This is an entertaining, well-written, steamy, erotic romance novella. It has likable characters, a sweet female protagonist who is a baker, a hot male protagonist who is a fireman, sizzling chemistry, wit, a touch of humor, and a happily ever after ending. I am looking forward to reading Jenna and Tony's story with great anticipation.

Chloe and Rich have known each other for years. While Chloe has been crushing on her BFF's big bro since they were teens, Rich's adoration is more recent. Taking advantage of a situation that presents itself, they are able to secretly act upon their love for one another. With a lot of sass, laughs, head slaps, and fun against walls and counters, they fumble their way through the topsy turvy craze.

I am voluntarily reviewing this novella ARC.

4/5 my first Alexia Chase book, loved it!

TROPES:

~best friend's brother

Curvy heroine? Check. Protective hero? Check. Dirty talk coming from the heroine? Check. Best friend's brother/known most of each other's lives tropes? Double check. And a great "I didn't know you were a virgin!!!" while in the act scene. Hell yeah, check.

This book had me giggling and kicking my feet. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

SAFETY:

Virgin/celibate?: virgin heroine, not a manwhore hero
OM/OW?: light OM drama

Meh, this was an okay novel. I got frustrated with the characters because they just wouldn't TALK to each other. They were talking around what they wanted to say and making everything 10x worse than if they would have just fessed up their feelings and made their lives so much easier. And the most frustrating part is that Chloe had no problem telling it like it was to Tabitha, but when it came to Rich she was a mime majority of the time.

This was a short, to the point novella that is a fast read, but I just got so frustrated at the characters that I don't think I truly enjoyed it as much as I would have liked.

Chloe is a baker and owns her own bakery right next door to her parents restaurant and she has a huge crush on her best friend’s brother Rich.

Rich is a hottie firefighter and works with the the guy Chloe is dating and he is sure that the guy is not faithful to her. I don’t see why these two were not together from the beginning everyone knows their in love with each other even their parents. I don’t know if I would call this story an insta love because they were in love forever. I voluntarily received an arc copy through Booksprout for my honest review.

More to be won than The Bet.

The Bet is another fantastically sexy and funny story by Alexia Chase. The story is about Chloe and Rich. Chloe and Jenna have been best friends for years and Rich is Jenna's older brother. But Chloe and Rich have both had secret crushes on each other since they were in high school. But of course nothing could ever happen because of the relationship with Jenna, as who wants to lose your best friend or piss off your sister if they did get together and then split up.

This story is a really great laugh outloud RomCom which centers on a bet to be the first to bed Chloe and video it for the grand prize of 500 dollars. This premise I did not think I would originally like but Alexia has written the story in such a way that Chloe actually gets in on the bet when she finds out about it and that the guy she is currently dating is trying to win it. Instead she turns the tables and asks Rich to take the bet and then will in. But with feelings involved, on both sides of this pairing, there may be a lot more than just the bet to be won.

1. Best Friend’s Li’l Sis... 3 stars
Amber & Logan start their relationship quite quickly here. Considering they live under the same roof with her parents, it’s a bit unrealistic that we almost never see her parents. I don’t agree with her decision to change schools to be closer to him for this new romance, either. After she makes that decision, he makes the decision to leave for his career... *sigh* It just seems unbalanced that she changes her future for him & he doesn’t... It was disappointing, really.

The book redeemed itself about halfway through (5 years later) with a nice twist... Although the second part was somewhat predictable, it was still a nice read from there on.

There were a few typos here & there, mostly with punctuation marks (ex. question marks vs periods), & a few very weird spelling errors (ex. aloud vs allowed). However, for the most part, it was well written.

2. Just Another Chance... 3.5 stars

A nice story about two people who had a fling & who are reunited after a long period of time. Rafe needs to come to terms with his PTSD, & Summer needs to admit she had his child without telling him.

This was a well written story that had a few annoying typos here & there (ex. possessive vs plural... daddy’s vs daddies, ex. contraction vs possessive... you’re vs your).

The ending was nice, with a bit more detail than other stories (instead of a quick wrap up, with details, emotions)...

3. Misunderstood... 4 stars

There are still a few typos in this book, usually with punctuation, at times with spelling (for example, hopes vs hoops), at times with missing words (for example, I’d to vs I’d have to, or how felt to be vs how it felt to be)...

However, this was my favorite book so far. There is still the same theme of two people who fall for one another, then lots of time passes & they get back together. However, there are misunderstandings with her family that are original, & though yes, again, the main female character becomes pregnant, this only happens after they are back together for a few months the second time around.

4. Misbehaved... 1 star

I rarely write negative reviews, but... *sigh*

Again, there were a few typos here & there (hopped vs hoped, passed vs past).

