Cleaning up after playboy Paxton deBraun is a full time job.
His family is worth billions. They are the elite. They influence politicians. They’re the power behind the power. Paxton is their golden child, wealthy in his own right, a rising star in Washington DC’s political scene…a 21st century Jay Gatsby, prone to throwing lavish, expensive, wild, and destructive parties.
I’m a housekeeper at a hotel owned by his mother, Camilla deBraun, and I’m sent in to clean up after such a party.
What I wasn’t expecting was to find Paxton naked in his bed, passed out and breathtaking even hungover.
Even more unexpected is the proposal bombshell he drops on me: Marry him.
A man I met once, a golden god, richer than belief, gorgeous beyond comprehension, and arrogant beyond fathom.
Me, a hotel maid working three jobs to make ends meet…Marry him.
It’s supposed to be fake, more of a business agreement than marriage proposal.
Only…it turns out there’s more to this sexy billionaire than meets the eye.

“Sometimes, a kiss is just a kiss–the first time, that’s what it was, Paxton kissing me to prove a point. Other times, a kiss is something more. It’s a gateway drug to the heavy stuff. This is one of those kisses.”
Jasinda Wilder has another hit on her hands with Married in Michigan!!
Married in Michigan is the latest installment of the 50 States of Love Series and it follows the story of Paxton and Makayla. From the moment I dove into Makayla and Paxton’s story, I was hooked. Makayla’s life hasn’t been an easy one. She’s working three jobs just to keep her head above water and take care of her sick mother. However, Makayla’s world is about to get turned upside down. She’s used to cleaning up after the rich and famous, but when she meets Paxton, she gets more than she ever bargained for…..Paxton has big dreams and a playboy reputation. So, when his mother tells him he needs to clean up his act and get married, Paxton wants nothing more than to rebel. His big plan??? Marry the girl that is the total opposite of him in every way. It was supposed to be easy; no strings, no romance, no nothing. But fate has other plans for Paxton and Makayla. Can these two opposites pull off a fake marriage? Will their relationship turn into the real deal?? There’s only one way to find out…..
Married in Michigan was a terrific read from beginning to end. I feel instantly in love with the characters and couldn’t wait to dive further into their story. Makayla was a force to be reckoned with. She was smart, professional and wasn’t afraid of hard work. She wasn’t ashamed of where she came from or the struggles she had to endure. And then we have Paxton. Paxton is used to a certain lifestyle and always gets his way. He’s arrogant and a total playboy. But, there is definitely more to Paxton than meets the eye. When he cares about someone, he goes all in. He loves big and has some seriously swoon worthy moments. Together these two couldn’t be more opposites, but their chemistry can’t be denied. The push and pull between Paxton and Makayla was fantastic as was their banter. I loved watching these two navigate their way through a fake relationship and couldn’t wait to see how their story would end.
Paxton and Makayla stole my heart from the very beginning and left me with a big smile on my face in the end. I had a terrific time getting lost in Married in Michigan and look forward to the next installment of the 50 States of Love Series.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
it's like a pissing contest between the H/h. she's going on and on how poor she is and how hard life is and he's going on and on about how rich he is, lmao. his wealth is thrown into every interaction at this point. the cars, the private jets, the million dollar paintings, the expensive scotch, the watches.. blah blah blah and this is the part i managed to read and not skim over--so i can only imagine all the luxury i might have missed in my skimming. it's so fucking annoying. i'm out.
Married in Michigan is a total you should read, especially with all that is going on in the world today. Don't get me wrong, this a contemporary Rom-Com but there is a really strong message in this book.
Paxton deBraun is a rich playboy with hopes of making it as a politician in DC. However the only to keep his political hopes alive is to get married and move away from those playboy ways. This all at the request of his mother dear. He either has to marry an ex that his mother hand picked for him or find his own suitable bride.
Makayla Poe is a maid who has been tasked with cleaning up after one of Paxton's big parties. While do this she over hears his mother's demands. Overhearing this demand isn't the only thing that catches her attention. She catches Paxton's and he sees the perfect opportunely to form a plan for a fake marriage. The only problem with this plan is what happens when things stop being fake and turn to the real thing.
This book is a great fall read that will have you laughing, crying and cheering. The chemistry between Paxton and Makayla is amazing. These 2 play off of each other so well that you are cheering for them from the very first page.
From the opening pages, this story just gave and gave! Witty dialogue with so much unsaid at first eventually gave way to deep conversations and always, always truth…
Pax was a man born into a family of privilege and responsibility. Makayla was a woman who kept her head down as she worked incredibly hard to keep her small family going. Coming together for practical reasons, as well as a big thumb to Pax’s family, they slowly found there was more than just business between them….
And that journey was full of painful revelations and a lot of emotion, as their deeply held fears slowly came to the surface as well as a realization then love had found them both.
