A sweet, sexy twist on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale where Jackie gets a VERY happy ending, if you know what I mean. HA! Really, though, both Jackie and Cormac end up in their happy place and that's what I'm here for, so I am pleased.

ANYWAY. So Jackie and her sister are doing their thing on their homestead (to be honest, Jackie's doing what she needs to do to keep them alive while Bella is...kind being an entitled little sponge of a sister, but so it goes, right?) when things

What a creative story!

I enjoyed this book a lot and pretty much devoured it. The story was interesting and unique which is something I appreciate a lot. I’ve never read an alien romance with a H that has some plant-like attributes.

While the H was a beta H, he was sweet and likable and never abused the h. There are no triggers and it’s not a dark story. If you enjoy alien romance and are looking for something with a sweet H, open door sexy times and an original story, you should give this one a

Honey Phillips has to have an amazing imagination to come up with such great stories. Jackie is to kind for her own good. Cormac is an amazing alien with unusual abilities, an unusual home, and Ms. Phillips comes up with the most creative male genitalia! This is a play on an old fairytale, but it's also more. I think this story is telling us that you really have to look out for yourself at some point.

Cormac and Jackie are great characters they overcome a lot of obstacles to get their happy every after. The wicked sister and boyfriend are just bad enough to be really believable. I loved this story

A fairytale with a sci-fi twist!
I love this ingenious take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fairytale! It is a story richly told, set in a desolate location. You’ll recognize many elements from Jack and the Beanstalk. I had to laugh at the creative way some of them were woven into the story. Still, this a truly delightful romance that will satisfy a reader with the excitement, intrigue, ingenuity, and a HEA.

3⭐ rounded down.

An interesting take on a classic fairy tale, Jackie and the Giant adds a touch of sci-fi into the mix with novel approaches to elements of the original story.

On a red dusty planet colonized by humanity, Jackie and her sister are barely making ends meet. Well, Jackie is anyway. Spending most of her time at the mining claim their parents' owned, Jackie makes their meager existence possible while waiting on the quarterly market day where she can sell the crystals for a bette

A wonderful spin on an old story

I really enjoy books by Honey Phillips !! Her characters are well thought out and researched. U can tell all the love that goes into each and every word !!
In this story we meet Jackie . Her and her younger sister are basically orphans on a planet that is dry and arid. They survive by Jackie mining the plot of land her father bought for crystals. These crystals are bought by Alien traders on trading day , which happens once a month or so. There is one particular

3.75 stars. Cute alien take on the Jack & the Beanstalk tale. A treaty of sorts exists between the human settlers of an arid planet and the aliens who inhabit floating cloud islands above that greatly restricts the level of interaction the two species can have (it seems they can’t even speak to each other). Plus the aliens can’t survive on the arid ground without wearing massive bio suits. But one day per quarter year the aliens come to a market to trade, and over the years Cormac has fallen ...more

Jackie is a simple woman with a great amount of responsibility. Since her parents died she has taken over mining their claim for Vaekest crystals and looking after her fragile younger sister, Bella. Once quarterly, she goes to trade with the cloud Aliens. Jackie has taken to one particular one that sits and listens to her talk about her life while she has tea on trading days. Cormac is entranced with the strong, little human, Jackie. He wants her for his own desperately, so he puts a plan in mot ...more

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book for an honest review. This book exceeded all my expectations! When I first read the blurb I knew it’d be good just not how good. Honey Phillips did such a great job of modernizing Jack and the Beanstalk. Jackie is a hard worker, miming crystals to trade for credits for her and her sister. She works hard every day and the highlight of her day is when it’s time to trade with the aliens who come from the sky. Cormac lives up in the clouds but longs for Jackie ...more

Jackie is fascinated with the alien who trades with her every quarter although he does not speak he listens to her. She works her fingers to the bone taking care of her ungrateful younger sister but when he sister trades their COW for a magic bean Jackie will get the surprise of a lifetime. Cormac wants Jackie but he cannot speak to her on her planet so he trades with her sister for a bean to lure her to him. Jack and the Beanstalk is a classic fairytale and has been done numerous different ways over the years, Honey Phillips has blown them all of out of the water with her creative take on the tale. Turning Jack into Jackie - a badass woman stuck on a barren planet working hard every day to look after her younger sister. I always thought the Jack character was a bit of an ungrateful tool but Jackie is instantly likeable. The Giant is also a really likeable character. I love the way the classic elemen ...more

What a wonderful twist to a classic fairytale 💖

Cormac is a wonderful alien giant who catches a glimpse of Jackie at a trade market and falls head over heels for her. He spends the next few years listening to Jackie as she describes her life mining crystals and taking care of her sister Bella. Cormac knows Bella is selfish at heart and puts a plan together to spirit Jackie away so she can have a better life. This you have the scientifically made bean stalk that creates just the right amou

A Fairy Tale That Will Make You Smile!

