Jacques Rupnik is a French historian and political scientist, deals with Central and Eastern Europe. He studied history and political science at the Sorbonne in Paris and at Harvard University in the USA. From 1977-1982 he was an editor at the BBC in London. In 1990-1992 he worked as an adviser to Czech President Václav Havel. Currently he is professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and director of research at the Fondation des Sciences Politiques in Paris.
