Cast Iron Alibi is the 9th book in the Vintage Kitchen Mystery series written by Victoria Hamilton. It will be released on 11/5 and focuses on Jaymie's all-girls-trip with her college pals. Clearly, shenanigans were going to ensue, and I was on board with all of them. What a fun book...

For those unfamiliar with the series, it focuses on amateur sleuth, Jaymie, who's married with a young daughter and lives on the Canadian / US border. She collects vintage kitchen tools, writes a colum

Superspeed readers like me can read 150 - 200+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today. LOL

I received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.

I am new to this series and after reading, I won’t be reading from the beginning.

I wanted to love this cozy however, I could not connect nor did I like the main character and her friends. The story was ok for a quick read. I love cozy mysteries but this was not one that I enjoyed.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for an advanced copy.

If you are a cozy mystery fan, there’s really not much to dislike about Cast Iron Alibi! Author Victoria Hamilton skillfully crafts a cozy filled with humor, eclectic characters, secrets, rivalries and, of course, homicide.

Vintage kitchenware collector and columnist Jayme decides to host a college class reunion while her husband and step-daughter are in Europe. The reunion quickly turns ruinous however, when unexpected guests arrive and tensions rise and rivalries escalate. When a local handyma

I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the series. In fact, I’ve enjoyed the whole series. It has been fun watching Jaymie grow and mature, find out who she is, find love and marriage and even embrace motherhood. The mysteries are always interesting, complicated enough to keep you interested, and convoluted enough to keep you guessing.

Jaymie Leighton Muller has grown so much over the years and now she's a wife and mother. Though her life has changed, one thing hasn't - her "talent" for solving murders. When a "girls week" vacation bring college friends together, things go terribly wrong when a murder occurs.

I enjoyed the book and it's portrayal of the changes friends go through over time. The author writes about very "real" emotions and situations in the book - some good and some tragic - but always offers hope. T

Jaymie plays host to several college girlfriends for a vacation-reunion. As expected, murder tags along. Jaymie enlists current girlfriends to help investigate and finds her college mates a little different, in some ways, than she remembers.

The 9th entry in the Vintage Kitchen Mysteries is an excellent example of Victoria Hamilton’s skill as she inserts the reader right in the middle of the story. Ms. Hamilton paints a very believable experience of getting together with old friends u

This is the ninth book in the Vintage Kitchen Mystery by Victoria Hamilton.

This book had the perfect recipe for murder. A group of college friends meet to go over old times but there is someone in the group who is there for another reason. And that rationale turns into murder. This was just so good! I felt such a kinship to Jaymie and wanted to dive deep into the entire setting and characters.

Cast Iron Alibi by Victoria Hamilton is the 9th book in A Vintage Kitchen Mystery series, and another great addition. Ms. Hamilton does it again! Jaymie is attending a girls-only college reunion vacation. With last minute change of plans, Jaymie hosts the reunion at her family's cabin. This vacation if full of petty fights and even murder! I loved this book and this whole series, and can't wait for the next book in the series. As always the series is best when it is read in order, but this book ...more

This is the ninth book in the “A Vintage Kitchen” series, but it’s the first one I read. There’s a cast of characters list at the beginning that provided enough detail to let you know who’s who so it can be read as a stand-alone. It’s set in upper Michigan on an island that requires a ferry to get to. The small town that is on the mainland is where the main character lives but she has a cabin on the island for vacations.

Cast Iron Alibi is the ninth in the series. I have not read all of them. This can be read as a standalone story. There is a list of characters at the beginning listing the major characters with a brief description. Also provided is a list of characters specifically in this story.

The story takes place in upstate Michigan and the surrounding area. I liked experiencing a small traveling vacation between Canada and Michigan. It reminded me of upstate New York and the proximity to Niagra

Princess Fuzzypants here: I have enjoyed this series from the very beginning. Jaymie is a delightful character who is surrounded by great family and friends. Having this stories set in my neck of the woods adds to my pleasure as I know so many of the places she describes. In fact, the friendship that is at the heart of the story started at the university that is very close to my home. It is the friendship that leads to some testy situations with murder topping the list.

Cast Iron Alibi by Victoria Hamilton is the newest in the Vintage Kitchen Mystery Series in which Jaymie is married to Christmas tree farmer and junk store owner Jakob, and is stepmom to his daughter, Jocie, who is a little person and the job of Jaymie's life. Victoria Hamilton's books always make me happy. It is like visiting with old friends which is what Jaymie is doing in Cast Iron Alibi, the newest in the Vintage Kitchen series.

Hamilton has done it again. She knocked it out of the cozy mystery genre with Cast Iron Alibi. First, the cover is divine. This was a pretty dark “cozy mystery” IMO. The characters were well-written, though, and their relationships and fighting were complex, although at times it got a little old. The book did keep me guessing pretty far in but still wrapped up nicely. One odd thing was the focus on the ages of the characters and how they related to each other - it was distracting because I couldn’t figure out how a few years difference matters to thirty-something adults.
