Dragon Next Door

Rate this book
A dragon hiding among humans just found the one woman he can't resist...

As a dragon on the run from others of his kind, Tristan has only one rule: don't get involved. But when he spots Kelsie Lawton, in way over her head with a couple of street thugs, there's no way he can walk away. Especially when the dragon in him, buried and smothered for a lifetime, insists he's found his mate.

Kelsie doesn't know what to make of the tall, gorgeous man who insists on protecting her as she looks for street art in his area. She doesn't understand why he hides in a luxurious apartment hidden in a renovated warehouse, or why he's stronger than anyone she's ever met. She just knows that his kisses are everything, and that his vivid blue eyes make her melt. And that she's not sure she can ever live without him.

As Tristan and Kelsie steam up showers, defile couches, debate fake beard usefulness, and search for rare art, danger is closing in. If Tristan wants to keep his new love, he'll have to finally step into the light and let his dragon roar.

Warning: contains a hero who has never wanted another woman, a heroine with no sense of danger, and a scene where a dragon does naughty things with whipped cream and chocolate. For lovers of fluffy, fun, insta-mate romance!

Girl finds trouble in a dark alley and is saved by a dragon with a secret...

This shifter novel was so unique in its dragon lore and rules. The "double dragons", dragon hearts, and Oracle were all aspects I've yet to encounter in other novels, and it was a nice change in pace. I do have to say the ending conflict ended a little too easily for my taste, especially Xander just walking off with the others like they're best friends. Overall it was a unique spin on the shifter tale with great characters who were simply looking for acceptance and peace.

Wasn't too bad. The writing was good, albeit a bit cheesy at times, and I wish it was 1st person POV. It started decent but I was just bored most of the time, even for how short it was, so I probably won't be continuing the series.

He’s the Dragon 🐉 next door💕

Kelsie is searching for a particular artwork that is done in odd places by an artist who is unseen and she assumes the artist wants to remain anonymous, when she stumbles upon a father and son being beaten by three thugs. Not willing to step away and allow this to become someone else’s problem...she steps up. But in doing so, soon realises she needs her own rescuer. This comes in the form of a tall man, with sunglasses and a voice that sends shivers up and down her spine - in a good way! Fate has her own plan for them and intercedes again💕

Loved this story of Tristan and Kelsie and I’m looking forward to Xander’s next❣️I received an advanced copy for which I willingly leave my honest review.

Terry Bolryder is one of my most favorite authors. Once you start a book she wrote you can't put it down. Would I like for them to be longer? Of course. But her stories are so good that I'll wait for the next one while going back and re-reading the old ones.

Heather's Notes
I didn't like this story as much as I wanted to. It wasn't a bad story, it just sort of fell flat for me. I wasn't really invested and I don't think it was entirely because it was short. While Tristan and Kelsie had good chemistry, I didn't really feel the heat. The plot was not really convincing either. It feels like it might be a spinoff so maybe if I had read the original series first it might have worked better. Overall not a bad story just not a memorable one.

Spoilers:
First let me say this was a great book. More than great really...but it needs a good edit. The author mixed up the brothers names in multiple spots which was bad. like when they weren't even in the scene she used their name. Once I might have been okay with but when it was the fourth one it got irritating.

Two red dragon twins who hide from the world... Tristen was an artist. Being Astray (the artist) led to him finding Kelsie out searching for his art. He finds her in an alley trying to save a man and his son from some assholes. He handles the bad guys before letting her go only to find her days later in the same area looking for more of his art for her photography. They hook up and everything seems great until the other dragons show up...

The author needs to work on her timing because the ending were she gets her powers and Xander becomes friends with the other two dragons all happens way too fast. Although they thought other dragons would hate them they don't. Turns out their parents were just assholes. The part were the rescue Kelsie from the other dragons was kinda funny. I liked how they were shocked by Tristen and Xander's size. I think this scene could have used a bit of fleshing out but over all I enjoyed the book and will be reading the next one

So for me this was a SEPE or a 4 star read.

This is the start of another great story by this very talented author This is Tristan’s story he is a red dragon but what is unusual is that he is also a twin with Xander this is highly unusual in the dragon world meaning they can never form a triad like other dragons

When Tristan comes to the aid of Kelsey a human woman who has stepped in to help a father and son been attacked, he has no idea what he has started Kelsey is wandering around the disreputable areas of the town as she has realised that Astray a street artist who hits an area then disappears is probable in the area. When his work appears on walls collectors will do anything to get a hold of it so she intends to photograph the work so everyone can see. Her putting her life in danger for others means that she is probable a dragon heart causing an even greater connection between her and Tristan. When they give into their attraction to one another will they get a HEA or will it just bring other dragons to Tristan and Xander and what is the mysterious connection between them and Astray.

