A romantic Christmas story set in beautiful seaside England? Yes, please! Lindsay Harrell's Like a Winter Snow is the perfect mix of depth and charm. Joy and Oliver are so likable and relatable—and together, they're just plain adorable. Plus, I can't help but love that they're a little older than your average hero and heroine. From the Christmasy atmosphere to moments both swoony and poignant, I loved this story...and I know readers will, too!

After reading and loving “The Secrets Of Paper And Ink” this Christmas return to Port Willis and its characters, was on my MUST read list. I am thrilled to report this story was pretty much perfect! Joy and Oliver’s story was everything a Christmas romance should be. The story was a quick and easy read with a charming location-I mean. Christmas in England?!?! What’s not to love? The story moved well and you can’t help but hope Joy and Oliver will get their Christmas happily ever after fairy tale ...more

"I suppose it's a reminder. That sometimes, the things God has planned for our lives aren't what we expect. But they're good. Somehow, they're good."

If you've read The Secrets of Paper and Ink, this novella will thrill your heart as we reconnect with Joy, Sophia's best friend, as she helps Sophia prepare for her Christmas wedding in Port Willis, England. Even if you haven't read the first novel, this novella can be read as a stand-alone and you'll fall head-over-heels in love with Jo

Like a Winter Snow takes readers to a picturesque Cornwall, England for Christmas AND a wedding! Readers of Harrel's novel The Secrets of Paper and Ink will be delighted to revisit the characters and see the spotlight on Joy Beckman now, the bride's best friend.

Amidst all the festivities both quaint and beautiful, a story of romance and surrender unfolds. I appreciate that Lindsay always balances romance with "women's fiction" themes that are very realistic and often serious. For Joy

Like a Winter Snow was a sweet Christmas novella! I loved returning to Port Willis (The Secrets of Paper and Ink) and getting to see what was happening with the characters from that book.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I connected with Joy. Her story was difficult and had moments in which I felt for what she was going through. I really liked her friendship with Sophia.

The romance was heartwarming...Oliver seemed like a great guy. The ending was good and I think th

Oh how I loved this novella! It was so good! This made me want to pack my bags and go to Port Willis! Too bad it isn’t a real place. Oliver was so swoon-worthy. My only complaint is that the story wasn’t longer. I didn’t want it to end!

I was given a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author, but was not required to write a review. The thoughts and comments are my own.

Lindsay Harrel brings to life the story of Joy Beckman, the best friend of Sophia from Harrel’s The Secrets of Paper and Ink. Here, Joy gets her own story told. This story is about giving up a life and career to help take care of a parent with Alzheimer’s and the pains and joys that come with that. It’s about a best friend’s wedding and about falling in love when you least expect it. This story is sweet and charming and one that readers will thoroughly enjoy!

Oh readers, you are never going to want to leave Cornwall after reading this sweet, holiday novella. Harrel has once again captured my heart in this setting, leaving me wanting more - which I can get just by reading this, or her novel The Secrets of Paper and Ink again. While visiting some old friends, we meet some new ones, which is exactly why I love revisiting towns in books. Oliver was everything I wanted him to be and the some. I mean, I'll travel to Cornwall if Joy doesn't come to her sens ...more

I simply adored this Christmas novella. It was wonderful to return to the fictional town of Port Willis and revisit the residents readers met in The Secrets of Paper and Ink.

In Like a Winter Snow, we get to read Joy's story. I loved having a heroine that wants to take care of everyone, but finds she cannot do it all. It is this vulnerability that makes her so lovable and relatable.
The beautiful setting, the return of well-loved characters and delightfully fun romance

I loved this Holiday Novella! I really enjoyed that it featured characters from The Secrets of Paper and Ink! I also loved that it was centered around Christmas time, however it wasn’t anything and everything related to Christmas. The characters were likable and I really felt sucked into the setting as soon as I started reading! I felt that there was a lot of story packed into the short pages of this novella and I think Lindsay Harrel balanced it all quite nicely. I also loved how this one ended ...more

'I don't think I want what God seems to have planned for my life.'

This was my first book by Lindsay Harrel and I enjoyed it very much. I need to go back and read the book before it, though, because I felt as if I missed something. But I think it stands well as a stand alone. Like a Winter Snow is a precious little story of a woman who thinks she has to be there for folks but doesn't take the time for herself, not realizing that God has planned a great life for her also! I loved revisiting the town of Port Willis and if characters. I adore Christmas books and this one features a wedding ❤Romance meets women's fiction with a side of Faith. Joy's story is a sweet one and Oliver is her "meet cute". Joy wants to help everyone, to fix everything, and she certainly tries! She does not allow herself any grace although she would be the first to extend it to others in the same situation! Joy must learn to surrender, to have faith in the outcome, and to live life to its f ...more

WOW! What a beautiful, heartwarming story that author Lindsay Harrel has given us just before Christmas! This Novella may be read as a stand alone but if the reader wants a deeper understanding of the characters, then they need to read THE SECRETS OF PAPER & INK first.

This novella is a sigh-worthy romance that’s just right for the Christmas season, yet it’s not “sappy sweet” at all. We met several of these characters in Lindsay Harrel’s “The Secret of Paper and Ink” and in this book we return to Port Willis in Cornwall for Sophia’s Christmas wedding.

This story, however, focuses on Joy Beckman, Sophia’s best friend. The author does a great job of helping the reader relate to Joy and her struggle of trying to make the best decisions of how to take care of her

This novella was absolutely charming and sweet and everything I wanted it to be! I loved travelling back to the enchanting town of Port Willis. It captured my heart in The Secrets of Paper and Ink and I was delighted to have the chance to visit again. I was also really happy that Joy got her story! The story opens with Joy Beckman. Joy recently quit her job in a counseling center to move to Florida. She moved to help care for her mother who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her mother suffered a fall when Joy fell asleep while being her caregiver and Joy blamed herself for letting it happen.

As I read this Christmas novella, I kept thinking that Like A Winter Snow would make a wonderful Christmas movie. The charming little town right on the coast in England provides a great setting as friends prepare for a Christmastime wedding. A quick trip to London adds a little history and the return trip home to Florida helps to provide clarity and answers. Although the truth might be hard for the main character to hear and accept, once she does, she is ready to fully embrace her life. Her answ ...more

It's story of Joy who leaves her aging parents to go help her best friend Sophia in charming town in England prepare for her Christmas time wedding. She meets Oliver who is helping out his aunt in her antique shop. That's where Joy and Oliver meet. So happens Oliver is a friend of the groom and is also in the wedding.

Sweet Holiday Novella!

This is a very sweet story ❤ Joy is dealing with a lot. Helping her father care for her mother who suffers from Alzheimer's, always being the good friend who puts everyone else first. Joy meets Oliver and it changes all the things she once thought.
I loved Oliver! He was such a gentleman and he understood Joy. He was a good listener too.

Joy and Oliver are both delightful people. Joy is so caring and thoughtful of others. I could relate to her feeling she needed to control situations even when she shouldn’t have that control in the first place. She and Oliver instantly click. They get each other. I love Lindsay Harrel’s ability to create relevant and real people, even in a novella.

Gentle and fierce

Such a great story! As I read this I was in the hospital waiting room waiting on a parents surgery...fully identifying with the what-it's of the future. I also appreciated the story being about characters with a fuller backstory due to their age. Of course, an English snowstorm with the characters cuddled up before a fire was also super-romantical.

This was such a good follow-up story to “Secrets of Paper and Ink”! (You can totally read this without having read that, but it sure makes it more enjoyable.) Excellent read.
