A story about shifters is always a good start for me. This story was well written and held my attention. The author has created a world in another dimension that is constantly bathed in snow. It is inhabited by Were’s and other monsters. In this case, the Were’s are good. There are also Fae and Goddesses. It is also a story of love and war.

Cade is the King of his land, and a darkness is threatening to overtake his kingdom. He asks the Goddess of Wyth what he should do and is told

With an intriguing premise I really wanted to like this more. It was a quick and light read with a few moment of charm. However, the overall story felt a little rushed and I wished that the author dove into the plot a little bit more. There were a lot of opportunities to make the plot alot more interesting, but overall it felt very predictable and the characters underdeveloped. I look forward to reading the second book in the series.

The author provided me with an advanced copy in exchange for my

A curse, a sacrifice and an impossible choice. A wonderful new series full of magic, fae and fated romance. I really enjoyed the characters and loved how the story played out. It was hard to put down once I picked it up.

I was asked by the author if I would read and review this book and I am so glad I agreed! I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down!

Cade is the Winter King in the fae realm of Wyth and when a curse is literally destroying his land, he has to venture to the human realm to find one who is selfless in order to stop the curse. He has no problem with this at all and sure enough finds Amber, a young, girl whose life is not going the way she wants at all. He drags her back to his palace, where she

Great Fae fantasy romance! Amber is down on her luck. She just lost her job and is living with a horrible roommate. What's special about Amber is she never looses her empathy, kindness or willingness to help. Cade is the Winter king in the Fae realm of Wyth. His land has been poisoned by a curse from longstanding enemies. In order to save his land he needs a pure hearted sacrifice. I loved Amber and Cade. They are perfect for each other! I felt bad for both of them, but they were doing what they ...more

This was an interesting read. I really had high hopes for this book, as I really loved the blurb. It had high potential. But I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. It was really hard to keep my interest.

I am part of a big community of readers that LOVE a good journey to Faerie. This story did not disappoint!

It's difficult to not like Amber, and even knowing the motivations for King Cadewyn taking her back to his kingdom, it's hard not to feel for the guy. He's just trying to save his realm after all. There's drama, that wonderful feeling of being dropped into a lush mythology and some truly steamy romantic tension.

If you are a fan of fae / human romance, this is a great choice!

More like 3.5! It was so fun! But because it was so short it was very fast paced so things did happen quickly

I loved the world though! Will definitely read the next one!

The Winter Court is under a court. To save his Kingdom King Cadewyn needs a sacrifice. What happens when that sacrifice is also his mate? Amber is a great character and was taken from her home and into the Winter Court. While there she develops feelings for the king. Plenty of creatures and action with some steam. This was a great story. Loved it! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.
Didn’t enjoy. Not for me

2.5 stars. Good story, but like many of the other reviewers I agree that the overall book could have been fleshed out more. There was potential for more storylines and insights/perspectives from other secondary characters that were not taken. Because the book was so short the emotions between the two main characters were not as deep and more one dimensional than necessary. If the book were longer there would have been more time to build the tension and attraction between the main characters. ...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

The king of the Winter Court faces a dilemma when a curse is cast upon his kingdom and he needs to sacrifice a human who is pure of heart in order to save his kingdom, and his people. Only problem is, the woman he needs to sacrifice is his mate. The idea behind this book is good and it's certainly a light, enjoyable read with dual perspectives (something I always enjoy), however I found it lacking in depth and character development.

Winter King, first in this series, has a gorgeous wrapper. I love the artwork. It’s so beautiful! J.S. Dark, if you read this review kudos to your artist!

Lately, I’ve read a great deal of paranormal romance, reverse harem, and sports romance. I am one of those people who gets focused on a genre and then ruts it until I find something to distract me. I looked at this cover for sometime before I read the book. Then it took a while to write the review for no other reason than the end of the year

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book.
I hadn't read the blurb, had no idea what it was about, just loved the cover.
It's what captured my attention and drove my need to read it.

I'd been putting off reading it.
Not for any particular reason, just hadn't really been in a reading mood.
But last night I finally decided to read it.
I'd read the first page a few days ago, but other books had been drawing my attention, so once again I'd set it aside, though I had been intrigued with

I will admit that when I first started this book I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. The story was falling flat for me in the beginning. I didn’t feel anything for the characters and the story seemed pretty straight forward.

That being said, KEEP reading. I hit fifty percent and couldn’t put this book down.

One of the things that I absolutely couldn’t get enough of was J.S. Dark’s descriptions of the world. You wanted to be a part of the ice kingdom. I wanted to see the city. The land was a

This is the first book in The Wyth Courts series by this author, and although it held a lot of promise I do think it needed developing more, the story needed a bit more oomph, it was a bit predictable and I didn't feel the connections with the characters. That said I did enjoy the story, there is definitely scope for more books, so will keep an eye out and see how they go.

So the idea behind the story is that the Winter King, Cade, has had a curse cast upon his land and only a selfless and caring

Winter King by JS Dark is my first book by Dark. I’m pretty much biased when it comes to fantasy setting romance, I devour em like fresh banana bread with tea on a chilly but bright morning.
Winter King, held a lot of potential, I won’t say that I was over the moon reading it, some of the stuff felt a bit too childish or off but then there’s was some stuff that shone through. It’s the story of a king who is bound to protect his people and land and at the same time has to choose between his fated

I really liked this book. Fantasy romance is my favorite genre so I enjoyed this story a lot.

If you like fated mates, shape-shifters, magic, sword fights and medium slow burn, this is your book. The story isn’t very long so if you prefer more straight forward plot you will have a great time reading this book.

I liked a lot the descriptions of the Fae world and reading Cade and Amber different point of views while advancing though the story. It’s interesting to see how they feel and think about

This is the first book for an interesting new series. I love that each book will seem to give a glimpse of different parts of this world without making us feel that the world loses out on depth because we have so much character or story. Each book looks to be connected but seperate.

Winter King gave us a good introduction to this Fae world. I really liked the main characters of Cade and Amber. These characters were well defined and believable. I loved the conflict and the story, but wished it had

Corny & Predictable

“Snow above” and “frosting mind” are just two of the very corny phrases used throughout the story. The author takes the winter theme to the extreme and way too literally.

The hero and heroine, Cade and Amber, come across as caricatures instead of developed characters. Neither one held my interest and I found myself skimming in an effort to finish the book.

The author should consider eliminating the few steamy scenes in the book. Then it can be presented for a young adult

This is my first book by this author and it was a great read! I love the fantasy genre and this author did a fantastic job of weaving a tale in a world full of magic and Fae. This would have totally been a 5 star for me, but there were things I wish would have been explained further or better. Like who different people were and what happened to Cade’s sister since she was there and then wasn’t. I definitely enjoyed the dual POV and feel this author has developed a fascinating world. This book moved very slowly. Normally short books have a faster pace but for me, this book was slow.. I think that was why it took so long for me to finish.

Since the book is about the winter Fae, the author used A LOT of “winter” terms to substitute in for real words like what the frost!? It got annoying..

The love story between Cade and Amber was pretty solid. It appears this is the first book from this author so I’ll probably give her another chance because I love Fae books. I think the next

Not a bad book at all, was well written, plot was a little cliche, the entire storyline was a bit expected.

I felt character development was lacking a bit, the dialogue was a little clunky, and everything was missing emotion and a flow.

It was a quick read, but it literally was a “numb” read- the kind of book that lacks emotion or personality within their characters or the action.

I received an ARC for my honest opinion.

I will say though- great cover!
