Bringing readers a widower, single dad and former-marine and a lady visiting town looking at laying some ghosts to rest, Clare Connelly kicks off what I’m hopeful will be an enjoyable series.

description “I know she’s just like me in all the ways that matter, that she makes whatever’s broken inside of me feel shiny and new again.”

The title is reaching a bit as there’s zero firefighter vibe here aside of a couple of fleeting mentions, but with a lovely small town atmosphere, likeable

CHRISTMAS WITH THE FIREFIGHTER is an emotional opening story to the Cape Hope series, and I’ll definitely be following this series. Yet, in order to give a frank review without major spoilers, I do need to say that Ally triggered one of my annoyance reactions quite strongly and that shaded how I saw her throughout this story, It’s in the Cover Description so it’s not a spoiler but I will immediately react to someone who is lying throughout falling in love with not

First, I just have to address the title of this book. Once, maybe twice, it is mentioned in passing that the hero of this story, Luke, is a volunteer firefighter. It does not, in any way, play into this story. I get that the title of many books isn’t going to straight out tell the reader what it’s about. But I can’t help but be annoyed when the title straight out tells me the story is about Christmas with a firefighter and it’s really not.

That being said, there are a lot of good things about

This is a beautifully written romance, a story of finding love when you least expect it, Luke Miller is a single dad to his six year old daughter Stella and Ally Munroe is trying to find her dad who left her years before, fate brings them together in the seaside town of Cape Hope but true love doesn’t always run smoothly.

It has been twenty years since Ally last saw her father and with the passing of her mother and with Christmas just around the corner, Ally feels it is time to see if she can

Christmas with the Firefighter is the first book in the Cape Hope Series which I believe will be a great series to binge. Christmas with the Firefighter is emotionally charged and while the story takes place over the Christmas holidays, there is much more to it. Both the hero and heroine are dealing with some emotional baggage.

Single father and widower, Luke Miller is an upstanding guy. He is ex military and currently a firefighter and handyman. He is doing his best to raise his young daughter.

Against the backdrop of a small town setting, “Christmas with the Firefighter”, by Clare Connelly (Tule Publishing), is an engaging story, with lovely characters, about second chances and forgiveness.
The couple’s instant attraction is balanced by fears and wariness both feel for different reasons and the romance is much more interesting because of these inner barriers each of them keep putting up. The relationship grows steadily under

A sweet heart warming romance. I found the story to be just an okay read and was let down with the storyline. It's an instant kind of connection/love that seemed more one sided when Ally doesn't come clean about her lies as soon as she starts the relationship with Luke and his daughter. Especially when he reveals his personal feelings and thoughts. I understand she has trust and abandonment issues. At times I felt she was wishy washy. The title also doesn't fit the story. It had nothing to do ...more

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. This was a terrific book. There were a few spots that really got me choked up - when Ally confronts her father, when Luke tells her he doesn’t love her, when she realizes how alone she is. Then other points made me cheer and feel so happy for the characters. Both Ally and Luke had their share of sadness and brought emotional issues to their relationship. It was rewarding to see them overcome their problems during the storyline.

The book was

This is my latest read of Clare Connelly's and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A sweet romance set in a small town. I really liked the main characters; Ally (Amy) who is searching for her long lost dad, Luke our firefighter who is also the town handyman and single dad to Stella who is just delightful.

Ally has trust issues, which is understandable due to her dad leaving when she was a kid, but her trust issues cause problems with Luke when he discovers she's been keeping things from him. She changes her

This is such a heartfelt Christmas story. Filled with hope and forgiveness, that connection you get in small communities and people you can care about so easily, this story embodies all that is good about Christmas.
Ally Monroe, heroine of the story, has grown up with huge trust issues after her alcoholic father walked out on her and her mother when Ally was just six years old. Since then she’s avoided getting involved so as to save herself from getting hurt. The last thing she expects on

I quite enjoyed this book. It was a super sweet romance about finding yourself and learning to fall in love again and take chances. I'm giving it 3.5 stars though as a couple things didn't sit right with me and I found the ending a bit rushed.
Firstly the title doesn't suit this book at all; Luke is a volunteer firefighter but its just a passing thought and doesn't impact the story at all (I'm aware that the author had a struggle