This was a fab read full of great characters and a story that just spoke to me – regardless how out of my life it may be. It felt real for Pax and Mack and that made it just… perfect.
Yeah...there are times Paxton needs very little coaxing, "...he pauses, hesitating with a grin. “You may kiss—” Paxton’s got that part down, his lips on mine, hot and searching and demanding. “I guess you know,” the minister says." I liked this book, I loved Paxton.
OMG, I LOVED this story. Married in Michigan is a wonderfully slow, not so sweet, sexy, romance story that I could not put down. Jasinda has written a novel that puts romance books into the spotlight.
Paxton is an a$$ no matter how you look at it. He is a rich, privileged brat even for how old he is. When Makayla is tasked with cleaning up his mess, she can not believe what she finds. Nor can she believe what is demanded of him by his mother. Paxton is to get married in six months, or he will be disowned.
Needless to say, Makayla makes an impression on Paxton; she doesn't back down, shy away, or turn away from him when he is acting like a child. In just the small amount of time they spend together, he ends up going back to her and asks her to be his fake fiance.
In the next six months, a lot of emotions and things happen between these two, but what I love the most, is they become friends. There are no big fights, no big mystery, or omg moments. It is just them finding each other and growing up as a couple. When they finally come to terms with that, they can eventually become real. Married in Michigan is a beautiful story that needs to be read!
This was an amazing book as always. This one reminded of Cinderella because Makayla is the hotel cleaner and happened to clean the penthouse suit where Paxton was staying.
Makayla is a force to be reckon with she funny and sassy. Paxton is a rich guy that likes to party. Until one day his mom gives him an ultimatum where he needs to get married in a few months.
Makayla struggles with the idea at first because she can’t marry a guy she hardly knows. she wants to be able to help her mom out. So she says yes, she goes into it thinking that she’s not going to fall for him.
I loved this story so much. It’s one of my favourites that Jasinda has written. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
A real life fairy tale! This story was so heart warming and I absolutely loved Pax.
Paxton is a rich playboy ...or is he? Makayla is a maid who has struggled since day one, she can't stand rich boys who have everything handed to them. However, things change when Paxton shows her who he really is. Enemies to lovers at its best!
This series is just amazing and I can't wait for more!
What a great book! A marriage of convenience turning into real love.
Makayla and Paxton are from 2 different socio-economic worlds but find themselves together. What starts as a way to get back at his mum, Paxton picks Makayla to marry. What happens is two people fall in love.
There is alot going on in this books and it makes great reading.
Jasinda has written another great page turning book!
Married in Michigan is a beautiful 4,5 Stars read, well written and beautifully thought out and beautifully told by J. Wilder. It's Paxton and Makayla's cinderella like story. I liked the storyline, the writing and the characters. 4,5 Stars.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "MARRIED IN MICHIGAN" OMG!!!! What a fabulous heartwarming, hilarious at times, sexy, romantic storyline you just can't put this book down. Paxton deBraun is a playboy always throwing expensive, wild, destructive parties he's the golden child of the weathy Billionaire deBraun family which holds all the power behind the politicians and he's the rising star in Washington DC but he needs an image clean up. Camilla deBraun mother to Paxton gets McKayla the maid in her hotel to go clean up the penthouse after her sons party his mother has arranged a fiance for Paxton to clean up his image. McKayla got to see a very naked Paxton when she came in he asked her to marry him he was going to do it on his own terms not his mother's this was such a delightful heartwarming read. I definitely recommend to get this book what a terrific series thus was one of my favorite story's I just loved the chemistry between McKayla and Paxton they were two half's of the same coin so meant to be be together so well worth the read it's a must for sure.
I've got to say that this book surprised me! It seemed like a far-fetched story, but the character development made it work! Paxton is arrogant, selfish, entitled, and hot as hell. Makayla is a very strong person in a tough situation. She's working 3 jobs so she can take care of her mother who has MS. Paxton has a terrible reputation as a play boy. His mother gives him an ultimatum to get married in 4 months or she will cut him off. He gets a wild hair and chooses Makayla. Every time I picked up this book I read more than I planned. It's that good. Makayla doesn't realize it, but she's gorgeous. At one point Paxtion says she's the most beautiful woman he's ever desired. (Or something to that effect.) This is a slow-burn romance with some steamy scenes. Romance readers are sure to love this and hopefully become fans of Jasinda Wilder along the way. (I am!!) This book moved me to tears and that takes some doing. Married in Michigan was fantastic! 5 stars
I was everywhere with this book. I cried so much it wasn't even funny. Paxton and Makayla were two halves to a whole. For some reason they brightened each others darkness and insecurities.
