A kiss can cure any ailment…

Lady Abigail has been infatuated with Mr. James Townsbridge for three years. But when she is finally introduced to him, she finds him arrogant and rude. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop her heart from racing or her stomach from flip-flopping while in his presence. In fact, being near him makes her feel somewhat ill. Which complicates

This was the loveliest of reads. The writing is excellent, the story is heartwarming, the characters are totally likable and relatable, and the HEA is well deserved. Shorter books often make you feel as if the story was rushed and you feel a bit unfinished – but that is definitely not the case here. I think we got to know the characters well, the villain got his just desserts (though I hate who it was

What a perfectly delightful story! The book description gives some idea of how Abigail and James end up betrothed, but reading it is entirely different! Even though it's not funny for our protagonists, I was laughing myself silly at their awkward situation. The confusion and miscommunication occurred in a very believable way. There were developments I did not expect, which led to a terrifying event.

The story was not rushed but it was so good, I wish it had been much longer; there was a whole no

Will a betrothal with a bad starting point lead to a marriage of convenience or a match made in heaven ...

This was a short but fast paced read, so much happened in so few pages.
When an instant distrust because of one’s nervousness and the other’s headache drives them to misconceptions about one another.
Sure the beginning of their relationship appears at first doomed but heartened by their own siblings, they try to see the other under a different light.
Yet Abby’s awk

This was such a fun delightful read. Though not my normal genre I was very intrigued by the plot and the characters. I highly recommend this one to those that enjoy a great historical romance. By Laura

A short story/novella

Abigail is shy and nervous around James. Getting off on the wrong foot doesn't make it any better. An accidental encounter turns into an offer of marriage or she'll be ruined. As they get to know each they grow closer together. The spark and humor between them gives hope for a good marriage, until a friend takes matters into his own hands and threatens their happiness. Nice flow to the story with an interesting development of the characters. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ad

This story was a surprise. Oooh was it ever! And I meant that in a very good way.

At the beginning, it seemed like it was going to be the misunderstandammit to end all misunderstandammits. Admittedly, at the beginning, the hero and heroine don’t know each other AT ALL, so the way that they begin by misunderstanding each other and keep on doing it at every turn is a direct result of them being barely acquainted in the first place.

James Townsbridge, unlike most of his friends, is actually looking forward to the day he’ll marry. He has seen many love matches, including his parents’, and he decides to start seriously looking for his Miss Right. He won’t find her at tonight’s ball, though, as he has an agonizing headache, which is making him feel seriously ill. He sees the Marquess Foxborough approaching his party, along with his wife, and no doubt his daughter. James is at first intri

Sissy's Romance Book Review
Lady Abigail's Perfect Match by Sophie Barnes is book Two in The Townsbridges Series. This is the story of Abigail and James. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Abigail has been smitten with James from a far but when they actually meet he isn't the person she thought he would be. James and Abigail end up being caught in a compromising position which leads them to be married. They slowly start to understand that maybe their first meeti ...more

Be careful what you wish for, because your heart just may get it. James and Abigail write their own love song. Barnes takes emotions along for a ride that proves to be anything but smooth sailing. Lady Abigail's Perfect Match is a salute to the best parts of Regency romance. From the irresistible characters to the over the top drama and the unpredictable attraction, Sophie Barnes rewinds back to a time of complicated hearts and unforgettable stereotypes. With a hint of intrigue and handful of he ...more
