Only she can awaken an icy warlord’s immortal heart, but can she survive the aftermath.
Dark warlord Sebris will sacrifice anything to save his angelic dominion of Dregarus, even shed his own blood. Snatching the foretold mortal from her world is nothing—as long as she can find the missing artifact their realm desperately needs to survive. He expects a mere pawn, not a fragile human woman who confuses and tempts him, stirring in him a desire that is as dangerous as it’s deadly.
After a freak accident lands florist Brenna Graham in a coma, she awakens to find herself in another world and in the care of a cold, ruthless immortal. The Darkrean leader both draws and terrifies her. Still, she’s furious over the abduction she unwittingly agreed to. But the longer she’s with him, the more she discovers an unexpected, tender side to the icy warlord. As barriers shatter and rigid laws are broken, an unabiding passion consumes them.
Except, time is not on their side in the dying, war-ridden world. But for a chance at a future and an ever-lasting love, they must fight for survival. When unseen enemies target Brenna, their bond is brutally tested. Sebris vows to bring down dominions to save the woman who became his heart…
A slow burn romance with a snarky heroine and an icy warlord.
Georgia Lyn Hunter loves to create characters who’ll take you to the far and beyond to unforgettable adventures, steamy encounters and heart-stopping love stories…
She grew up in the tropical climate of South Africa and currently lives abroad with her family.
Just as good as the first time I read it. I absolutely love Seb and Brenna so so much😭 I hope Xever and Shera finally get together, he's waited 2000 years for her while she's struggled to stay alive!
First Read on 27th December 2022
I absolutely love Seb and Brenna together.
He's cold and unfeeling, exactly what is required to rule the world he lives in, but also cares deeply for the people that live in it. He will also melt like butter for the only woman in his life and go to any lengths to save her. She is the sweetest friend you could have and is the perfect match for him. She brings out the heat in him and also sees the person beneath that icy exterior. (Who knew the intractable warlord would have a dirty mouth on him🫣)
The world building was amazing and though there were tiny inconsistencies and editing errors, Winter's Awakening is still a favourite and the best out of all the 4 books I've read so far. I also have to assume that Brenna was half-Indian or atleast of Indian origin (yayyyy) because of her last name, but I can't know for sure since it wasn't touched upon. I wish we had more backstory of her background like we did Seb's. The whole thing with the Drega and exploring not just the romance, but also the different parts of the overarching plot was 🤌 GLH has outdone herself with this one.
The desperate search continues for the missing artifacts as another mortal is stolen from her world in hopes of gaining another piece to saving the angelic world, as well as that of humanity. This time, Georgia Lyn Hunter takes us into the world of the Darkreans as a frigid and domineering warlord finds his heart thawing to the “mere” mortal woman whose passions blaze with attitude, inner strength and a determination NOT to be controlled or held captive.
WINTER’S AWAKENING is another gift from Georgia Lyn Hunter’s incredible imagination and storytelling as Sebris finds Brenna to be more than a simple human, and his heart is stolen against all rules and she becomes more than the vessel to save the world.
This world may be frigid and icy, but get ready for the heat as these two discover that love is found when you least expect it and its power is world changing! Brilliant characters come to life, danger is around every corner and unexpected alliances are made as discoveries are unearthed!
If you like your heroines with a ton of sass, a lot of daring and a huge heart, you are going to love Brenna while Sebris is that “warlord” who never stands a chance!
Once again, the tension runs high as truths are revealed, rules are broken and the fate of the world is in peril! Amazing scenes are drawn, characters come to life and the reality fades away as Georgia Lyn Hunter does what she does best, tell a story that is spellbinding and fresh!
I received a complimentary copy from Georgia Lyn Hunter! This is my honest and voluntary review.
I absolutely loved this story!! I loved all of the detail that we get in Georgia Lyn Hunter's books! I fell in love with getting to see the Dregarus world this time around. This is the second book in the series and while it does follow an over-arcing story line, I believe it can be read as a standalone. This also has a little bit of a crossover with the Guardian Series that Georgia Lyn Hunter writes as well. This is just an added bonus if you have read those books. I loved getting to dive deep into this world. We get to know the characters and see them deal with everything coming at them. This book is a little on the longer side compared to a lot of other books that are publishing but I think that it was needed to do justice to this story. The book did not feel like it dragged on or was too long. I loved getting to learn the world with Brenna. This story has a great flow and is very smooth. Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop. I had figure out what was going to happen next and how everything was going to come together. There are twists and turns within this story with the action and the intrigue along with the romance. It all blends together to create this awesome story that I absolutely adored! I can't wait for the next book to come out! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I had forgotten how immersive the world building is in Georgia Lyn Hunter's books. From the first word on the page, you are pulled into the story and you never want it to end. Also, I loved the characters. When you meet Brenna, she's a fragile mortal and is in a different world than her own, dealing with a warlord who was cold to her from the moment she awoke. And Sebris, who is trying to save his dominion, scoffs at the fact that an mortal as weak as Brenna could find the missing artifact he needs.