Married in Michigan is just the 3rd book in the 50 States of Love of Jasinda is going to have to come impossibly hard after this one. Chapter 22 alone put the standards above believable. Makayla and her love for her mother is unmatched well let me take that back because Paxton showed his rival love.
I have to stop here because I would give everything away but know this, everything regardless of how bad it is, is repairable. All it takes is listening and not controlling.
As soon as I finished the first chapter I knew I would love love live these characters! Makayla is such an amazing woman, hard working, intelligent, sassy..I love her so much. What she does daily for her mom def sealed the deal for me. I didn't have the highest opinion on Paxton..spoiled, arrogant and expecting everything to be handed to him.. def..but I saw another side to him the more I read and at the end I fell in love with him. Makayla and Paxton couldn't have been more different, yet they clicked and even the fake marriage couldn't hide that they were made for each other. Great story!! I am loving this series so so much!
Get ready to dive into a beautifully written love story Author Jasinda Wilder has created. Hotel maid Makayla Poe and Billionaire Paxton Debraun was one fun, sexy ride of a story to read. Had me smiling and swooning, a couple of tears the whole time reading. I enjoyed how their different worlds come together and how they both learn that the people they think they know are not what they thought. Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover; that is exactly what Makayla and Paxton learn in this book as well as finding love. Go pick up this awesome read and enjoy the fairytale coming to life when it comes to love. **ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review*** 5 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒popped!
Paxton and Makayla are such a fun unexpected coupling. From such opposite sides of life experiences and backgrounds these two have so much to learn from one another. Author Jasinda Wilder really knows how to draw the reader in with this page turning exciting read. She gives a hero that you kinda want to kick in his junk from his very first introduction then stop and think that just maybe he's savable and even likeable. This character is for sure a hate/ love character like no other I've read by this author before and not did he keep me on my toes!
I have so much to say about this book. I think it is my favorite of this series so far... I mean the first few sentences that start this book off ...remind me of my working days as a housekeeper ...folks don't think about what they go through...it is hard work, not a lot of pay and a lot of wild times. Maybe I didn't go through the hard times that this employee (character) go through ...but there were some fun times. Check it out. What a great, fun, hilarious read. I loved it!! So fun!! Beth ( ;
OMG! I absolutely love this book! McKayla and Paxton are amazing characters. I love their story. This is so far my favorite book in this series and all have been FIVE STARS. This one would be TEN STARS if possible. I laughed so hard a few times. Such an amazing and captivating story! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!
Loved this Story so much. Jasinda Wilder always writes Soulful, Romantic, Stunning Love Stories. Married in Michigan is a terrific, outstanding addition to this amazing series. I Cannot wait to read the other upcoming.
I Would like to Rate it 5 STARS and I Highly Recommend it to all Readers.
This romance live up to the rest of the series and will be enjoyed by those who loved the previous books. Michigan does deliver some sweet romance in the latest Fifty States of Love series.
I really wasn't sure about this one as it started out. I didn't like Paxton at all, too much the spoiled rich boy who thought he was better than everyone else. It didn't help when he approached Makayla with his proposition. The one thing I will say was that Paxton was 100% honest with Makayla about what he wanted and why and he never promised her everything, he was pretty realistic about what he expected and what Makayla would get out of it. Being that Makayla was a blunt person who didn't put up with anyone shit, much less Paxton, it made for some interesting talks between the two. I liked that both of them continued to be honest, it helped them build a relationship based on friendship. It also helped as their relationship changed. I loved how this one ended, loved that what started out as a farce became real for them both and that in that circus they still kept a part to themselves and who was important to themselves.
Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder is like a modern day fairytale with a real dose of reality that most readers can relate to. It also reminds me of the world’s favorite royal couple- Prince Harry and Princess Meghan. * Paxton deBraun is one of the most eligible bachelors in the US. He is known for his wild parties, philandering ways, and high profile antics. Although he is from an influential family, he relies on his own intelligence and business endeavors in his career. He is one of the youngest congressmen in the House of Representatives and has aspirations for a long political career. He needs to clean up his act to prove he has more brains than financial clout. He needs to prove he is more than qualified in his elected position. His controlling mother has issued an ultimatum, he must marry within three months or lose the family financial backing and political connections. Although he can thrive on his own financially he also sees the need to clean up his reputation. His only concession is that he picks his own bride rather than her finding one that has the right credentials. * Paxton chooses the maid from his mother’s exclusive hotel to become his bride. It will send his mother through the roof knowing he is marrying a bi-racial maid who is from the other side of the tracks. Paxton sees more than a beautiful woman from the wrong side of the tracks, he sees her integrity, intelligence, and diligence. Everything needed to be the perfect politician wife. He can offer her the world but she just wants a reprieve from her stressful life. * Paxton and Makayla find more than a beneficial business relationship. They find a beautiful friendship filled with respect and support. They also find themselves falling head over heels in love. * Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder is my favorite in the 50 States of Love series. I loved the cheesy fairytale/ billionaire romance along with doses of reality in today’s modern world. I loved how this book was a slow build up through dialogue, clever banter, and world building rather than fueled by the red hot sex scenes as a way of propelling the romance. * I highly recommend Married In Michigan by Jasinda Wilder. It was a pure reading delight.
Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews
A sweet and heart warming romance.
I’m a huge fan of this author and I’ve enjoyed all the previous books in this series so when I read the blurb for this, I couldn’t wait to read it.
Makayla has always worked hard and has 3 jobs so she can afford to take care of herself and her mother. Working as a housekeeper at one of Camilla Debraun’s hotels I a big enough challenge but when she’s asked to clean up the penthouse where the owners son threw a party the night before, she’s faced with the biggest challenge of her life.
Paxton Debraun may come from an influential family but he also has his own wealth and is making a name for himself in the political scene of DC. He has a reputation as a playboy but what the media reports doesn’t truly represent him as a person. When his mother tells him she’s arranged a wedding, including a fiancée to help clean up his image and assist with his political aspirations, Paxton refuses until she threatens to cut him off. Not wanting his mother to continue dictating his life, Paxton decides to get a fiancée on his own terms and asks the gorgeous maid who had the unfortunate job of cleaning up his hotel room.
As Paxton and Makayla get closer to their wedding day it becomes clear that the lines between their business agreement and their personal feelings have blurred. Will the maid and the billionaire go their separate ways once they say I do or has the fantasy become a reality for the modern day Cinderella and her prince?
I really enjoyed this story. Makayla and Paxton were adorable together and her love and dedication to her mother was heart warming. This story is full of emotion and I highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
This book is part of a series of standalones - each in a different state. None of them are connected so you can read them without reading any of the others. Married in Michigan features a hotel maid, Makayla, and billionaire Paxton. His mother owns the hotel where she works. Their meet cute is pretty funny.
So Paxton is given an ultimatum by his mother to get married in 3 months or he's cut off. He in turn asks Makayla to marry him as a business arrangement. He's crazy of course. Right?
He has it perfectly planned out as a f-u to his family but it turns out the two are perfect for each other. I think you'll enjoy reading how their story unveils. Makayla gives as good as she gets. I love it when a heroine goes head to head with the Hero .
I am completely loving this Fifty States of Love series. Here we visit Michigan and fall in love! I thought this one read a bit more fanciful than the others. I love the idea of a Cinderella type of a story and that’s what we get here with Paxton and Makayla. The storyline was quick and sweet. It had Jasinda Wilder’s signature heat and chemistry levels. Just like other Wilder books, I couldn’t read this one quickly enough. I can’t wait for more!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
Yet again, another fantastic read from the amazing Jasinder Wilder. Married in Michigan, the third book in her fifty state series was phenomenal, and definitely my favourite book so far.
Paxton DeBraun is a man whos thought to be your average spoiled rich kid, total player, while Makayla is the average girl, struggling to make ends meet. The storyline was one that pulled at the heartstrings, as well as being incredibly well written.
I loved reading it, the unusuality of the storyline really drew me in, made me not want to put the book down. I read it in three hours it was that good. I genuinely think that Jasinda has the chance to continue these books and make into a series, rather than just standalones.
10/10 would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance, with a twist of scheming against a parent.
That's some Cinderella tale!! It had barely anything to do with Michigan..... seriously. It may as well been a maid at a hotel in Washington DC. So in that regards, I'm disappointed.
The story behind hilariously in the penthouse where a wild party is basically still going on....and there are so many surprises for this poor maid.
The disparages of difference between Paxton and the maid in wealth and education is the next 3/4 of the book. The author does throw a bunch of wealthy car and designer names to which I googled...and this furthered my education on how poor I am....and how truly wealthy Paxton was. Why was this important to the story?
I went back and forth on my rating for this book...this is one of my favorite authors and I was a little disappointed with this book!! I just didn’t feel the connection between these two characters in the beginning of this book. It does get better as the book goes on...but I just didn’t “feel” it!! Which made me very sad. Loved the premise...and when they do come together...it’s HOT...but overall I just felt that this book could have had more...it won’t stop me from reading future books though:)
This a hot mess that has a little something for everyone: arrogance; condescension; racism; betrayal and revenge. I understand that Paxton was sick of his overbearing mother running his life. But didn't he do the same exact thing to Makayla? Poor Makayla is working THREE jobs to pay for her terminally ill mother's medical bills. And unfortunately, one of those jobs is for Paxton's snooty mother. To add insult to injury, Pax's grand scheme to get revenge against his mother, turns Makayla's life upside down!
