I absolutely loved this book, I was completely immersed within the tantalising and engaging story from the first page. Confession time; This is actually the first book I have read by Liana De La Rosa, I have no idea how this fine author has passed me by for so long especially as I do have one or two of her books on my bookshelf, waiting on that mountain of a tbr pile.
This is the third book in the Once Upon a Scandal series, not that you would know that as I read this as a stand-alone, I di

I did admire Lady Flora, in that she didn’t want the fact that she was a female to hold her back from the job that she wanted to do, that of training horses. When she disguises herself to obtain the post, she more than proved she was capable. Christian, Marquess of Armstead needs to acquire investors and to win the horse race to enable his enterprise to continue. This story moved along at quite a slow pace for over half the book. It was only once Christian realised William was Flora that it move ...more

I enjoy how De la Rosa gives her characters depth, realistic flaws, and seemingly insurmountable obstacles to overcome. I like how she challenges societal norms for the time in which she writes. And I love how she draws me into a story and into her characters' hearts and minds.

Though Flora (a/k/a William) is the daughter of a duke, growing up in Scotland she was allowed to indulge her life's passion training horses and pretty much running her father's estate. But when she arrived in London with

Okay, first fo all, this was a new to me historical author so I didn’t know what to expect.

Flora is a duke’s daughter who loves horses. She loves horses but her status means she isn’t really in a position to work with them so to learn more about that she applies for a job in Amstead’s stables. Disguised as a man she gets to know the trainings, the horses and also their owner, Christian.

Christian wants to rebuild the stables’ glory by winning the race with one of his prize

To Tame a Scandalous Lady by Liana De la Rosa is book Three in the Once Upon a Scandal Series. This is the story of Christian Andrews, the Marquess of Amstead and Lady Flora Campbell. I have read the previous books but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Flora never had the dream to marry but did have one to work with race horses. Which leads her to go in disguised to work at the Amstead Gardens and their racehorses. All is going good until Christian ask that "he" work ...more

A superb piece of storytelling. Flora is a magnificent character. She is a Duke’s daughter who wants to train horses rather than prance around ballrooms. She has a sharp wit and a strong sense of purpose. She can be impetuous an has a stubborn streak a mile long. She is determined to set her own course and devises a plan to do just that. Christian is a Marquess trying to rebuild his legacy. He carries around a lot of guilt for what he has lost. He is solely focused on rebuilding his stable of ho ...more

I really liked this book about a woman fighting to make her own place in the high society of England.

The book is about the youngest daughter of the duke of Lake Kilmorrow in Scotland, Lady Flora Campbell who decides to dress as a man to get a job as an assistant trainer of racehorses in Amstead Gardens. Despite that this scandal can ruin her reputation (which she doesn’t care about), her brother Lord Niall’s political career and reputation, her sister duchess Juliana and her husband

Oh how I love finding new-to-me authors! Liana is one. I loved this book and will definitely be reading more of hers.
This story was full of wonderful characters that include a head strong Lady, sexy Marquess, intuitive horse trainer and a hilarious Duchess.
Flora was determined to learn all she could about horse training, even risking her reputation by dressing as a boy to do it. No one would allow a woman in the stables to work, let alone a Lady. Especially not one that is also a Duke’s d

This book caught my eye because, well…horses. Stories where the h/h are animal lovers are always an auto select for me. This one did not disappoint with strong and interesting characters and storyline.

A Woman in a Man’s World.
Whilst the world has moved on since the Regency period, there are still some professions where a woman struggles for respect amongst the men around her. In a nutshell this is what the book is about, in order to get the position Flora disguises herself as a man but courts ruin if her secret is discovered. You do have to suspend disbelief in this book eg. I found it difficult to believe that her Duchess sister and spouse would have supported her in her subterfuge and

Enjoyed the story of how Flora, daughter of a Duke, disguised herself as a man in order to learn to train horses from one of the best Christian and along the way falls in love with him. The story tells of the training rigors that she went thru, in a time when women were not accepted in this field of work. Once her disguise was discovered, she continued to work as a trainer with only Christian and the head trainer knowing she was a woman. There is a HEA but it was not an easy process as blackmail ...more

This was my first Liana De la Rosa book and I have already downloaded another!

This was such a fun and interesting read. Full of female empowerment, horses and brooding glances! If Lady Flora Campbell had it her way, she would be anything other than a duke’s daughter… too bad for her, that is exactly what she is with all the trappings.

Flora is not going to let pesky details, like her station in life or gender stop her from attaining her dreams… Flora dreams of becoming a well known r

This author writes a good book, really! I finished in a few hours, because it was almost impossible to put it down. Flora's dream is to have her own stud farm. She needs to learn from the best, and the best is the Marquess of Armstead. Armstead Gardens is noted for their race horses and Flora decided to go in disguise as a lad. Hired as a trainer, Flora is in her element, until she's recognized. Armstead's reputation is on the line. Will she agree to marry the Marquess?

This book was really fun! Along with the great romance, it was clear the author either knew a lot about horses or did some really good research. I always love stories that have women going in disguise as a boy, and this one didn't disappoint. I loved watching Flora and Christian fall in love with each other, even if Christian could be a bit boneheaded at times.
