This book was different, which I generally like but I had a hard time with this book. This a smorgasbord of different mythologies and stories - God, Lucifer, Heaven, Hell, Angels, Demons, Fallen Angels, Greek Gods, Vampires, Werewolves, Soul mates, and King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table - that combine to give the background and origins of characters with a setting after a zombie apocalypse. While that sounds like a fun, if not interesting mix, at times it becomes overwhelming and ...more

I was generously provided an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

"You know, we came from stardust, so that's entirely expected that we would return to the stars when we die."

Summary:
Okay, so this book follows the crazy life of Jane and many other (hilarious) supernatural beings. At the beginning of the story we get introduced to Jane and her family and there are MAJOR 'The Walking Dead' vibes and I loved that. I thought that was pretty dramatic, but then all of a sudden we are introduced to

Promising story but just not there

I hate the whole love triangle plot. Disappointed with the main character as well, I get she has a troubled background but sheesh how can you expect people to believe her as a hero when she is so whiny and lacks all confidence in herself. I hate how she breaks David's heart. Won't be reading the next installment.

No rating because I DNF
This story would have some readers inspired and enthralled .... I was uncomfortable ... I think because the MC displays as hAving DID and certain member of the “harem” is using mind manipulation whenever with zero remorse and the MC acts like a child and harem member is I guess ... daddy.
This may work for some people didn’t for me.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. This is my first review here so I have no idea what to say, really, that may be one of the reasons why I took so long to write it.

I meet Janie's books because of Wattpad and although I hadn't read the first version (first draft) of this books that was they I had it on my 'to-read' list. Once I start reading it I couldn't stop and was very excited while patiently waiting for the next chapter.
When I received the ARC

You see, there are such things as GOOD trashy romance novels, and then there’s THIS.

What the fuck was this?

I have no idea. None.

Not really sure I can review it because like...it was so bad.

The writing hurt me, like it was so cringy that I physically HURT. Jane literally called herself a hoe. She called avatar an anime (I should have just quit there), and she literally called her mom “mommy” EW. There was even a moment where she saw David’s...ya know, and he literally said “don’t worry, I’ll

I enjoyed it

I enjoyed this book but found myself getting frustrated by Jane's back and forth between her loyalty to Jason, a man that had treated her badly, to Death, who I'm still unclear on why she's so in love with him. Then there is David, her soulmate, who she is so cold towards most of the time because she feels that to show her feelings to him would be betraying Jason and Death. She only shows affection to David as he is dying. She make victims of abuse look pathetic. If she acts like a

About a couple of years ago I stumbled upon a book on Wattpad. I had seen it a couple of times in my suggestions on what books to read. After debating on if I should read it or not I clicked on it deciding to at least read the description. I was hooked. I read the first chapter and that was it for me. There was no turning back, i spent hours reading WAOTBBW. Freaking hours! I literally chose a book over sleep. At the end of almost every chapter I’d read the authors notes and see Janie Marie talk ...more

I am extremely grateful and lucky to have received an ARC edition of G&M. I began reading this the first installment off of Wattpad in its earlier stages and I absolutely fell in love. To watch this book unfold and progress over time was a privilege and I am so happy I found this author.

G&M is a paranormal/epic/romance and it will toy with your emotions in the best way possible. It is such a unique story, unlike one I have ever read before. Once you pick it up, it is almost impossible

As an ARC reader, as well as many others, I have given the opportunity to read the book before it was open to the public and I can definitely say that all you readers are in for a treat!
As a Wattpad user, I have read the original piece that only those website fans of God's & Monsters could read. So to re-read the book in a new and improved version was definitely an exciting moment as I am a fan of Janie's other works, too, on Wattpad.
The book is written so well, that I just couldn't put it

So let's talk about this first installment in the God's and Monsters trilogy. The book follows primarily Jane, David and "Death" aka Ryder and the fight against evil basically, just in this case our heroes are things from Myths quite literally - "They were called legends, heroes, Gods. Beautiful, strong and brave beings that traveled the

If you want to dive into a fantasy world where the main character is an unimaginably strong woman who, despite all that has happened in her life, continues to keep going. Where there are multiple sexy men, a ton of plot twists, and where myths, legends and the paranormal world intertwine - then this is definitely a book that you want to read. The author, Janie Marie, has an amazing talent when it comes to combining love, comedy, action, drama, myths, lore, the paranormal world, and sexy men - ...more

Brilliant. A book for the open minded, though.

