As someone who is facing seventy in just a few years, it was so encouraging to see that we do not have to be defined by our age. We can and should continue to dream, make plans and see those dreams realized.
This book follows Barth’s first one, “The Unfaithful Widow”, written about the first year following her husband’s death when she was sixty.
Written in short, engaging vignettes, many drawn from her blog posts over the years, covers the ten years following her husband’s death. She calls this

The Review

A truly well written, honest and fascinating read, author Barbara Barth has created a fantastic novel that openly and honestly explores life after losing a spouse or loved one, while also exploring the journey to redefine or find your true self in this world.

While I haven’t read the first book that this novel is a sequel of, the authors straight forward, truthful and eye-catching way of writing will instantly draw readers in, and the following chapters will keep readers engaged as the

This delightful memoir is an inspirational story of a woman who shares her life the ten years after her beloved husband passes. Through humor and honest feelings, Barbara Barth, a creative and free spirit, shares her ups and downs of learning to be single as an older lady. Refusing to accept the aging process and some physical health problems she must endure, she lets her heart and her passion for life “move her headfirst into a new life” (to quote Barbara) and take risks most people would never ...more

Having not read the first one, I got through this one just fine but I really wish I had read the first one. I am going to go back and read that one because I really enjoyed her writing style and humor. She would be a fun coffee date, I'm sure!

It's written like you are reading her personal journal, not as a dry memoir you get bored of half way through. Each section is relatively short with even shorter entries that you will easily read through and realize you just read through half of the book

This book immediately caught my heart and attention. Barbara has such a way with words and drawing you into the moments of her life. The words "free spirit" comes to mind as I read her memoir. What inspired me after reading this book was how much Barbara wanted to help others, meet people, and bring everyone together. Reading this book made me feel like we were sitting down to coffee together and she was sharing her experiences with me. Barbara reminded me that we're never too old to follow a ...more

Author, blogger, sometimes antique dealer, jewelry designer, and dog whisperer. My life took an about face in 2008 with the death of my husband. It turned me into a writer and dog hoarder. I love a little drama, but I want to find the positive side to everything that happens to me. Capturing that in my writing is essential. If I go a little to the dark side, I want to sprinkle it with glitter and ...more