Kelsie loves art. Her avocation is taking photos of art especially, one artist. When her hunt gets her in trouble trying to help a man and his small son being asaulted she steps in. Not very smart, three big bad guys and her since the man is down.

Tristan shouldn't interfere. He's in hiding and trying hard to stay under the radar. Yet, he can't let her be hurt. Something about her pulls at him. Their second meeting is another rescue. So begins their getting to know and want each other. There are secrets. Game-changing secrets. Tristan has someone to remind him of his secrets and the cost of sharing or having them discovered.

The author has created another dragon world within the world fans like me have enjoyed for some time. Still, there is the steam and fun characters along with a strong woman worthy of the love of a dragon. I can't wait to find out who Xander finds to love (if they can put up with him).

I have been hoping for a return of the Double Dragons (the Bad Dragons - reverse harem - was good but not among my favorites) and this story brought them back with a fantastic twist (not writing about it as I don't want to spoil the surprise). This whole story is built on misunderstandings and cross-purposes and misguidance, all of which keep Tristan isolated and away from the dragon community.

Tristan and Kelsie are perfectly matched in all ways (except she is a dragonheart and will fight for her mate and he wants to protect her from everything). I loved Tristan's incognito attempts. All of these new characters are well constructed and fleshed out, from our new couple to all the supporting dragons. I have never thought of the Double Dragon pairs as pigheaded but the purple/gold pair in this book sure are and they really needed a lesson in dragonhearts. Loved Tristan's dragon and cannot wait for Xander's story!

I love Terry's work and look forward to each new book!

Cute dragon shifter story about Tristan, who is trying to hide from the local double dragons, and Kelsie, a photographer of street art. When Tristan comes upon Kelsie in a fight with wolf shifters (of course she doesn't know what they are), he feels compelled to jump in and protect her. His life saving doesn't end there and he finally decides that he will have to offer his services to protect her while she searches out the street art of Astray, an artist who tends to hide his work in hard to find places in bad neighborhoods. He and his twin brother, Xander, have been staying on the down low to avoid catching the attention of the local dragons, but he is afraid all of that is going to change when his dragon decides that Kelsie is his mate.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary. (I hope Xander gets his own book and I have a feeling Janet may play a part in it.)

I love Terry Bolryder’s books and Dragon Next Door, the first book in her new Forgotten Dragon series, is no exception.

Tristan, and his twin brother Xander are rare, red, twin dragon shifters who have been hiding for almost a century. Their rarity forces them to staying away from all other shifters and humans. Life is endless and lonely. Things change one night when Tristan is drawn to a beautiful human in need of rescuing. Kelsie Lawton, is a harding working photographer looking to make ends meet. They destinies collide in a dark, back alley and fate brings them together to change the course of their lives. The connection and chemistry between them is instant and intense, as is the love, but will that be enough when Tristan’s past comes a knocking? Read it and find out!

I loved reading Dragon Next Door, it’s a great and exciting love story with a happily ever after. I can’t wait to read more from this series. Hopefully, Xander will soon find his own HEA.

Kelsie studied Art History and Photography, which definitely is her passion, but unfortunately her passion alone won't pay the bills. When she's not working she wanders around the city looking for street art from the elusive Astray. His art usually isn't in the nicest areas, so it's ot that surprising that she finds herself in a dangerous situation. Of course she didn't think before she rushed in to help someone. Thankfully a handsome stranger saves her.

Tristan and his twin brother Xander are dragons in hiding. They were abandoned as children and seen as mutants or freaks of natures. They were never paired and for 100 years they've been on the run from the policing double dragons and the oracle. Tristan falls for Kelsie while he takes her to find Astray's works. He doesn't think he can have a mate, but Kelsie makes him want to change everything! Great read!!

Ah the disappointment.

This is the story of Kelsie, who loves art and is trying to find unseen pieces of a famous street artist to photograph before anyone else when she coles accross trouble and is saved by Tristan. He leaves her after saving her vecause he cannot be seen or interact with humans. Tristan is a dragon shifter (the shifter community is a secret), but he is a dragon shifter on the run from other dragon shifters.

The beginning of the book is great. You can see all the twists from miles away but it's still a nice read. Then things just start of 1) make no sense or 2) be boring.

Kelsie has a job, as a waitress but she never actuall works? Tristan is a huge human but disguises thanks to a beard? (Like why not grow one?) We never even get the oracle scene?