In this story, Penny is hired to work for J’ax’s company through an intermediary, which is quite problematic since the last time she saw him he had publically given her a bad review for the night they had spent together... What Jax did was inexcusable, but what made his behavior worse is he did not try to apologize for it in the past or in the present (for over two thirds of the book).

Jax had ample opportunity to say he was sorry for what he had done when Penny first started working for him, & because he didn’t & at times acted in a smug way, this made him a bit unlikeable. After they get together a couple of time (still without him having explained his pas behvior), he even tells her to that “what happened in the past should stay in the past...” Well now, considering how she suffered because of what he did that is unacceptable.

This book pushed things a bit too far, with the lack of apology... Now I realize that they both decided to sleep together, but Jax just was not honest for the longest time about what he had done... Then when they went on a business trip, he told the hotel to lie & say there were no other rooms available so that they would be forced to be in the same room together, which means he took away her choice, her right to say anything in the matter. & yes, I know they both chose to be together, but her choice was not with the full knowledge of what he had done (both present - with the hotel room, & past). Considering how she had to completely change her life after the way he behaved in the past, this makes this story not just unrealistic but also illogical & disappointing.

When Lydia told Penny that she knew that Jax had done stupid things in the past & that this is what made him “special” this was just a bit NO for me...

I think it would have been more realistic for Penny to pretend to get back at him by sleeping with Jax, then after he was “into” the relationship, plan to break up with him badly. Even this would have been better...

I came away from the book thinking Jax was conceited & immature. He proved this with his reaction to learning of her pregnancy. Nothing Penny could have done could be worse than what he had done to her when they were in college, really. Added to this is the fact that neither of them spoke of using any protection at all... *sigh*

5. Just Faking It... 4 stars

The typos continue on & off here (for example, an opination woman vs an opinionated woman).

Here Sofia & Jake’s story is again similar to the other stories in this boxset, but somehow, it seems original, as well... The pretend marriage probably made it different a bit & more enjoyable to read.

~~

The entire boxset seems to have stories that have the same theme... A girl is innocent, falls for a guy with a terrible past, then ends up pregnant (in book 3, 3 & 5 the girl ends up pregnant after they get back together the second time around)... It’s a predictable pattern, but still fine. However for most of these stories (1, 2, 3), while the girl is waiting for him, she doesn’t go out with anyone, while he runs around doing whatever to any girl who’ll have him. This part is a bit much for me... Why can’t she run around & have a bit of fun, too? This is a bit too one sided for me...

The only exception to this was in book 4, Misbehaved, where they both stayed single until they met each other again...

This is the first in a new series and is Rich and Chloe’s story. Chloe has had a crush on her best friend’s older brother for years, unknown to her that her feeling was reciprocated. This is a well written friends / lovers’ story, which is fun, humorous, and with friendships, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This was a great story to read. It was written in such a way that you could really feel the characters. They were brought to life and the story was both funny, sad, exciting and revealing!

Chloe is the full figured curvy gal that has a bakery. She was dating Jim when she found out that he was only seeing her because he was bet $500 that he couldn't get in her pants. Chloe has always been discerning regarding who gets her V-card, and Jim just didn't feel right. After find out about the bet, she decides to take matters into her own hands. When Rich, her best friend's brother, tells her about the bet, she tells him that she wants him to take the bed and she will make sure he gets the money. She has always had a crush on Rich, who is now a buff fireman and he really lights her fire.

Rich has always craved Chloe but has never tried anything with her. He just never felt that he was good enough for her, plus he really didn't want to deal with his sister if he and Chloe and him got together and then broke up. But when Chloe asks him to take the bed, he realizes that if he doesn't, she will find someone else to be her first, and he won't stand for that!

Chloe has loved Rich since she was in high school. Rich was her best friend Jenna’s brother, she doesn’t think she is good enough for him, he wants a girl who is less curvy than she is.
Rich has been in love with Chloe for years, but he doesn’t feel that he is good enough for her. Then one day he is out with Jim who Chloe is currently dating and discovers that Jim was only dating Chloe for a bet. When confronted by this, Jim tells Rich to break up with her for him.

Rich tells Chloe everything and Jenna is so angry, she tells Rich he has to enter into the bet and sleep with Chloe to win five hundred dollars. Chloe tells Rich if he won’t do it, she will find someone else to do it. Rich is determined that he will do it and win Chloe.

Then begins the comedy of errors that will make you laugh. Rich takes Chloe’s virginity and there are steamy love scenes to enjoy and misconceptions and laughs and finally a very happy ending.

