‘She shivered, though the kitchen was warm. Icicles of foreboding trickled down her spine. With trembling hands she whipped back her hair at the nape of her neck. As she turned away from the window, she missed the shadow passing by.’

One dark winter’s morning, bride-to-be Cara Dunne is found hanging in her home, dressed in her wedding dress, with a lock of hair removed. Detec

Progress--Finally!

Multiple suicides have the small Irish town of Ragmullin on edge. When Detective Lottie Parker examines one of the crime scenes, she begins to suspect that there is more going on than meets the eye. As she and her team dig deeper into the the suicide victims' pasts, they uncover a dark web of lies and twisted minds.

When school teacher Cara Dunne is found hanging in her bathroom - a belt pulled taught around her neck, it sadly looks like a cut and dried case of suicide, however, there’s no suicide note, but what makes a suicide verdict seem more likely is the fact that she was wearing a wedding dress. A heartbroken jilted bride perhaps?

Later that day, Fiona Heffernan, a nurse at a local nursing home is found dead by a colleague, having fallen from the roof three floors up. She too was wearing a wedding dre

I’ve been a big fan of the Lottie Parker series since the first book. But the last book wasn’t as strong as the prior ones. So, I was anxious to see how I felt about this one.

It starts fast and furious. Two women are found dead, both in wedding dresses. They look like suicides but appearances can be deceiving. And then the young daughter of one of the women is missing.

We’re given lots of potential suspects. In fact, with every chapter, my mind lit onto another potential murderer. We hear from

Patricia Gibney has filled up my heart with love and also broken it simultaneously. Damn she's a good writer!

Crying myself to sleep of that I have no doubt.

Oh yes, I tossed and turned last night thinking about where Patricia Gibney left off DI Lottie Parker, her family and her team. Lottie has overcome a lot, but may be faced with her toughest challenge yet as she realizes her daughters and son are grow

It's so good to see Patricia Gibney back in form, with Irish DI Lottie Parker investigating a series of murders and a missing child without any of her own family being abducted or threatened (goodness knows, they've suffered enough in the past!) Lottie's family is still important to her and part of what makes Lottie an interesting character as she tries to juggle single motherhood of teenagers with her high pressure job as a DI. The She's recently become engaged to DS Mark Boyd (but hasn't told ...more

Firstly I must thank Net Galley, the publishers and the author for an ARC copy.

Broken Souls is the seventh book in the DI Lottie Parker series

Two apparent suicides are discovered but both are wearing wedding dresses so suspicions are raised that the deaths were in fact murders. One of the women had an 8 year old daughter but she is now missing: has the murderer taken her or has she been abducted by someone else?

Lottie’s personal relationship with Boyd has become complica

Detective Lottie Parker is back again. .. book 7 in a series that is still going mighty strong. Returning to Lottie and her team is always something to look forward to and this book did not disappoint. Lottie and her family have been through a lot throughout this series and book 7 is no different.

This is a complex case for the team, with a lot going on with a lot of different characters. It keeps you guessing right up until the big reveal. There are women in wedding dresses in suspec

Broken Souls is the seventh book in the Detective Inspector Lottie Parker police procedural series, and it's a welcome return to form for both Ms Gibnry and Lottie as the last few novels had slipped in terms of her character getting on peoples last nerve but here she is shown in a better light.

Both Cara Dunne and Fiona Heffernan look to have committed suicide and were both residents of the sleepy village of Ragmullin; Cara by hanging and Fiona by jumping from the roof of her workplace. But thei

She's back!! I was worried that I wouldn't like this because the last couple books have got on my nerves but I wanted to keep on to my hope that Gibney would deliver a book worthy of this series. I'm happy to say that she finally got back on track. First, and most importantly, she left her family out of the investigation. Big plus right there! The investigation was a good one too. I never like to actually go into that because I think its important to go into mysteries blind

Book 7 in the Lottie Parker series and another excellent addition.
Book 6, although I enjoyed it, did irritate me a bit with the investigation/family overlapping into each other. Despite being a strong book, there was an element of the fantastical, even unbelievable that I didn’t care for much and there was also an element of soap opera to it.

No such worries here as we have clear separation between the two. A strong enough murder mystery element that kept me guessing until the end, the family s

Even though the novel is set in the run up to Christmas, this is a story that chilled me in more ways than just the weather!

Lottie, well things don’t get any easier for her. More than a few times I wanted to reach in to the story and give her a hug. I really felt for her with the constant struggle between motherhood and her job. I have to admit to feeling a wee bit sad for her kids as lets be honest, they do seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to Lotties career.

I'm no stranger to DI Lottie Parker and have been a fan of the Irish crime series since the beginning. So I was excited to see where this one would lead, as I thoroughly enjoyed the last book "Final Betrayal" but for the cliffhanger Ms Gibney left us on. The premise for BROKEN SOULS was intriguing with two women found dead in suspected suicides, both wearing wedding dresses.

Cara Dunne, a schoolteacher, was found hanging in her bathroom, a belt pulled taut around her neck. By all

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Broken Souls, the seventh novel to feature Detective Lottie Parker of the Ragmullin Garda.

