Spark seems like an ordinary teddy bear, until the lights are out and everyone is asleep - or until danger strikes. As a stuffed bear she is part of the League of Ursus and pledged to defend her dusa (the child who has loved her to life), Loretta. Spark's mentor, Sir Reginald, is the guardian of Loretta's older brother, Matthew When a mysterious creature begins carrying off children from their neighborhood, Spark and Sir Reginald go into action. As brave as they may be, can a few toys hope to ...more

I received an advanced copy of this through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5/4 stars.

A really great concept, with fantastic characters. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the bears and how they each took on the traits of their owners. I also enjoyed Spark's character development within the story from straight laced, naive bear to a born leader, bold and true. This is a very entertaining, at times dark, adventure that will lead the reader on a journey through fear, strife and

Children go missing and after the humans are unable to crack the case, it is up to a band of teddy bears and other toys to investigate what's happening. After discovery of monsters and other dimensions, Spark and her friends realize it will take a lot of guts and teamwork to bring their human counterparts back into our world.

Eleven year old me would have enjoyed this a ton. The whole idea of the story is wonderful and I could definitely see this having a sequel or two. Personally, I think some

I enjoyed this one a lot! The concept of warrior teddy bears just tickled my imagination and there were turns of phrase and moments that were really great.

I love the adventure and the drama of it. The ending is satisfying while at the same time leaving the opportunity for further explorations.

At times the short sentences felt a bit repetitive but mostly the structure was enjoyable and flowed well. I mean, I'm not sure how the middle grade will feel about it, honestly, but I found it to be a

Children are protected by the toys they love. When children go missing, Spark, a teddy bear, knows it is monsters. But Spark is a. young bear and she needs to call on the help of ancient society of bears as she descends into an alternate world to protect her owner. The book starts with a bang and the action never stops. Sure to be a hit with middle grade readers.

A wonderfully quirky and sweet take about the power of a child's love towards their toy. This book started out strong, but lost some of its momentum along the way. Still, it's a lovely book for fans of fantasy and magic.

This book is well written. It was enjoyable from the start. I don't want to give away any spoilers. But I want my own Spark. Highly recommend for middle grade and adults alike. Thank you so much for my ARC of this. I will cherish it forever.
PS don't change the cover!

Excellent premise for a children's novel . The story starts out strong (great opening chapter) but all in all I found some of the plot components tenuous, and I had trouble becoming immersed in the story.