Yeah it was boring and predictable and I'm sad

Dragon Next Door by Terry Bolryder is a 4 star read.
Kelsie Lawton is a photographer chasing a street artist named Astray when she stumbles on a father and son in an alleyway being beaten by 3 huge guys, trying to save the day but only making things worse for herself when she comes out of hiding looking to protect them, but lucky for her and unlucky for the bullies another huge guy comes to their rescue.
Tristan has spent his life in hiding but the moment he sets eyes on Kelsie in trouble he jumps in to help and before he knows it she’s taken over his thoughts.
I really enjoyed this story, Terry Bolryder knows how to write interesting shifters especially the dragons.

I Got this book to Review & am not influenced by this

This is a first book in the series & I loved it you had the rare dragons as they are twins both Red & was left by their parents when young to defend for themselves
Tristan Saves Kelsie along with two others & expect that to be it but Kelsie needs saving again both can't stop thinking about each other
The twins have to keep leaving because being the paired dragons run them out as they believe that they could be evil & may even be experiment on as twin reds are so rare
This is a standalone book but of course you know that the next book will have ones from this one can't wait for the next one

Nope.

Almost made it. Story was intriguing enough, but From the beginning Kelsie was a grating character. Then she completely lost me in the first sex scene:

-She came again, cursing herself for being so easy.
What?
-She could risk it. He nodded. “I’m clean.” She was too horny to care.
SLAP!!
And of course she came again...*eyeroll*

I love a good dragon smut, but this was ridiculous.

Dnf. Rating based on what I did read.

I love this fun new spin off. You get to meet Tristan and Kelsie. Their story is fun and sweet and based around one of my favorite things, art. There were a couple of parts that made me laugh and are sure to make you laugh too. I great quick read to escape in for a day.

This is my honest opinion of this title.

DNF on 30-something percent on account of intolerable female protagonist, complete absence of logic or sense, and increasing frequency of irritating writing quality.

The h is infatuated with a mystery street artist. She figures out he is in her city and wants to find all his paintings before people come from all over. She gets into some trouble, with some wolves attacking a boy and his dad. She says she is prepared and has taken self defense all her life but in this whole book it is weak human who can do nothing vs. shifter. All though she has no idea about shifters, and is also a virgin like the hero.
The H comes and saves her, then saves her again. He offers to take her out to find more paintings, while keeping her safe. They fall for each other. He was very sweet from what we see, apparently before he hated humans or was indifferent at best.
Dragons are color coordinated depending on their gifts. Each one is paired with a different color, given territory to protect, and will share 1 mate. Over a hundred years ago the H and his brother were born as twins. His parents freaked out, warned them about the Oracle, and abandoned them. Any other "normal" dragon pairs see them and demand they leave the territory, claiming they are freaks, evil, an experiment, or they have to go to the Oracle. They refuse to see the Oracle and keep moving and hiding.
In the end he has to save her life, which other humans saw. She is also something called a dragon heart, which means if mated to a dragon she can receive a power. The leaders of this territory accuse the twins of stealing a dragon heart, of brainwashing her. She doesn't want her guy hurt so she leaves with the pair. She tries convincing them that the twins are good, that they are the ones in the wrong, but since the Oracle is actually really good and protects all shifters and humans alike, them being afraid of her means they are bad or in this case misinformed. The brothers come for her, and the purple and gold dragon think they can kill them so easily. When one almost kills his brother he shifts, but doesn't camouflage himself. Now they all see that he is a crystal red, and HUGE, bigger than any other dragon. The others are freaked out, knowing they wont win a fight, and saying how he looks like the original dragons. They plan to meet. The hero takes the h back and tells her his last secret, that he is in fact the street artist she loves so much. Then they share blood to mate and she is infused with the silver dragon, the one would have been paired with. This means she is stronger, will live until killed, can read minds, and has telekinesis, ie. moving things with her mind. I so wish she would have had these powers before, so she could actually use them! It ended with him being naughty with chocolate and cream and them completing the mating bond. No epilogue, the next book is the brothers.

Kelsey and Tristan meet in an alley when he interrupts an attack on her and two other individuals. After dispatching the three wolf shifters that were threatening them, Tristan, a dragon shifter, hurries away before she can further their introduction.
From the start Kelsey is attracted to Tristan, and after he saves her again from falling to her death in a separate incident, their magnetic pull for each other begins a relationship that tests multiple issues.
What I enjoyed about Kelsey was the fact that she didn’t shy away from her attraction or play games that kept them separated. She approached Tristan with warmth and friendship right from the start that only bloomed with time. Her loyalty to him was inspiring and when she learned he was a dragon, she wasn’t afraid and get all withdrawn from him. It was such a refreshing change from the norm. She recognized he was still the man she fell in love with, not a monster.
I look forward to reading the next issue with Tristan’s brother.
