Fan Mail is the second novel in the Aspen Adams Suspense series by Daryl Wood Gerber. It was published in 2019, and I previously read the first book in the series over the summer. I was introduced to Gerber's work through a few of her cozy mystery series and wanted to read her latest release from a different genre. It's becoming a strong series that I highly recommend.

The books takes place in Lake Tahoe (which is not Colorado, despite my mind trying to insist on it — thanks Daryl!) a

I really enjoyed the premise of the story. The author delivers an addicting story that has so many twists, it’s hard to keep them straight.

Fan Mail is book two in a series and it seemed like it would’ve been a good idea to read that first one to get some of the backstory of the characters. It was easy to keep up with what was going on, but it would’ve been nice to have a little bit more in-de

An interesting read to say the least! Aspen has been working as a PI in Lake Tahoe, Nevada but has experience as a therapist, also. Also, she has been guardian for her niece, Candice, who is 14 years old.

Many possible suspects in this story! This book begins and ends with a lot of intrigue and twisty suspense!

Aspen is brought into a case by a popular TV news anchor, Gloria, with whom Aspen had been acquainted. She gets both assistance and a bit of interference from her boyfriend, Ni

This series definitely needs to be on your TBR list! An intelligent, strong and stubborn female main character is surrounded by other strong, intelligent characters with realistic flaws to make them relatable. The type of characters that you would like for neighbors, friends and family to be. The plot line is strong and well written to keep you entertained and flipping pages to see what happens next. In this book, Aspen finds herself drawn into her friend's weird connection with a serial killing ...more

Aspen is back to working cases at her Aunt's P.I. firm and she is happy to be dating Nick. When local news anchor Gloria Morning starts receiving some weird fan mail that seems to coincide with recent murders she asks Aspen to look into things for her. Fan Mail is the second book in the Aspen Adams Suspense series and is I think even better than the first book. Daryl Wood Gerber has a knack for keeping you on the edge of your seat with her spine tingling suspense in this book.

Aspen once again is thrust into the middle of an investigation with one right after another murder and her client Gloria is getting mysterious notes that are tied to the murders. How are they all tied together and can Aspen help Gloria find who is sending her

This is a solid thriller that builds some good suspense, has an interesting premise, and went between sympathetic characters in a way that forced me to keep reading later than planned each night.
I am unfamiliar with this author and didn't realize it was the 2nd book in a series but that did not make the story hard to follow. Gerber is clearly a talented writer and someone I will seek out in the future. I did feel that I was missing a little backstory, but that only made me want to find the

I was super excited to receive Fan Mail (An Aspen Adams Novel of Suspense Book 2) and read more about Aspen and was especially thrilled to see her niece, Candace, featured more prominently in Fan Mail. I enjoy Candace very much. She's a sensitive teenager who is an excellent side-kick to Aspen.

I like how Aspen attempts to navigate being a parent to Candace, and I chuckle at some of their typical parent-child dialogue and interactions.

Fan Mail is the second book in the Aspen Adams suspense series. This story had me totally captivated from the beginning to the very end. A real page turner!
Aspen and her teenage niece Candace have found their way to a routine giving them a normal life.
Aspen is still working PI cases at her Aunt Max’s Agency.
An intriguing story, twists and turns as the body count keeps rising.

If you are a “Cozy Mystery” reader you are going to really enjoy this one. Aspin, the main character is written so well that you will be rooting for her. She and her niece Candace make an unusually unique team.
Aspin gets involved in not just one murder but several and she follows the clues until she get this right person for the crimes. She uses all of the skills she learned as a therapist and now as a detective to solve these mysteries and to help the victims survivors.

This is the second book in the Aspen Adams series, I haven’t read the first so these characters were all new to me. This can be read as a stand alone novel, as it is a completely new story, although there are a couple of references to the last book, or last case.

Superspeed readers like me can read 150 - 200+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. LOL

I received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.

Fan Mail is another solid suspense in this captivating new series. While there are many uncertainties throughout the book, one thing is certain: there is never a boring day in the life of Aspen Adams. This entry to the series finds Aspen slowly ascending the ladder of her aunt Max's private investigation office while juggling the niece she accepted into her home in Book 1. While it may not be necessary to begin with the first book, you might glean a bit more backstory for explanation into her current lifestyle. Candace, sister Rosie's daughter, is fourteen and alternately wise and intrusive, insightful and ignorant.

Daryl Wood Gerber's latest series is a departure from the Cookbook Nook mysteries I've read in the past.

There is a new genre out there - robust female lead but with attendant detective fiance/lover/boyfriend and
a child/teenager/dog who inevitably answers friend's plea to solve a murder because said friend is either a suspect, being blackmailed or targetted; she solves said murder/s in her own inimitable way, usually off-piste and against wishes of said detective.. 'Fan Mail' is definitely one of those. The story is well-written though and the murders not too gory, although are unpleasant. There
