In his mind, Grace must have significant flaws to be a spinster, and something must be done about them. To her mortification, he demands she be fully examined and all her flaws recorded. Loved this one! So glad Grace got her story. Super fun that it was roughly based on My Fair Lady! My gosh, I loved Aubrey! He was a great leading man. I love that each of her books has these amazing scenes that have so much chemistry and tension. There is a footsie scene that was so much fun, the under the door scene in Hook and Rook, the scene in the last spinster book where Prue escapes to the other room and they have an amazing kiss, after staring each other down. I love, and wait for these s ...more

I love to read books with fantastic banter! Rebecca Connolly never disappoints, she is a Queen of banter.

Grace Morledge is unmarried. It is a flaw that her father cannot overlook. He comes up with a scheme to determine why she has not entered the state of matrimony. The only way to figure it out is to have someone examine her for flaws.

Lord Ingram, a childhood friend, is given the unfortunate task. It is not something that he wants to do because he knows that it will be

I loved, loved, loved this book! Grace Morledge is a spinster, and part of the group of Spinsters (with a capitol S) who write a news sheet called The Chronicle. She loves her friends and finds great fulfillment in their writing, and their friendship, but every few weeks she receives a scathing letter from her father belittling her single status. Things change when her father returns to England and comes up with the idiotic and offensive plan of having someone observe Grace to find out what faul ...more

Another fun installment of the Spinster Chronicles! I love how the author shows the variety of personalities of the different young ladies and their relationships with each other through the dialogue and banter they share. The books don't have to be read in order, but readers will definitely want to get to all of them at some point because the friendships they share make the characters from the previous books more than just a cameo appearance, but rather a strong supporting cast. I've been exci ...more

First of all five stars for the titles of all the books in this series. So much fun. Also, I enjoy spinster stories so that is another plus for this series.

The spinster story illustrates some of the difficulties in being a single female during this time period. It is all very unfair and in this particular story very frustrating as an absentee husband and father gets to come floating in and spout abusive sentiments and neither his wife nor daughter can really do anything abo

I have enjoyed all the Spinster Chronicles, and this was no exception. I enjoy the supportive group of friends with such varied personalities, and the addition of their spouses as the series continues. One of the aspects that stands out in this series for me is how the author illustrates different cultural aspects of being older and single, and the idea of "you must be broken because you are single even though you seem wonderful" is one of the most prevalent and difficult culturally. I appreciat ...more

Another sweet, fun spinster book! Grace was never a big character in the earlier books so I was excited to hear her story. Loved Aubrey and their journey.

I wanted to like this book but there was too much emphasis on the heroine and her “perfection.” Every character was very superficial. There was no depth or meaningful history behind any of them. Very little sub plot - Grace is perfect, except in the eyes of her father. Perfect Perfect Perfect. Ugh. Enough.

Rating stars : 2 Stars- Got through the book, barely. Frustrated at times.

Actual Stars: 1.5

I did not want to give a review because I did not like it. Rebecca Conolly is one of my favorite authors and I'm mad at how much I disliked it. However, I did receive this book for free, and ahead of time, in exchange for an honest review, however honest it might be. I'm not great at tact or softening some of my opinions, so I'll try to do this the nicest I can.

Oh, Grace. You have serious Daddy issues, don't you?

Grace Morledge is a stunning beauty -- but one that has only been appreciated from afar. She hasn't ever even had one suitor, even after enjoying multiple seasons as a beautiful, accomplished, wealthy miss. She cringes when called "perfect" because her father spends pretty much every millisecond in any communication with Grace letting her know that she has failed herself, him, her entire family - probably the whole of humanity - by

Beware: Contains swoon worthy characters! Sigh.

Another fantastic addition to the Spinster Chronicles Series. Already, I am eagerly awaiting the next book! Connolly’s characters are always so well developed. The thoughts & feelings are never overly dramatic or unbelievable in my opinion. It’s just like interacting with real friends. Each time you get to know them that little bit better. I’ve really enjoyed this story & can highly recommend it.

What do you do when you have a parent who is bound and determined to find out your flaws and fix you no matter what. Grace is a beautiful and lovely young woman who has not yet been married. And in her father's eyes, that is just unacceptable. So instead of thinking that the young men are just foolish, it must be Grace's fault instead. So her father sets up quite a shocking scheme to have her "examined". And when I say shocking, I find this scheme shocking even by today's standards.

