"Promise you won't ever leave me again."
"You will have me until the devil drags me back to Hell."
I stiffen and pull back to look up at him. "Why would you say that?"
"Because from the moment I left you, that's where I've been."

This was really unlike any sports romance I've read thus far. I thought I knew what to expect going into this novel, but this book did not follow any of the "regular tropes" typically found in second-chance or sports-romance, which I app

I’m having a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book LOL It’s a second chance to get it right trope, which is one of my favorites because, redemption!! Redemption can be tricky in a romance journey because while redeeming someone is crucial, it also takes pages/words/plot away from a couple actually moving forward and romancing, if you will. So, long story short, I love that the meat of this book focused more on AJ and Julian in the present but I hate how it was written. I’m not going into plot points, but I will say t ...more

The Play Maker was the first book I’ve read by L.M. Carr and there was lots to love here. As a lover of both football and romance, it stands to reason that football romance is my favorite trope and when I find one that doesn’t shy away from the football, I luxuriate in it. That’s what I found here. Don’t get me wrong, if you’re not a football fan (or you don’t know much about it), I don’t think you’ll be lost or bored. But if you, like me, spend your Sunday afternoons reveling in your love of the gam ...more

This is a second chance sports romance story that I am a little conflicted about. Overall, I enjoyed the story but there were some little things with the story that got under my skin.

First of all, I have to applaud the author on her inclusion of some sensitive topics with regard to women's empowerment. The main character, Addison, is a sports reporter in a primarily male-dom

The Play Maker is a second chance romance read that had to charters that were madly in love with each other and I really found to be perfect for each other. I enjoyed the way that we got to read about the history of the two characters together and how much they cared for each other. I found this story to be really well written with the way that it was written in present tense but also gave them flashbacks to the couples past giving readers the backstory to these characters.

“You’re my girl, Addison. You always have been, and you always will be.”

How do you move past losing the love of your life? How do you live when the ending of a relationship isn’t understood? This is one of the underlying tensions of L.M. Carr’s newest book, The Play Maker. Julian and Addison were childhood sweethearts. They were everything to each other at a time when life was difficult for both of them. After graduation, Julian just leaves. He makes a choice to br

4 star Review of The Play Maker (The Sideline Series #1) by LM Carr

LM Carr is a new author to me. I enjoyed The Play Maker, a second chance at love story but it didn’t grab my attention as much as I hope it would.
Leaving behind his high school girlfriend, Julian MacIntyre was determined to make it big in the NFL . Fast forward ten years or so and after being sidelined by injury, Julian is now the youngest coach in the NFL. Addison (AJ) Hamilton is now a sport’s journalist tasked with inte

Loving this second-chance romance! Julian and AJ were high school sweethearts and had their future planned out together, but that all changed when Julian decided to break up with AJ and go to college elsewhere. During his professional career, Julian has a career-ending injury, and transitions into a coaching role as a way to still be involved in the game. In the meantime, AJ has risen to fame in her own right in the sports world as a reporter. After making some poor decisions in an attempt to ge ...more

The Play Maker is the first book I’ve read from L.M. Carr and I’m a sucker for any sports romance so I had to read this one. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed every single moment of the story.

Addison is a sports reporter and landed an interview for Houston’s new head coach, he just so happens to be the man that broke her heart years prior. Julian’s NFL career ended quickly due to an injury but he has the chance to come back as a head coach. When he see’s the woman whose heart he broke

The Play Maker is a sweet second chance sports romance. I enjoyed the characters although I did find them frustrating at times. Julian and AJ have known each other since they were young. They fell in love as teenagers but something big happened and Julian left. It took most of the book to find out the reason why, but I felt bad for all the years they wasted. I was surprised that AJ being a reporter and always asking questions didn’t want to find out the real reason Julian left and never looked b ...more

This is the first book I have read from LM Carr and now I can't wait for more.

AJ Hamilton (aka Addison) is a successful sports reporter she is all for the game.

One thing she is not lucking in is love one man broke her heart ten years ago and she vailed no man would every do that to her again.

That is until her boss calls her into his office to tell her that she will be interviewing the new NFL coach Julian Macintyre.

