Rayne and Julia’s book is long awaited and worth every second of the nail biting . Excellent series addition.

Rayne has always had problems with his control, of his need for Julia more than anything, to him she’s perfect ,a pure diamond, something he can only dream of and aspire to be part of her life .
His other problem is he will never be the person she deserves, his needs are dark , his heart is not capable of love and he has nothing to offer her.

Julia just wants him , no if , no buts , no

I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. Ms. LaCapra's writing is compelling, vibrant, and infused with heart-jerking tender moments. I was hooked the instance I met Rayne. He is such a compelling guy, tortured by the way he had treated Julia in the past and hungry to atone while shying from the constant desire he had for her. Rayne had complex layers and beguiling depth to his character, and Julia was the same with her strengths, vulnerabilities, and the love she still possessed for our ...more

This was my first book by this author. I haven't read the first two books in the series, but I did buy them. If I find a lot of their beginning story is found in either of those books I will add a note here. This book can be read as a standalone but I do feel like it would be better reading this in order. The characters from the previous books know or are related to these main characters and there is plenty of history going on that you don't get the full information for reading

Diamond in the Rogue is book 3 in the Lords of Chance series by Wendy LaCapra. I have truly enjoyed each book in this series. They are not stand alones. You must read each one in order, because they are all connected. Each story is based on a different member of the rakish quartet of friends - Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts. This book is about The Earl of Rayne - Diamonds. He and Julia’s story actually begin in book 2. After a misstep, Rayne flees for two years to America. This story picks ...more

"He wanted to kiss her again, more than a starving man wanted food. He wanted to stoke all his latent cravings, be consumed by them, and then be remade into something new that was hers and hers alone. For the first time since he'd returned, he sensed a home." But Lord Rayne knew he was not good enought for Lady Julia, a true diamond and it could not control himself around her for long

It has been two years since Lady Julia has seen Lord Rayne...and the chemistry and passion she feels for him is still there. A friend talks her into a wild adventure where she poses as a servant and kidnaps Rayne so that she can discover how he really feels about her. This steamy romance novel is part of The Lords of Chance series, and although it sort of works as a stand alone, my gut tells me it is better read as part of the series. There are many layers to both Julia and Rayne - much of which ...more

This novel continues with Lord Rayne and Lady Julia, whom have not seen each other in two years after their kiss. Rayne was seeking revenge and used Julia to do it, but Julia wanted Rayne and even declared her love. Julia and Rayne’s feelings for each other strengthened without them realizing it, for when they see each other again, sparks fly but Julia was hurt deeply. With some interference from a mutual friend, they find themselves traveling together towards the Scottish border. The ...more

This was an enthralling read. Julia was certainly up for a challenge and was determined to for Rayne to come to terms with his feelings. Rayne was a complex character, he had been quite the rogue but he was also lost soul. He felt he was distant from his friends and didn’t know how to bridge the gap. Rayne had always liked Julia but felt he wasn’t good enough. This was a good paced, entertaining read. It will be good to read of his friend Farring in the next book. I received a copy and have ...more

Ooooh I loved this one! Lord Rayne had malicious intent when he first kisses Lady Julia. Their chemistry was palpable - even back in the staid period they were in. The complex path to their romance was such a fun one. I loved all the supporting characters and the non-traditional path they helped them find on their way to true love. This was my first read from this author but it definitely won't be my last.

I received an arc of this book.

I just love Wendy LaCapra's work, she is a fine storyteller with a lovely style. She creates very believable characters that carry the story along nicely.

This series 'Lords of Chance' follows a group of friends, each nicknamed after a suit of cards. This is the third book in the series and is every bit as good as the first two - "Scandal in Spades" and "Heart's Desire".
To fully enjoy the plot of this book I recommend reading the series in order.

The 'hero' Rayne (Diamonds) has many emotional

I was so very excited to read this book for a couple of reasons; first- the author herself asked me to read and review this book (yes I totally fan girled over that), second- I really enjoyed the previous book in the series and couldn’t wait to see what the author had instore for this next book, and third- once I discovered this was Rayne and Julia’s story I was beyond stoked. After meeting these two characters in the last book and the hints about what broke up a long time group of best friends ...more

I enjoyed myself in the world of the Lords of Chance series. I do feel that this is a series which should be (if at all possible) read in order – and I dropped into this series with the third full-length story of Julia and Rayne. I wasn’t lost, I simply would have felt more comfortable in this world, and perhaps understood some nuances, some relationships better if I had started from the very beginning. I will definitely be catching up on the series, so that alone

This book was ok but really hard for me to rate because I haven’t read the the first two books in the “Lords of chance” series. You kind of have to have read them in order to follow the premise of this story and understand the redemption of Lord Raine and his feelings for Lady Julia.

Lord Raine kissed Lady Julia and thereafter humiliated her and her family. After this he fled to America. After two years in America he returns to see his sister get married to one of his former best friends who is

This is the third book in the Lords of Chance series by Wendy LaCapra. There were things going on from the previous books that I didn't understand at first, so I'll probably go back and read those books.

However, Rayne’s friend Brompton insists that he leaves before he ruins Julia. Yet Julia declares to her sister and brother and their partners, that she loves Rayne. When I received this arc I had never read any of Wendy LaCapra's work. I, often times, like to read a series in order so I started with book 1. Well, I was hooked. Then I read book 2 and I was hooked, line & sinker. I couldn't wait to read book 3 and dived right in. I needed to know what would happen with Rayne and Julia. You know of their background right from book 1.
Rayne, oh how I loved him. He did wrong and left the country to put space between himself and those he hurt and was hurt by.

Wonderful story of love and redemption!

Rayne has been gone for two years, and Julia refuses to pine for him. But when he returns for the wedding of his sister to her brother, one look proves that the spark is still there, despite everyone's better judgment. Rayne knows he's not good enough for her, but Julia doesn't let that get in her way.

I loved Julia's determination and inner strength that allowed her to stand up to Rayne despite his mountain of regrets and insecurities. There's a slight

Oh my goodness! What to say? Yet again another of Wendy LaCapra's spellbinding, emotion-filled and gloriously laid out stories. I just want to keep using exclamation marks!!

This is the third in the Lords of Chance series, each book based on one of the Earl's rakish friends - Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts. Diamond in the Rogue by Wendy LaCapra is book Three in the Lords of Chance Series. This is the story of Graham Laithe, Earl of Rayne and Julia Stanley. I have read the previous books which added to my enjoyment of this book so I do think it helps if you read the previous books. The incident between Graham and Julia did happen in book 2 the 'Heart's Desire' but with that said you could make do with this as a standalone.

This book was an enjoyable romance between two headstrong characters, with one willing to stow away on the back of a carriage to win over the man she loves. The chemistry between the main characters was electric and sensual. I thought the climax fell a little flat after everything that the characters went through and I thought it was resolved too quickly. The book works as a stand-alone novel for the most part but there were a few places where I thought I was missing something since I hadn’t ...more

This is book 3 in the Lords of Chance series. I've read book 2 (Hearts, Lord Markham) and the Novella about Mrs Sartin. A lot of the action relates back to past. In this book 'Diamonds', Lord Rayne grabbed a kiss from our very young heroine and was sent to America. Julia didn't really understand why he was ostracised and has continued to love him. The Book is a bit of a road trip as 'Clubs' orchestrates our couple's reunion and hopefully Happy ever after. This book didn't grab me as