When Cara Dunne is found hanged in her bathroom something doesn’t seem right about it and a post-mortem confirms she was murdered. That afternoon Fiona Hefernan is thrown off a building and her 8 year old daughter, Lily, is missing. With the bodies piling up and Lily still missing Lottie and her team work overtime to solve the

Seventh book featuring DI Lottie Parker but first of mine, this was again a different police procedural.

A series of suicides suddenly seemed off when the pathologist realized that it was all building up to be murder. DI Lottie Parker and her team investigated. A lot of convoluted clues with no interpretation and a missing child too added to the confusion.

Patricia Gibney wrote a detailed investigation depicting realities of working with different members of a team. Lottie

I always get excited when another book from Patricia Gibney comes out. Broken Souls is the 7th Book in the DI Lottie Parker Series and what a great book it is.
Set again in Ragamullin and the surrounding areas. Lottie is called to Hill Point apartments to a scene of a woman, Cara Dunne hanging behind the door in her bathroom, with a belt around her neck, wearing a wedding dress, apparently a suicide. Then another body of a woman is found. Fiona Heffernan a nurse, her body broken and again i

Oh my days! Where on earth do I start with this review? It was so nice to catch up with Detective Lottie Parker again, I’ve missed her and the team. This is #7 of this Irish Police Procedural series set in Ragmullin and it’s surrounding villages. I’m not sure it’s a place I’d love though as it has more than it’s fair share of psychopaths and serial killers. It’s chock a block full of the twists and turns that we have come to expect from Ms Gibney. (No pressure for #8) These really shouldn’t be r ...more

Hallelujah! After being fairly disappointed by the last two books in the series, in "Broken souls" DI Lottie Parker is (almost) back to form. Sure, she's a little bit less bitchy than in previous stories, but she still acts like everything's about her. If she keeps going that way she will alienate all the people in her life, both work and family. I have to concede that her children sometimes act like ungrateful brats, but she doesn't put much on her part to make things easier at home. I'm curiou ...more

There were definitely some strong points to book 7 in the Lottie series, but, I did have a few things that bugged me so, the lower rating is applied. I was mostly pleased that one of Lottie's kids were not a victim - sorry for giving anything away. Ms. Gibney was doing overkill on that score - sorry for the pun. There is a decent storyline, although I did have some issues with it. It's hard not to give anything away. I'll just say that I'm glad I read this series and will continue to do so.

Broken Souls is the seventh in the police procedural series featuring Irish DI Lottie Parker, however, I was happy to jump straight in and read it independently without any issues as the author, Patricia Gibney, provided enough background to allow me to feel comfortable with the characters and setting. Killings are happening and there is a common thread. D.I. Lottie Parker is trying to determine what wedding garb has to do with the bodies that are being found. Then when Lottie discovers that one of the victim's eight-year-old daughter has gone missing, she works feverishly from all angles to find the missing child while solving the murders.

As per usual in this progressive and incredibly effective series, there is a lot to offer readers. There are always the cas

I thought that this was another well written book in the DI Lottie Parker series – this is a go to series for me as I know the author always writes a good story and one that I know will keep me hooked right from the start though to the brilliant endings she has – I can’t believe we are already at book 7 in the series!

This book has quite a few darker undertones and I really enjoyed them, it is quite a darker case for Lottie and her team to investigate. I thought that the characters we

I love this series and it was great to catch up with Lottie and Boyd again.
The story starts off fast paced and with the discovery of a woman who looks to have hanged herself, so Lottie and the team are kept busy.
Soon another death occurs and this time the woman has fallen to her death.
Both women were in wedding dresses, so Lottie has to work out the connection. On top of this, one of the women’s daughters has gone missing so the pressure is on.
There were quite a lot of characters to keep up

I am a huge huge fan of Patricia Gibney. I feel like I’ve known Lottie Parker for years and I’m rooting for her...... I loved this book. The perfect continuation of her story. So many twists and turns ..... no clue where the book is heading until the end.
This is my all time favourite series.... if you haven’t read Patricia yet you’re in for a treat as you have 7 books to read. Highly recommend!!!!!

Broken Souls by Patricia Gibney
D.I. Lottie Parks #7

Creepy characters – suspects aplenty – unsettling – made me wonder...

Having just read the book description before starting the book I was surprised with how the book began and even looked ahead to make sure I was reading the correct book. It actually took the prologue and a few chapters before I reached a point where I knew I was in the right book. Once Lottie was on the scene I felt perhaps I was where I was suppos

I have to say I got very excited when I saw book 7 was out in the Detective Lottie Parker series, its no secret that I love these books…..

Lottie is called to the scene of an apparent suicide of a woman found hanged in her bathroom wearing a wedding dress but when her and Boyd arrive, they feel like something is off, did this woman, Cara do this to herself? Lottie is working on the presumption that they may have a murder on their hands, then a few days later, the body of another woman

I am back in Ragmullin with Lottie Parker and her family and not forgetting Boyd. I am officially in reading heaven.