Gods and Monsters was a book I read in a difficult time for me. Janie Marie, the author, created a very unique parallel world. This book is not for everyone, but I think everyone should give it a chance. In all honesty I was very hesitant to start the trilogy, but I am ecstatic that I did. This first installment of the trilogy leaves you with so many unanswered questions, yet is a MUST read. Jane, the main character, is one I can relate to on a deep

Skimmed to the end, couldn’t take the story anymore. Sorry, this was a freebie from the author, but I just got so sick of the MC and her three romantic interests and her PTSD and her guilt. Too much. Everyone loves her, she wants to sleep with all of them, they are fighting a war, but that gets little attention.

Gods & Monsters is an absolutely captivating and heartfelt fiction novel. It is the first book in a long time that I have truly had the pleasure to come across. The author Janie Marie is able to bring legends to life and is able to write the novel in such a thorough manner that I can experience the story on a whole new level. I feel as if the author wrote the story in such a way that when a reader is reading, they are not only glimpsing the words on a page, but receiving the opportunity to ...more

This trilogy is absolutely outstanding. Very well written and edited. I was totally engrossed by the unique take on myths and legends. This book has to be my book of 2017. Roll on 2018 for the next release. Brilliant.

Gods & Monsters... I wasn't all that eager to read it when I saw it on Wattpad first. I decided to read another book "Who's Afraid of The Big Bad Wolf" another one of Janie Marie's books. But once actually winning the book and reading it. Well it was one of the best decisions.

I loved the characters. David, Jane, Death, Gawain, Dagonet and those are only a few of them. Those, though, are my favourites as well as them having amazing personalities.

Jane is defiantly not your typical heroine,

Amazing book. I never read because everything I looked at or tried reading never interested me. The last book I ever read by my own choosing was the " Magic treehouse" series in kindergarten. Everything else I had to read or forced to read (between school, work, and military). My friend pointed this book out to me and just by the title it peaked my interest. So I started reading the book " God's & Monster" by Janie Marie. The way she describes everything and every character makes me feel ...more

Excellent

There wasn't anything to dislike about this book. I had a hard time putting it down. It was like watching a movie as I read. I cannot wait for book 2. Anyone who like paranormal/supernatural stories should read this.

Recommends it for: Everyone!
I've been amongst the few lucky ones that got an ARC copy as well as having helped out as a beta reader.
Over the course of the last year I've read this books about 5 times and with each time and each edit I've seen it get better and better. I'm not very good at writing reviews, but here goes...

The first time I saw this book on wattpad I didn't think much of it, I added it to my library cause it sounded interesting enough, but I didn't start reading it until a few weeks after. (during those few

Gods & Monsters is one of the only books that has been able to hold my attention in years. The characters Janie Marie has created are relatable while still holding an air of fantasy. The story has twists and turns you would never expect. The way Janie Marie treats mental health issues is inspiring as well as refreshing to see in a novel. Overall, Gods & Monsters has restored my love of reading and I cannot wait for the next book to be released!

I was lucky and honored to receive an ARC edition of G&M. I first read Gods and Monsters on Wattpad. It was the first and only book I commented on. To say it's amazing is to little, no words can do it justice but I'll try. Janie has a way of making you feel like your there, living and feeling everything. I went through every emotion, it was a roller coaster of emotions!!!!!! I cried, laughed, got angry. There's a little bit of Jane in every one of us maybe that's why we feel so much reading ...more

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Thankfully, it is not hard to be honest about how fantastic this book is. When I first saw the summary, I was worried it would be the same as every other vampire or post-apocalyptic novel on the shelves these days, but was extremely delighted when I realized that Gods and Monsters is its own unique and fantastic story.

Marie sets her work apart in two ways. One, her use of different mythologies. Throughout this book

Today I finished my ARC. Usually I am a silent reader and I finish a book in 1-2 days, but with Janie Marie's book I was afraid to read it too fast.

G&M is a book that catches you. It includes you. It makes you feel and especially makes you live .
No matter whether you find yourself in Jane's feelings or not, you live them anyway. It is a roller coaster of feelings and there are moments that makes you go through all the possible emotions in 5 minutes.

Even though the action takes place in an

This book is truly something different. I first read it on Wattpad a while ago, when the entire series was up for people to read. At the time, I had it saved in my library because I wasn't sure if it was a book I would enjoy—I wasn't one to be about zombie apocalypses or anything of that sort, so it threw me off. BUT. I finally opened it and read it all. Crazy emotional. Several times I wanted to throw my phone against the wall for what I was reading; however, that's what makes the series so ...more

Janie Marie is a wife and mother of three. She devotes her time to her family and her characters. She enjoys entertaining her readers by giving them glimpses of their favorite characters outside of the worlds she brought them to life in.

Her wish is simply that readers who manage to make it to the end of her stories take something away, and they keep it with them always.
