss before he starts work.
I have struggled on what to rate this as I did enjoy it but there seemed to be alot of repetition and at some points I just wanted to shake Sam and tell her to wake up. Ryan and a colleague called Lucas were my

There she meets someone who is reluctant to talk to her but they still hit it off and go to her home for what they assume will be a one night stand. [Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
This has been quite a surprise! A good one.
It's a funny and feel-good reading, perfect for the Holidays and when you need a chick-lit book with a great main couple and a lovely love story. It's full of cliches but they're well developed, it's not plain and you're not reading with the constant feeling of "I think I've read this before" that you sometimes

In many ways The New Guy is just the next romance novel but that doesnt mean I didnt enjoy it. In fact, I had a great time reading this book, it being the kind of read you start and finish in one go. Theres an interesting set-up, good chemistry, a fast pacing and a likable set of characters. So if youre in the mood for something light and easy, I definitely recommend.

The New Guy is a throughly enjoyable romantic read, from its wonderful opening where Sam CEO of a tech company meets a stranger in a bar, no name no phone numbers but they have a one night stand...sounds tacky, far from it, it was described perfectly.
The next day Sam meets her new employee Ryan who is joining the company to write the code for a new app that is essential companys future, he also just happens to be the man from the night before. Both struggle with this history, particularly Ryan

What would you do if you met a hot man at a bar, took him home for a steamy one night stand without giving out any names or numbers and then the next day he walks into your office as your new employee? Well thats exactly what happens to Sam. Stunned to find out her one night stand is her new app programmer Ryan Black, Sam makes it perfectly clear their one night stand is not going to turn into a reoccurrence. But as days turn into weeks Sam starts to realize Ryan isnt the arrogant, unlikeable ...more

Unfortunately, I really didn't like this book and I don't like to put down books in general because I know how much hard work and time goes into creating them.

I did like the cover design.

The story however is a boss dating employee with gender reversal. The boss being female and the guy being the newly hired employee on a trial period. Oh boy! Ryan was just awful to read, every other book when the guy is the boss the woman doesn't

Quite honestly, this cover doesn't do this book justice; this kind of cutesy cover planted a conceptional image that it was going to be a fluffy romantic comedy sort of story on my mind, but I couldn't have been more wrong. There was much more meat and depth in this book. This cover completely betrayed my assumption in a positive way. I enjoyed this book.

Nonetheless, it was quite a long, meandering journey. Almost like an uphill battle till I made it to the top, a.k.a. happy ending. With 400

4☆ A Light hearted, Entertaining, Witty, Contemporary Romance

The New Guy is a light hearted Contemporary romance that's Fun, Witty, with cheeky banter.

Sam had just laid her grandad to rest and is drowning her grief in champagne.
When a brooding stranger finds himself next to Sam at the bar.

After a skin full of alcohol and plenty of sexual chemistry the two fall into bed. A one night stand that is sure to bite them both in the bum!

You see unbeknown to them both, they are about to get a huge shock

Ever had a one night stand where no names were exchanged, only to come into work the next day, to discover the new guy, the one you didn't interview despite being the boss, due to a family emergency, is in fact the one you slept with the night before?

Honestly having seen how Sam and Ryan react in that exact situation, I'm very glad it hasn't happened to me!

Written with Kathryn Freeman's usual amounts of sexual chemistry, banter, amusing dialogue and just generally people that feel realistic, it

Sam is having one of the worst days. After her grandfathers passing, she goes into a bar and begins to drink. Then she comes across a rather handsome but unfriendly man, Ryan. She had never entertained the idea of a fling, until that moment.

Unfortunately for Sam, the very next day that same man shows up at the company she runs, as a new employee and the fun begins. In the mix of the awkward situation they find themselves in, there are office and family dramas and a few twists.

Sam is a CEO and has had a tough time recently, all topped off by the death of her grandfather. Ryan has his own problems. Both of them are drowning their sorrows at a bar and end up having a one night stand and therefore, not exchanging names or intending to see each other again... until Ryan turns up for his new job the next day, at Sams company!

This was a little difficult to get into in the beginning because Sam was dealing with a loss similar to what I was, and it made me sad to think about. But after the first scene I got really into, and couldn't put it down! The characters were fun and flirty, but also individuals with story lines and character building outside of the romance. I love a romance book where the leads have their own thing too. I especially love that the female CEO wasn't just your typical power tripping CEO except ...more

Thank you first of all to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

Theres no easy way to say this but I didnt enjoy this book. Dont get me wrong it was good but the story line wasnt anything catching to me. Id set the book down and sometimes I would just move on to another book. It did remind me of Grey's Anatomy, you know Meredith and Derek sleep together Meredith starts her new job and it turns out the person she just slept with was her boss. 🤷♀

This book was good, and in ways I don't expect. I did not like Ryan for a bit there. He definitely had a real prickly exterior and was not afraid to show that. As Sam was falling for him... I was too a little. Sam is such a happy upbeat person and they could not be any more different...yet they work! Opposites really do attract. They had chemistry for sure, but once Sunshine Sam broke through the brooding grump that is Ryan, you could see his soft gooey center.
One thing that I really loved

The New Guy is another romance novel with the usual ingredients and expected plot. That said, I did still enjoy it. Though it was predictable, it was an easy read with an interesting premise. So if you want to read something without too much thought and effort, then this is the easy read for you.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book! Ill be honest and say sometimes Im a harsh critic when it comes to chick lit, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The characters are likable and believable, and I really liked the fact that the main character was a savvy business woman running her own tech startup. The fact that she didnt need a man to do that was pretty great! The writing was good; enough detail to be engaging but not so much to lose ...more

This one is both sweet and series, and about a lot more than an office romance. The trope is forced proximity between a high-powered female boss and a grumpy/nerdy hero. This is an endearing read and about overcoming insecurities.

Blurb: Sam and Ryan have a one night stand without even knowing each others names. So when Ryan walks through the door of his new job, low and behold, there stands Sam, his new boss. The two have to learn to navigate a working relationship and decide if they can forget

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.  The New Guy by Kathryn Freeman is the first book of the Romcom Collection series. In a completely out of character moment, Sam Huxton met a hot guy in her local pub and brought him home for a meant to be anonymous one night stand. Unfortunately for her, he turns out to be her newest employee, the software developer who is going to save her company from disaster. Distrustful and suspicious from a previous ...more

Sam is grieving the loss of her beloved "Grumps" and decides to drown her sorrows in the pub. Ryan has moved to London to start a new job at a software company. Gave up 20% in. The first couple chapters set up the story great. One night stand without sharing names only, start a new job the next morning, and then find out the woman you slept with is the boss. I liked the sound of it and I liked the set up. It was a nice turn around to have a female boss. The love scene amps you up only to fade to black (and apparently that's a trend according to other reviews). There's inappropriate banter between Ryan and Sam on the first day, especially if you're
