Then six months ago vampires came into her home and killed her family. Barbie managed to kill the vampires and escape but she wasn't able to save her family. However, she can avenge them. YAY! given her age (teens) i was a lil worried it might be a bit on the immature side for me but thankfuck it wasnt. -i tend towards uni/college age at the youngest usually- it was awesome. Like yes please more absolutely love where this is going sign me the fuck up. Their were moments that maybe couldve been a little mmm nicer is the wrong word but solid? Like a lot happened in this book and i always tend to give first books more leeway since they have a lot of leg work burden compared to ...more

This was such a fun book for me. I loved Barbie's sarcasm, her witty retorts, and the deadpan humor strung throughout.

"Don't worry, I don't bite," the girl at my side said, sending me a polite smile.
"I should hope not," I replied. Because if she did, then I'd have to stake her.

I cannot wait for the next installment in this fun series, especially after the twist toward the end. I'm also not sure if I'm Team Maverick or Team Torin. Maybe Team Both?

Overall, an excellent, fast-paced story with

Barbie is awesome

I just love Barbie, she is so awesome. Her snark and general attitude makes me want to be her when I grow up. The story itself is so entertaining, engaging and well written that once I started reading it I did not want to put it down. When I got to the end, I kept hoping for just one more page. I can't wait to find out what happens next

When I first bought my Kindle in 2009, I read so many vampire stories I burned myself out on the genre and it took only until this past year for me to be able to start reading stories centered around them again. Honestly, I’ve stopped reading most after about 25% because it feels like I’ve read it before. So when I was emailed an ARC opportunity for this book from booksprout, I was intrigued but not that excited because it’s a vampire storyline. Oh boy, am I glad I read it! I loved Barbie and ...more

Barbie’s been through a lot in the last six months. Her family is killed in front of her as she and her now-dead brother learn that what their parents had been teaching them was real. Vampires really do exist. Barbie just believed it too late.

Now she’s living in a new town, in a new house, with a new family, learning to navigate through her first experience at school, all while trying to find the vampire that ordered the death of her family. It’s a lot for a girl to handle on her own. Maybe the

My bid for revenge is going to have to wait, though, because until I turn 18, I’m being placed in

What originally pulled me in when I saw this book up for preorder was the name. When you hear the name Barbie a badass vampire hunter isn't really the first thing that comes to mind. All I could see was this girly girl in heels fighting obviously I had to have it!

I am so incredibly glad that I snagged this beauty up! I devoured it in a single day and got a bit of a book hangover from it!

Barbie's story of how she has gotten to where she's at is one of true sadness but also of love

I freaking love supernatural romances! I would totally consider this to be New Adult because the scenes can be a bit graphic, so just a heads up on that.

Now on the story, Rest in Pieces was freaking good! The entire story line with the plot and conflict was done quite well, I was sucked in from the very beginning. I also really liked the characters and saw Barbie as being so freaking similar to Buffy, The Vampire Slayer--- which is one of my favorite shows- ever! The snarkyness and the drive is

Off the hook! Lucinda puts it all on the line, laying this baby out so skillfully and precise fusing this jewel together solid as steel. You are not going to believe how this baby plays out. Amazing scenario's that punch dead center with such intensity and glittering precision, propels this little guy into a tailspin with stunning impacts. Speculations, hope, strength, revelations and determination press forward, thrusting this little guy to a whole new level. Jumping

WOW! Barbie is Amazing!

This story is absolutely fantastic! It’s full of action, suspense and intrigue, with so many little twists and turns. The whole story is a phenomenal rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. Once you start reading you won’t be able to stop.

Barbie is one kickass troubled teenager! She has had some really bad things happen to her, which forced her onto a path that she really wasn’t ready to take just yet. But she will do anything for vengeance. The two new men in her life

Wow what an amazing story and who doesn’t love the name Barbie the Vampire Hunter it made me chuckle because I was imagining Barbie the plastic doll with stakes in her hands fighting vampires. This story is about Barbie whose parents trained her in combat against the vampires she didn’t believe them until one night her whole family was attacked and killed by vampires in front of her but she managed to get away. Barbie is put into the care of her godparents she didn’t know she had but she is very ...more

Rest In Pieces is a kick@ss book all the way around. It's like a mix between Buffy the Vampire Slayer (oh come on, you knew I was going there) and supernatural. Barbie is just a ball of freaking awesomeness. She's been through some serious crap and that makes her keep her walls up tight. She's sassy, spunky, everything you wish you could be but would never have the balls to pull off. Mav and Torin are the two guys butting all up in her business. She has a mission but they seem to want to get in ...more

As someone who was (and still is) a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer I knew I wanted to read this book as soon as I read the blurb. This book isn't a fanfic on Buffy though, it's a very well written read with some similarities to that story.
It starts off with Barbie, the MC, being taken to meet her new potential adoptive family. A couple who knew her parents but are strangers to Barbie. What follows is an adventure with some laughs along the way (I loved the humour in this book)

I really enjoyed this take on the vampire hunter. The book is engaging, well-written, beautifully descriptive, and quite enthralling. My husband interrupted one of the fight scenes to ask if I was okay--apparently I was breathing hard, being so caught up in the drama. I was excited to get my hands on the book because I LOVED the Dark Maji Books (seriously--do yourself a favor and go get those ones RIGHT NOW); this is not as dark, being a much lighter approach, but this also means that it isn't ...more

Move over Buffy there's a new girl in town.