Ally's father left her when she was so young. She often wondered what she had done that made him leave her. She knew that he had a drinking problem and that her Mom and him fought all the time. But she thought his leaving had something to do with her. Now her Mom died suddenly and she finds herself all alone. She decides she is going to take off to Cape Hope to find him. Once she gets there she tells several people that her name is Amy not Ally. She doesn't want anyone to mention her name and ...more

Christmas with the Firefighter by Clare Connelly is not a firefighter story but is a story of two daughters and their relationship with their fathers. It closely examines these relationships along with the loss of opportunities and people loved. It is a reminder of the damage that unforgiveness can bring to others but also the hope of new love and second chances. These are weighty subjects o what is so amazing it that it does all of this in an entertaining manner with extremely likable ...more

This is a new author for me and if this is any indication of her work it won't be my last read of her This is a sweet love story about family and redemption

Ally Monroe doesn't get involved with anyone she was devastated when her alcoholic father walked out on her mother and her when she was six and made the decision that is she didn't let anyone get close then she couldn't get hurt. This is the first book in the series and I am really looking forward to reading the next one. The first book is about Ally and Luke. Ally is such a sweet person. She has been so hurt in her past by her dad leaving when she was 6 years old. She never heard from him again. Her mom died 6 months ago and she feels so alone that she decides to find her dad. Luke is raising his daughter alone because his wife died during child birth. He feels like half the time he does not know what he is doing. Ally ...more

The story of Ally/Amy and Luke is a touching , and at times heartbreaking one.

Little did she know that that search would bring her to Luke , a widower, and his six year old daughter Stella.
Ally is keeping secrets about her past and her name, while Luke is willing to open his heart once again.
What happens when the lies are revealed, and the trust is lost? Will forgiveness , hope and love

Every character is so real and their emotional journeys are perfectly realised. Grief, hope, anger, sadness, love, desire - it had all the feels!

There she unexpectedly meets Luke and his daughter Stella in an adorable "meet cute". You can't help but love Luke's character. Ally doesn't have time to get distracted my a handsome single dad, she has an agenda. Although that is exactly what happens. The way that Luke and Stella let Ally into their lives is touching. This book needs a better title or author Clare Connelly needed to tell us more about Luke's volunteer firefighting. Just saying I kinda spend some time looking for the firefighter angle in the book and that is the reason for the 4 star not 5. This book is more of an emotional romance. It is good (other than the title bit). Ally comes to Cape Hope in search for a missing father. Single dad Luke and his daughter Stella happen to met her and life takes a funny turn so to speak. The story of Ally and Luke.

She is only in town breifly, looking for the father she hasn't seen in years. She doesn't want him to know she is in town until she is ready, so giving a fake name to the people she meets seems harmless enough. But then she meets Luke and his daughter Stella. She still doesn't tell him her real name, even when they get together and he shares all his secrets, so what will happen when he finds out the truth?

A great chrsitmas read. Looking forward to the rest of this

I really enjoyed reading this heartfelt storyline about Christmas.Loved the title ,one reason why I picked this title in the first place, I was looking forward to reading more about Luke's job there.I Instantly loved little Stella's little personality right off the bat ,Ally was a little harder to get close to become of her omission even if it was for a good reason.Loved the quirky town of Cape Hope, can't wait to come back and revisit in book 2.

Clare Connelly starts her Cape Hope series with book one, Christmas with the Firefighter. I was excited to read the first in a new series based in a small seaside town. Christmas with the Firefighter gives us Ally, Luke, and Stella's story. Ally has ventured to Cape Hope looking for her absentee father and meets Luke and his daughter, Stella.

After reading Christmas with the Firefighter, CC has me ready for more Cape Hope stories.

Ally was searching for the father who had deserted her and her Mom when she was a little girl, so she used a fake name so he wouldn’t hear she was in the area. It alls seemed so innocent using the fake name with people who would only see her for a day or two, but oh what a mess it was when she fell in love with one of the men she lied to.
Really a very interesting read.

Clare really knows how to get right into your heart with her stories, this one is no exception. I love the small town setting. Ally and Luke are both on a journey when their paths unexpectedly cross. The characters are strong as are the issues the Clare brings to the pages. I found I couldn't put the book down and I rode each wave of emotion, right to the very last sentence.