L.M. Carr is adding to her list of realistic and relatable contemporary romance novels with The Playmaker and the Connecticut based author does not disappoint with this, her latest novel.
The self-professed lover of "Happily Ever Afters," promises to make you smile at the end of her books, but with The Playmaker, you will smile from start to finish. That’s not to lead you to wrongly believe that this book is without drama, it has just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat…or Kindle. L.M.’s

I loved how strong Addison "A.J.", was. She may have a job that is male dominated, but she does her job as sports reporter, as good as or better than a guy. She stands up to people that don't think she belongs in that line of work, and doesn't let them bully her. Julian once broke Addison's heart, and now she must interview him. Is she ready to face the man that left her in tears? Can she forgive him, and give him another chance, or is the hurt too much? Another great book by L.M. Carr!

Let me start off by saying I liked the book, from about 30% on. The first little bit had be confused and a little angry, more on that later, but instead of putting it down I kept going and I was glad I did. Sports genre is really my bread and butter, I enjoy reading these types of stories and I liked Julian and Addisons storyline. What I didn't like was how she made such a big deal about working in a male dominated field (sports reporting) and how she had to fight and claw to prove herself, but ...more

Interesting, emotional and informative, a second chance novel about high school sweethearts who break apart and reunite years later.

AJ Hamilton and Julian McIntyre were sweet on each other since they were thirteen years old. By seventeen, they were dating, but when Julian was leaving for University, he broke up with AJ abruptly and broke her heart. He was the love of her life and for eighteen years she hasn’t been able to love another man. What she did was get into hookups and short flings. Jul

My favorite tropes mixed together..sports romance and second chance. From the beginning we learn that the heroine Addison AJ still loves a handsome boy/man from her childhood who was also her brothers best friend. Ten years have passed since they were together and she has only ever loved him all that time. What this author does that none others have is have her deal with her heartbreak by sleeping around. She also must have been fairly intoxicated during these times too as her reflections are of ...more

I love a good sports romance, even better when the sport is football, so when I read the blurb for The Play Maker by L.M. Carr, I just knew that I had to get my hands on this book. This book is about love lost and found again, at a time when you least expect it. Julian and Addison were childhood sweethearts who made promises to each other they each thought they would be able to keep at the time. Julian breaks his promise and destroys Addison's heart in the process when he leaves after their high ...more

The Play Maker is the first novel I’ve read for LM Carr and I’m not sure how I feel about it overall. I could only rate it 3 out of 5 stars for some reasons I’ve written below. But up first, a summary of the novel.

Addison Jane “AJ” loved Julian way back in the day. She has never gotten over the heartbreak of losing him, though she tries to keep him far from her every day thoughts he creeps in. She has some wild days trying to get him out of her system, but now her career is the most

Addison Hamilton has always loved football, so she did the miraculous, and made herself a name in the Sports Industry as a sports journalist, which is usually male dominated. Julian MacIntyre's whole life revolved around football, but a permanent injury took him out of the game. However, he's making a splash as the league's youngest coach, and this is when Addison was assigned an interview with him, and despite her NOT wanting to do it, she has no choice if she wants to keep her job. ThePlay Maker by new to me author, LM Carr is a sports, second chance romance with a little of brother's best friend thrown in.
AJ Hamilton and and Julian McIntrye were the stuff of sports romances the world over, until they just weren't anymore. Julian leaves AJ crushed and devastated with words she doesn't understand. The following years are spent overcoming the breakup and establishing herself as an award winning sports reporter, while Julian works hard to become a football leg

WIthin a small span of time, a great story can be read and enjoyed. Appreciation is something that must be given when an author puts together very good work. L.M. Carr has done amazing work with The Play Maker (The Sideline #1) and I am happy to complement her.

This story is intriguing and had me tied to my kindle from beginning to end. Of course putting sports together with Texas and all the fun that goes with that...what’s a fella to do? But then L.M. went way deeper, bringing other

While I liked this book and read it in one day/sitting I also had a couple big problems with it that I felt could have been easily avoided. I liked that as a second chance sports romance the author gave us a lot of back story to greater understand Julian & Addison's history. We got to see a lot of memories Addison had of her time growing up with Julian and the first time they dated. Addison and Julian had a bad breakup and Addison has a lot of bad feelings, hurt and resentment towards Julian ...more

Second chance/sports romance. I have read this author before and The Playmaker is a bit different than her others. Her love for football and the patriots shows in this book.

Julian and Addison have history. Julian was a Nfl superstar and a hometown hero. Julian changing careers and is taking a job as a coach. His and Addison path have crossed throughout the years but now Julian wants his girl back! Or is it to late to start over?

Addison is a high profiled sports reporter in a male dominated car
