Israel: Past and Present

Rate this book
Beginning with a brief history of the region, Past and Present features overlays of Jerusalem throughout the ages, important religious sites such as the Western Wall and the Church at Kursi, and famed archaeological ruins like Masada and Caesarea. Works of art found at the sites, such
as mosaics, frescoes and sculpture, are explored to learn about the use of these ancient locales and the lives of the people who inhabited them.

One day there'll be a much better version of this book.
This one has all of the flaws you'd expect from a book with this title.
The overlays are as fun here as they are for similar volumes but the history can use a serious update with the most recent scholarship and archaeology.
And of course, there's the selection of locations and the project behind this book that, well...I'll say it again: one day there'll be a much better version of this book. It'll come with a veil of tears and sorrow but it will be more honest and comprehensive.
