Overall, I would say I liked this book. It can be read as a stand alone book, but I do feel like I missed some background having not read the first one. Not enough, though, that it made this book completely confusing. I did expect more ties to the nativity story from the Bible based on the fact that it states it's part of the Timeless Nativity series. I think that was actually more of the focus of the first book, which I haven't read. Overall, I felt somewhat connected to the story, but I wasn't ...more

This book started out for me about the way the last one ended--with a bit of TMI as far as breastfeeding and periods and birth control that made me unsure whether I would be able to finish. Thankfully, that tapered off after the first couple of chapters, and we settled down for a story that was better than I expected, although it was rather hard for me to see the connection to the Christmas story.

If you love Hallmark movies, you need to read this book! I haven't read the first in the series (but will be adding it to my list!) and felt like this could be read as a standalone book. There were just enough details pulled forward so you didn't feel that you were missing chunks of the story. This book follows new parents - Joe and Marian - as they navigate teen aged, married life and the challenges of living on one small income. They find themselves struggling as the holidays approach.
