I was amazed by the New York Public Library's collection. I felt like I was touring the Smithsonian. In addition to the expected literary items there were such exhibits early cuneiform cylinders and the Declaration of Independence. Great photography and wonderful content. Recommend. Lots of nice glossy photos of the collection!

Excellent book. Lots of eclectic items in this collection- from the author of Mary Poppins bird handle umbrella to passages from Charlotte Bronte and early illustrations of Alice in Wonderland. Particularly poignant was a slave receipt. A single name on a preprinted (mass produced) piece of paper.