A great start. A heroine that doesn't take prisoners, foul-mouthed, testy and riddled with guilt over the death of her parents. After all her rebellion had let the vampires into the house. Now are six months in foster care (whilst carrying out a one person assault on vampires) she has been invited into the home of her godparents. Their son (a jock) takes exception to that whilst the king of the school (a former jock and a half vampire) finds her

The book's main characters are 3 teenagers - Barbie, Torin and Maverick. The plot unfolds through their alternating perspectives.

While they are supposed to be 17, none of the characters come across as particularly youthful. In fact, the author refers to the teenaged males as "men." (Although to be fair, the females are "girls.")

The main character, Barbie, is supposed to be tough. She certainly talks a good game. However, the 2 males are always around to rescue her.

The sex scenes are too graphic

Barbie was raised and trained by vampires hunters. After her family is brutally murdered she seeks out the vampire who orchestrated her family’s demise for vengeance. She is brought to her godmother’s house to be fostered until she is of age. And she is unwittingly sent into the lions den at her new prep school that will lead her to the vampire who set a hit on her family. I’m truly excited for the series. I was hooked on the book from the first chapter and on. The characters are well written ...more

What a great opening book to the series.
Firstly - Barbie. What a great character. Her level of sass, confidence and so head strong that will fight to get her revenge.
The guys - Torin Priest and Maverick McKnight. Two completely different characters yet work so well.
Love reading the different POVs to understand these characters individually and how their story interweaves into the broader world.
The world the author has created is both captivity and yet terrifying. Knowing what Barbie is getting

A bad “A” book

This story was perfection.
The plot was so well put together, and even for the beginning of a series, there weren’t any plot holes.
You can see such a broader picture for the future, but the characters have me craving the next book.

Barbie, I expected sass and sarcasm, but she was so much more. Not a perfect heroine who can “do anything and everything” but embraces mistakes and learns from her past. She’s such a straight foreword character it was a breath of fresh air in a genre

4 stars is a but high for the fluffiest of fluff, but what can I say? I really enjoyed this book. If you love Buffy then this is your book.

Truth: the paranormal *formula* is strong with this book. Lonely girl with traumatic past, dead parents, kick ass skills, and a chip on her shoulder. Snarky banter and surly hot dudes. Hate to love. It’s all here. So is the mate trope. I mean...I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting. There’s something nice about a book that just embraces the formula and

Absolutely loved everything about this book. Lucinda put all the things into a book that makes me lose myself in it/I devour in a couple sittings. I love Barbie. She is sassy and hilarious. I snorted at a couple places. There is also some amazing tension and butt-kicking scenes that had me on the edge of my seat. Cannot wait til book 2 is here, I will be rereading this series again and again, I can already feel it. It might have tied my favorite book by Lucinda's other pen name, which is saying ...more

An intriguing storyline that sadly ends on a cliffhanger that hints at the upheaval to come. I really like the heroine Barbie! She is seventeen, orphaned and on a vengeance seeking journey as a vampire hunter. An intrepid young girl whose life will soon be more complicated between her, her foster brother Maverick and the still human vampire hottie Torin, not to mention the nest of vampires Barbie has stirred up. Well I really want to see what happens next because vengeance has not been sated!

I really really enjoyed this book. When I started reading it, I was not really sure what to expect, Once I started, I was totally surprised. The story will grab you, keeping your interest until the very last word is read and then some. The book moves along at a very good pace making it easy for the reader to keep reading. It is not too fast nor too slow. The characters are very well written and you feel as though you have known them forever. You want o help them, no matter what. This bok needs ...more

This was my first book by Lucinda Dark, and it will definitely not be my last. The story pulled me in and refused to let go, the characters kept me wonderfully entertained, and the twist at the end took me by surprise and made me look up the release date of Book Two! The slow burn tension between Barbie, Torin, and Maverick gave me all of the tingles, and left me in eager anticipation of the next part of the story. Start this one today, and you won't be sorry!!!

Amazing, witty, sarcastic, exciting, captivating

This is the beginning of awesome series. You can tell just from the first chapter that this it is going to be amazing.

The Female MC is strong, sarcastic and will kick your ass if you cross her. She is hell bent on getting revenge for her family and she wont stop for anything until she gets what she wants. Even for two extremely delicious hotties.

I can't wait for the next book.

Absolutely. Blown. Away. Barbie is everything I wish I could be! Tough, badass and a kickass fighter. I loved everything about this book and I'm impatiently waiting for the next! The guys are hot and the sexual tension will leave you wanting more! Definitely worth the read! Dark, snark and sexy all in one bite!

Barbie is tough and won’t let her families death hold her back. She fears getting close to people since her family died. She didn’t believe her parents when they trained her and her brother how to fight and hunt vampires until the day they murdered her family in front of her. She is then sent to godparents she never knew existed. From there she has to face truths she didn’t know she had to face. It keeps you wondering who’s behind what’s going on. A must read!

F*cking Loved It!

Once you start reading you won't want to put it down. It was a unique story line that keeps you reeled in and I fucking love Barbie. She's a kick ass chick that you will want to follow. And with guys like Mac and To run you can't go wrong with this book. Can't wait for the next one.

I wasn’t sure if I would like this story, as ‘the vampire killed my family’ story is a bit played out for my tastes. But this author breathed new life into an otherwise tired trope. Barbie is unlike any FMC you’ve read before and her story is one we can all relate to, of persevering in the face of darkness and opening our hearts Again after they’ve been ripped apart. This story is a must-read!
