I read this over and over and over again as a very young kid, and remember it in much greater detail than I do my own childhood. Yes, my mother is concerned.

This was one of the first very influential books that I read as a boy. A great read and true story for a young adventerous mind.

Another of those books that I loved as a child. I'm pretty sure this is the one that gave me my rebellious traveling bug.

I have now read this book aloud twice to the children, it is a great read with easy to understand facts about sailing, ocean and island life and culture. With some hair raising adventures dotted in there as well as some awesome life lessons about determination, problem solving and finishing what one starts. Perfectly illustrated, a keeper.

I read this book as a kid and it planted a seed to sail the world, that just wont go away.

I liked the book because it shows that anyone could do anything they wished to do. The boy sailed around the world alone which I think is pretty amazing and interesting that I would totally do.
The only problem I had with this book is the beginning because it doesn't really describe the characters as well as they should.

I got my copy of this book as a Christmas gift in 1977. It is a lot worse for wear, but it is a fantastic to read today [@58] as it was in '77 [when I was only 11]. I will keep this book for as long as I can keep it together.

An interesting read. Surprising that a minor would venture off - and be allowed to - on a sailing trip of this magnitude.

The first book I ever enjoyed reading as a boy. Great adventure. I don't know what ever happened to it; I wish I would have kept it.