Honey Phillips never disappoints. (If you haven’t read Mama and The Alien Warrior, run, don’t walk, to your nearest book provider - it’s a pure warm hug of a book). This one is a great take on Jack and the Beanstalk, one I really never expected. Jackie is overworked, and definitely under appreciated, as she tries to take care of her sister and herself, on a fairly inhospitable planet. Cormac is the big, green alien who has watched and adored Jackie from (

The Retelling I never knew I craved

Jack and the Bean Stalk has never been told like this before, and I encourage anyone looking for that next hit series to pick this one up.

My only complaint it's I wish it was a little less background drama and a bit more up front conflict. Having more interactions between Jackie and her sister and Jackie's original admirer would have provided a deeper plot and a higher satisfaction to the conflict resolution.

Spoiler alert: stop now unless you want a ruined

**spoilers maybe**

What can I say about this book?! How about OMG! Jackie is a hard working woman who wants to be strong for her sister. Cormac is the alien who lives her. And her sister is a total whore. Wow. I knew the sister was bad early on, but then she does some seriously messed up stuff. Jackie and Cormac are so sweet together and it's just an adorable story. He wants to protect her from her sister, but had to let her see it herself. I just loved it

This was a very cute, quick read for me. I loved the out-of-this-world take on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk. I'm excited to read the other stories by the other authors in this fairy tale series, but I am also crossing my fingers and hoping that this story is the beginning of a great series by this author. Either way, I really enjoyed Jackie and Cormac, and I'm glad that Jackie saw her sister for who she really was.

A fantastic sci fi romance that is a retelling of the classic James and the beanstalk.

My review is a simple one because this is a wonderful story. From start to finish I was inthralled I loved the sci fi spin on this tale and the author did such a fantastic job.

Cormac was a wonderful character. His back story was both original and interesting and I was left wanting to know more about his species.
As always with Honey’s books the chemistry between the main characters was believable, realistic a

I’m loving these Cosmic Fairy Tales. You’ve got Jackie, the giant, a beanstalk, a magic bean and even cow and harp. But from there the story goes beyond the original tale. A hardworking Jackie will always try her best for her sister and herself. But things aren’t working out. But one little bean will change her options. The giant is so much more and definitely sees something he wants when it comes to Jackie. I love the mix of fairytale and sci-fi. And the romance is sweet but gets pretty hot at ...more

If like me, you loved Mama and the Alien Warrior, you will love this story, too!

Jackie is a crystal miner on a dry planet. She has a frail younger sister who she protects at all costs. Cormac is the buyer for her crystals, and over time, he has begun to fall in love with her even though he cannot speak with her. How they manage to overcome obstacles to come together is a story so sweet that you will read it again and again!

Light and gentle

That is what I think of this alien, earth fairytale.
Jackie the miner meets her Giant while trading her minerals. He falls for her, but they can’t communicate.
I enjoyed the slowly evolution of their relationship. Though I liked the sky home, didn’t understand why his peoples tinkering killed animal life, without killing plant life. Not to mention how they changed. Liked idea of them.

Cormac and Jackie, quite the pair here. Loved the spin on the old fairytale. Never really thought about turning it scifi but that's why I'm a reader, not a writer!
I really liked Cormac, now he's the kind of alien we all need to meet, I'd definitely climb the bean stalk for him! I can so see why Jackie did it, she's stronger then I'd ever be.
No clue how she'd do more of these but since fairy tales are done maybe they can do legends or myths next? Love these multi Author stories!

Two thumbs up for Cormac and his magic bean

I seriously don't know how the author keeps coming up with these wonderfully creative stories! I really loved Jackie and Cormac and with the epilogue suggestion a love interest between 2 additional characters I could only hope for a sequel to this world.

This was such a fun spin on the fairy tale! I really enjoyed how the fairy tale elements were woven into this story, set in such an arid place, and loved the intrigue and romance that went with it. Good fun!
