The Audiobook is amazing. The Story?

Let’s call it like it is. This book was not written with MM readers in mind. It was written for this authors’ MF readers who would like to take a walk to the wonderful world that is MM. If you are a hardcore MM reader just avoid this book. You will be pissed and want to punch things. The story checks all the MM clichés box.

I clearly went to the wrong high school, these high schoolers got more drama than a soap opera.

-Drama! Drama! Drama! Drama.

Penn is the smart and popular football athlete, whereas Cope is an all broody alpha male from his black clothes to the tattoos which mar his body.

BEFORE READING: Sooooo this book right here is soooooo going to push me out of my comfort zone, I haven't even got an M/M shelf so that there pretty much tells you that this genre is one I've not dipped my toes into

When I heard K was coming out with a new 𝕗𝕦𝕝𝕝-𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕘𝕥𝕙 book, I was SO 𝖊𝖝𝖈𝖎𝖙𝖊𝖉. Like, legit #ϝαɳɠιɾʅ excited. This author is one of my 𝓯𝓪𝓿𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓮𝓼, but I'll admit I just нαveɴ'т loved all the novellas and co-written books she has been 🅟🅤🅑🅛🅘🅢🅗🅘🅝🅖 lately. I really think she is at her 🄱🄴🅂🅃 when she is writing 𝖋𝖚𝖑𝖑𝖞 𝖋𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖍𝖊𝖉 𝖔𝖚𝖙 stories. Needless to say, my𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼 for this one was sky high. So did it live up to those 𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼...

I was not disappointed with this friends-to-enemies-to-lovers M/M NA story.

The story had everything I expected:

- asshole-ish behavior by one of the MCs (I wanted to slap him)

- the repeated “I’m not gay” (sounds like a theme song to most gay- for-you stories)

- a beard (not of the facial variety)

- lots of family and school drama

- steamy scenes

- lots of swooning. Once the “I’m not gay” stops, these guys will have you feeling all melty inside.

The narration was fantastic!

Unfortunately, that's the last and only good thing I have to say about this book. I went from uncomfortable, to unbelieving, annoyed, offended and then all out ragey.

He wants to kiss me.
For a split second, I almost wish he would. So I could punch him in the face and not see him again for two more years.

Friends to enemies (kind of) to friends again (kind of) to lovers.

A hot story,

a coming of age drama,

a boy who fell in love with his best friend

Don’t do it.
Don’t look at him.
But I do. I always do. Because seeing what I see is worth what’s eventually shot back at me. One moment of bliss.

*Not Bad; I Liked It*

The book centers around quarterback Penn McAlister (18) and broody rebel Copeland ‘Cope’ Justice (18). Two years ago, Penn and Cope were inseparable, until Penn (in love with his best friend), in an alcohol induced state, kissed Cope (straight). This made Cope furious and felt betrayed, which ended the friendship. Now, all Penn gets from Cope is cruel, disgusting looks, which Penn craves because he'll take anything Cope'll give him. That is until Penn ends up in a fight

This was ridiculous. Every last bit of it.

No idea why or how I finished.

So many cliché's. So much drama. So much eye rolling.

Completely unrealistic.

The parents. UGH.

The ex-girlfriend. UGH.

The "fake" marriage. UGH.

Genre: New Adult M/M Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual

Penn McAlister and Copeland Justice grew up together as best friends. An incident pulled them apart and it had been eating them ever since. However, things were about to change whether they’re ready or not.

Before starting this book, I didn’t realize how young the characters were. There was a lot of drama, external and internal but I didn’t mind it because it added angst to the story.

This is all on me. I had no idea (because I didn't read the blurb or any reviews) tht this was a teen age angst story, which I absolutely do not do.

I listened to the audibook, and Jacob Morgan's voice is yummy, but I felt like a creeper because his character is 18 years old.

Super Sweet!

This was super sweet. You know I’m not a huge fan of this author (ahem The Wild) and her books have always been hit or miss but when I saw she had an MM book with an audiobook narrated by Teddy and Jacob I couldn’t pass it up. This was a cute High School best friends to lovers GFY kinda story that it definitely didn’t disappoint. And the audiobook was simply perfect! I loved both main characters. As with any HS story there’s tons of drama and intrigue, perhaps too convoluted at times

Penn McAlister and Copeland Justice have been friends since childhood, sharing in each other’s triumphs and troubles. Believing the bond between them could never be broken, it took one mistake to divide them for two painfully long years until one tumultuous moment brings them together again. As emotions run high, Penn craves to make up for lost time, but Cope still has to face the truth, leaving barriers for both to break through.

A wicked fun read.

Yes it’s full of cliches, over the top drama and antics. It’s a very teeny-bopper-type-soap-opera book and I LOVED IT all of it!!! It’s addictive as heck. Lol. I was hooked from page one.

I completely devoured this book. There was never any doubt about how much I was going to love Cope and Penn, but actually, they were so much more than I was expecting.

When the narration takes a story to the next level!

I’ll be honest: the story was OK. It didn’t blow me away. But what Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan (a new to me narrator) did with this story made it FANTASTIC!!

Their dual POV storytelling helped gloss over the flat secondary characters, the OTT behavior, and hard to swallow storylines. Their performances brought Copeland and Penn to life for me and helped to suspend my disbelief while I followed them on their bumpy and angsty road to an HEA.

I loved reading this book so much that I decided to listed to the audiobook as soon as I got it. I loved Wicked Lies Boys Tell just as much, if not more, the second time through. I was pretty much giddy with excitement by the time I finished it.

These narrators did a fantastic job. They both read their characters well and were believable. The pacing was great and they brought the story to life. I definitely recommend this book as both print and audio versions.

I really loved this book. Cope and Penn were just all things. I loved their friendship as much as their romance

The progression and the pacing of the story was good. The enemies portion of the plot, understandable. I will say that I didn’t quite understand the sudden motivation of Cope. He spent a good deal of time hating Penn, being his enemy, and then one day they will be friends. I know there was internal conflict for him over his attraction to his friend, but I wish this part

Penn & Copeland we’re best friends for 16 years until Penn kissed Copeland, ruining their friendship. “To everyone else, Copeland is another dark, deviant kid and I’m the happy jock. Two guys from different social pools. Poor Copeland Justice is unloved and rebellious and depressed. Penn McAlister is revered and adored and is going places.“ But things aren’t always what they appear to be...

I need so many more stars to rate this. Penn and Cope completely owned my damn heart from start to finished. It's been so long since I've delved into an MM romance and I'm so happy to have a K Webster book to get back in to this genre with. The angst, the tension, and the suspense held me hostage until the early hours of the morning just to see how this story would end.

Webster takes on a very real, emotional journey with Penn and Cope, and I'm absolutely blown away. I'm an emotional mess taking
This was an epic read. K surely delivered a good old fashioned romance with a f@cking hea. But she brought the heat. There was a lot of work to get to their bond, the hardship and fear was worth it. Great job, no complaints really.