4.5 Stars.
This was another great read, I will admit that Grace's story was probably the one I was least looking forward to for the series, just because most of the others sounded a little more intriguing to me. And even though by all accounts, knowing myself, I should have hated the set up for this one, Rebecca Connolly pulled it off in the loveliest way, and I had a lot of fun reading this. This couple had great chemistry, they were both very passionate characters and they had a great con

Of all the Spinster books, this one is my favorite. I enjoyed reading about the friendship that developed between Grace and Aubrey and the banter they would have back and forth with each other. My favorite quote in the book is, “Easier? Oh, hell no.” When I read this, I laughed out loud! I cannot remember the last time that I actually laughed out loud while reading. I do have to admit, that towards the end of the book, I was tired of the prolonging of Grace and Aubrey not just admitting to each ...more

I have read the first book in this series, but not the 2nd and 3rd. The beginning of the book was hard to get through, trying to piece everyone and everything together without much background. I was lost for a while. After trudging through the beginning and then slowly figuring out who belonged to who I really enjoyed this story. Grace and Aubrey were fun characters to get to know and learn who they are. I loved watching them be able to be themselves, at a time that this was rare. I enjoyed the ...more

Another great book by Rebecca Connolly! It was so fun to see Grace's story-the dry humor between her and Aubrey is perfect. And in an attempt to not give anything away, let me just say "Strawberries" and then sigh as I read it again. My only thought was that the middle slightly slowed down a little too much-everything is still happening, but I felt like maybe it needed a little pick me up besides Grace being berated. But, seriously, I'm not a writer and maybe she had other scenes in there that p ...more

Clean read but long

I’ve been reading the spinster chronicles and find most of them fun and well written.
However this one, although an interesting concept was a bit drawn out. And I felt the hero was lacking a bit.
Too much repetitive thoughts being re-hashed. And the fact that the hero never could stand up even a little to her father seemed crazy.
When he knew one of the reasons she was a spinster, due to her father, he never told him???? But when her father found out about the spinsters h

My Fair Spinster is the fourth book in The Spinster Chronicles. A sweet and charming Regency romance that will tug on your heart strings a bit.

Grace is insulted when her father suggests that she must have some sort of fault in her that is getting in the way of her finding a husband. And even more so when she finds out he hired a childhood friend, Aubrey Flint – Lord Ingram, to find and list her faults.

Plenty of banter, wit, and a few swoony moments in this one. So really, what’s not to love. T

Another great book by Rebecca Connolly! Another thoroughly enjoyable story that kept me completely engaged from beginning to end. It was fun to be in touch again with characters from other books in this series. Such great humor, loveable main characters and believable growth and change in them over time. So easy to feel just what the characters are feeling. It's so great to know that I can pick up a Rebecca Connolly book and be thoroughly entertained without having to worry that there will be an ...more

Grace Morledge is a disappointment to her father. You’ll have to read the book to uncover the why. I love a book that can have me feeling all different kinds of emotions. I’m upset with her father, grateful for a protective support group, and encouraged by her relationship with her mother. It’s a fun love story. As book four in the series it follows the pattern of the other three. A friendship that develops into something more that the couple tries to fight. Love is acknowledged and expressed to ...more

I loved this book! I loved the banter between the main characters and I loved how they discovered what being "perfect" really means. I have loved all of Rebecca Connolly's books that I have read so far and this is another success! This is the fourth book in her Spinster Chronicles series and I can't wait to read her other books in the series. Love this author and highly recommend any of her books.

Much better than the previous two novels, "My Fair Spinster" manages to recapture some of the charm and sparkle of the first book. Grace comes across more sympathetically than the unfortunate Prue and Izzy did in their novels - even though I continue to like them as secondary characters.

Aubrey is likeable despite the ridiculous role he is required to assume for plot purposes. I am looking forward to book 5 in the hopes that it's of the better variety like books 1 and 4 rather than the disappoin

Love it, love it, love it.

Connolly doesn’t disappoint. With, humour, a delightful unfolding of a relationship and a group of friends you’d love to be part of. No need for melodramas, excess of sensibility, or gothic mystery. Just wonderful characters, believable dialogue, a great sense of time and place. All wrapped up in great writing.

Doesn't work well as a stand-alone at the beginning. There are vague comments about events and people––"so sorry to hear about..."––but nothing is explained.

A 26yo was not considered a spinster. It was within the average age of brides at the time.
The witty banter was anachronistic and most of the characters seem to have the same voice.

Amazing book

Another great book by Rebecca Connolly. I loved the characters of Grace and Aubrey. So endearing. Grace’s Dad is nasty which sets the right backdrop for the story. I love this series and can’t wait for book 5!