Rich has always wanted his sister's best friend but never acted on it. That is until her current boyfriend cheated on her in front of him and then told him to break up with her for him. It seems her boyfriend was only with her for a bet which he didn't win. When Rich breaks the new to Chloe she's not heartbroken she's angry and wants revenge. So she asks him to place a bet on sleeping with her so they can screw the others out of money. However nothing is what it seems and there's another player behind everything. Things heat up between Chloe and Rich making what started out as pretend into something much more. Will Rich finally get his girl?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

The story revolves around Chloe and Rich. Chloe is a sweet and sassy, curvy virgin that makes baked goods that drive her friends wild. Rich is Chloe’s best friend Jenna’s brother. He’s a sexy as sin fireman that has been in love with Chloe for years. Chloe has been in love with Rich for years. Their mothers know it, so do their best friends. In fact the only people that are completely clueless are Chloe and Rich. When Chloe finds out that her boyfriend Jim was only dating her for a bet, she kicks him to the curb and decides to take matters into her own hands. She asks Rich if he will help her out.
The story is great and all of the characters are believable and realistic. You find yourself rooting for them both but wondering why nobody actually ‘really’ talk to each other ;-) This is the first book in a series and it will be great to revisit the different characters as their stories overlap. Definitely a series to start reading.

What a great story! This book is a little longer than other stories by this author but it is perfect for Chloe and Rich's story. Chloe has had a crush on Rich, forever but he is her best friend, Jeanna's older brother. That is just off limits. Someone is out for revenge on Chloe and wants to humiliate her. Chloe's current boyfriend, Jim is just trying to win the bet. He isn't up to the task so now Rich takes the bet. There is more than $500 on the line, there are two hearts in danger of being shattered or melded together for a HEA. As always from this author, you get a well written story with no extra fluff. A great read to squeeze into your day for a reset. Enjoy!

Chloe finds out that the guy she was dating was only going out with her as a bet. The bet was to video him having sex with her and show the proof for 500 dollars. When Chloe finds out, she asks Rich, the older brother of her best friend to take the bet. He only agrees to do it, because he has secretly been in love with her and doesn't want her to find anyone else. Little does he know, but she has been in love with him also. Will this bet, ruin their chance at happily ever after? What will her best friend say and do when the truth is exposed?

This was a cute read that almost drove me nuts with all the miscommunication by everyone in this story. However, I did love the characters especially our main couple, Chloe and Rich.

It is weird that I didn’t understand the reasoning for anything happening in this book, but I still loved it? Rich was great but a bit hard on himself in terms of his worthiness. Chloe was at first a bit quiet but that quickly changed, but to me she did take some risks that were unnecessary.

In the end, I did enjoy the story, but everyone in this town needs to stop making so many assumptions about each other.

I’m a bit intrigued by Jenna and Tony since she basically hates him ;)

This novella is part of the Innocence Triology by Alexia Chase. Chloe, a baker and a virgin, learns her ex-boyfriend had placed a bet upon his or anyone else’s ability to take her virginity. She devises a plan to have Rich, her brother’s best friend, to “deflower” her and obtain the money of the wager. The book contains lots of steamy chemistry, secret desires and love, unexpected twists, and fun characters. The novella is a good quick read.

The Bet is an over-the-top, insta-love, virgin, fireman, best friend’s brother erotic novella with heart! She’s a virgin baker in desperate need of someone to take a bet. He happens to be her best friend’s brother, a sexy fireman, and just the man she’d like to pop her cherry. Rich has a weakness for icing and Chloe. This was so good, and very emotional. Made me cry. Can't wait for the next one. Little Red Riding Hood is in the house and she’s carrying a big basket of goodies!

The bet sets this whole scenario in motion, for Chloe and Rich, which makes them finally act upon their attraction to each other. Wonderful friends who become more than just friends, but can they each own up to their feelings for one another or will they let this opportunity pass them by. Truly loved the ending to this book and looking forward to Jenna and Tony’s story.

This was so sweet but so hot! I love it when the stories include a strong woman that stands up for herself. Gosh, the communication between Rich and Chloe was driving me crazy but once they got it together, it was explosive. Not to mention, that I also laughed at some of the antics. Love the dual point of view and the epilogue. I hope Jenna and Tony get their story soon.

The bet started it all... and It may have been the spark that lit the inferno. :D. It felt like they were doing the chacha but couldn’t meet in the middle. Hiding their love from the other when they are so perfect together until their her best friend/his sister and his friend pushed them back together and they ended up doing the tango and finally waltz their way to their own wedding.

It was fun.

A sweet novella with an HEA.
I did like the storyline and the characters, but they made me feel frustrated in their decision making and lack of communication skills . I was also turned off that in order to be together they had to give up on important things in their life.
