Scary!

This is the first book in the series. I have previously reviewed it, but somehow it got lost.

The first story is about a young woman who is supposedly someone that does an internet gaming show, or something. I guess she goes on line and interact with people. I’m not sure what she does.

This is something that I know nothing about, and I find it confusing. Anyway, she is stalked on-line by this man, she complains about it, then he decides...if he is not going to be allowed to stalk her, then he’s just going to have to…

The next story is about a priest who discovers an old fashioned camping trailer in his church parking lot. When he checks it out, all he finds inside are two weird, but hungry little children.

The final story is about a wealthy widow who confesses to the police that she has become a thief, after she steals something that may be more than what she bargained.

This collection of horror short stories was so much fun to listen to! I received the audio book for free from the authors. I wasn't sure quite what to expect...but before I was more than 5 minutes into the first story, I realized this collection was going to be perfect! I listened to all 3 stories while driving to work and home again today. And I enjoyed each story! Sometimes with story collections I like some of the tales, but not all of them. I was pleasantly surprised by all 3 stories in this first volume of Short Horror Stories. The tales are varied, sufficiently long to be interesting but short enough to make this an easy listening length.

Just some basics on the stories -- A young girl whose Let's-Play videos online have made her an internet sensation has an unfortunate altercation with a stalker. A priest discovers that not everyone is what they seem. And, a wealthy widow with sticky fingers and little conscience gets what she deserves. My favorite? I can't really choose -- I enjoyed all 3!

There are 19 books in the Short Horror Stories (Supernatural Suspense Collction) series. I can't wait to listen to more in this collection! Perfect companion creepy tales for my daily commute!

I listened to the audio book version of these tales. Narrated by Thom Bowers, the audio is just over 1.5 hours long. Bowers gives a great performance! Very enjoyable listening experience! And the cover art is just fantastic!!

**I received a free copy of this audio book from the authors. This review is voluntary, and the free book had no bearing on my opinion. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.**

A trio of horror shorts to delight the discerning horror aficionado, featuring implacable and inescapable horror in differing, seemingly practical and everyday venues. The first story, my favorite, has some resonances of "Ring" and a "gift" that keeps on giving, but also some poetic justice. In the second, a compassionate Catholic priest unfortunately encounters horror beyond his worldview (no poetic justice here). In the third offering (delightfully tongue in cheek), a very wealthy and self-centered widow encounters the long arm of poetic justice.

Short yes, horror no. They had their moments, were well written, but the stories can’t be considered horror. They were entertaining and chilling...that might be a better way to describe them.

Un libro corto, entretenido, con historias interesantes.

Frases:

1. ¿No podemos simplemente ir más allá de todo esto?
2. Mejor tener y no necesitar, que necesitar y no tener.
¿Familia? Dios no.

Simple but spooky

Perfectly short stories. Great ideas well executed. Simple but the type of horrors that could make a good chilling movie.

4.8 stars for Vol 1 Short Horror Stories ( definitely worth your time).

I enjoyed these quick reads and the thrills that accompanied them. The stories were cleverly told and I would have enjoyed them even more if they were even a little longer. I love scary stories anytime, but especially when Halloween approaches. Thanx for the shivers!

These are three short stories, and I mean short. They spend time to build it up, but the endings each seemed forced, or rushed I guess. I realize with short stories you don't get the time or space to fill out details in depth.

Story one is about a video gamer on a site I think is supposed to be like You-tube (but of course they can't call it that) and a stalker of hers kills himself and she has to deal with the consequences.

The second centers around a priest who is visited by a strange antique trailer bus and learns to regret the choice to help the two he find inside it.

The Third is about a slightly older woman talking to a cop about steeling small but valuable antique things and turns it into a story of her dead husband.

I can't say much else without giving away surprises.

This audiobook was a great little time filler as I had just over an hour of driving to get back to base and didn't want to start a long novel just before a long weekend off. Three excellent short stories that are well written and nicely narrated. They kind of remind me of my childhood/early teens 40+ years ago when I'd have a torch under the bedcovers reading each edition of the Pan Book of Horror Stories and similar anthologies while I was supposed to be sleeping.

Looking forward to more of these books from Scare Street.

I received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.

Horror one

Wow where do I start this was a very good book the three stories by three different authors was amazing. From the beginning it got my attention and kept it. I'm not sure which one of these I liked more. It didn't take very long to read you can sit down and read it at one time. Though I wouldn't advise for you to read it before bed be cause it will wake you up and you will be turning ages so fast if it was possible you would burn up your e reader awesome book loved it looking forward to the next one.

This book was very enjoyable to read. I always enjoy a good horror story, and this was a collection of them. Some gave chills down my spine as I read them. The way each story is written is unique to the story to give it an extra spook. I suggest not to read it at night, unless you like to creep yourself out like that. Other than that, it was a good book to read. It was a good way to clear my mind from the school year.

This book contains three different stories that does not connect in anyway with each other. Some of it were frightening, but I read more psychological thrillers to compare than just the usual ghost, ghouls, monsters to know that humans are the real monsters.

The titles of the stories :
Number one : let’s play by Rowan rook
Number two: airstream by Ron Ripley
Number three: the figure in the scene by David longhorn.

This is the stories of Scary Ghosts, Monsters, Demons, and Hauntings. This is the trio of short horror stories. The story of mirrors got me. The stories have well developed storylines with believable and interesting characters that make the stories believable and at times you will be creeped out. I think you will enjoy these quick reads. Enjoy

A gamer, a priest, and a widow all walk into a horror story...
Three short stories. All three are good. Disturbing cover.

The pc game Shivers kept popping into my head when reading the gamer story.
The priest story seemed like it was going to have a sci-fi vibe but no. Horror.
I liked the third story the most. A woman stealing stole the wrong item....

Wickedly delightful!

The book ended too soon! Each short story had its own wicked twist on horror! I couldn’t put it down and then sadly it was finished! If you want a quick taste of horror at its finest, I recommend this book!

Short and scary, but well worth it

Short stories are fun while you are reading other novels, or just killing time. These three stories are spooky and excellent. Despite being short, there are so many details to imagine as you read! Looking forward to volume 2.

Very fun collection of three short stories in the horror genre. Perfect for a quick read to meet your reading goal for the year. I read a lot of horror and a lot of short stories. This novella is one of the better ones I’ve read in the past few years in the horror genre. Looking forward to reading more in this series and longer works by the three authors.