The character arcs for both Brenna and Sebris is distinct and I loved how they grew closer, despite their early doubts after meeting one another. Their connection is palpable and I enjoyed reading how their feelings for one another deepened as the story continued. A great read and a lovely romance!
The Darkrean leader, Sebris is one of my favorites, alongside Aethan, the immortal guardian. And I was thrilled to see Aethan make an appearance in this thrilling installment of Georgia Lyn Hunters, 'Warlords of Empyrea' series. I liked the fragile Brenna, a human lacking power, which had Sebris watching over her like a dark hawk, but she could hold her own in his realm. As with all of this series, the book is full of fast-paced action, a great plot with dazzling Darkreans and hot, hot, intimate scenes.
If you like action, beauty, mystery, superhero angels then you'll love Winter's Awakening!
I've been a huge fan of The Fallen Guardians and Warlords series for quiiiite a while now, and get so excited when a new one comes out because I know it's going to be amazing. This one was absolutely no exception. It was so good! Brenna and Sebris were awesome and I love that you see so many characters from the other books who all know each other and all come together with a common goal. The background characters and side stories are interesting and engaging, but I absolutely love Brenna and Sebris together, and getting to see Brenna come into her own was awesome. Seriously, I loved it, and I already can't wait for the next one 😍
I know I’ll love anything that Ms. Hunter writes and I wasn’t wrong, I loved “Winter’s Awakening”. I have been looking forward to the next book and I absolutely loved Sebris and Brenna together. Their journey wasn’t an easy one but it was so worth it in the end. If you haven’t read anything by Georgia Lyn Hunter I highly recommend you give her a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I give this book 5 stars.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I absolutely loved this action packed book! The hot steamy scenes were fantastic and ice melting. We have sweet, romance loving Brenna being taken by Mr Icicle himself. It seems Brenna is one of the Chosen too. She has suffered a head injury after the goddess who was after Eve caused an accident. She willingly went to Dregarus with Sebris so she can recover. He has to convince her to help him save his world and he has to keep her safe. She is a little spitfire and starts melting Mr Icicle. I loved the Glossary being in the front of this book. I referred back to it quite often.
The realm of dark warlord Sebris is dying. No children have been born in 2000 years. A fragile mortal woman must find an artifact to save his world. A frozen world where just a few minutes could mean the demise of his captive.
A magical world of curses, rebels, cold and destined mates. Intricate story which will keep you breathless from beginning to end. I can’t recommend this story enough!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
The 2nd book in this series! I LOVE everything this author writes! Only one thing I don't like is waiting for the next book BUT it is well worth the wait!!! If you haven't read you need to start now and don't miss out!!! First series Fallen Guardians is AWESOME then going into this one just can't stop reading!!! Thank you Miss Geogia for creating this world to get lost from reality for awhile! You are amazing!!! One more thing....I love this book cover! I love all your book covers but this is my favorite so far!!!
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy... I've been patiently waiting for book 2 and miss Georgia Lyn did not disappoint!!! Let me tell you I was engaged from beginning to end!!😍 She has a way to captivate you with her writing... Seb and brenna's story made me laugh, cry, and of course the steamy parts were the absolute best!!!! This is a must read!! I love Georgia Lyn Hunter😍 She is my number one favorite author!!! I can't wait to see what comes next!!!
Georgia Lyn Hunter’s second installment in her Warlords of Empyrea series continues the story of the search for the magic of the Stone of Light. Hunter proves that the bad guy isn’t really as bad as you think and the villain from the first book is more than redeemable. Tight writing, engaging characters and the ability to feel the growing soul bond of Brenna and Sebris make this an enthralling read.
I read this book straight after book 1 of the Warlords of Empyrea series, and it didn't disappoint. Brenna is human and after an accident, she is kidnapped by Sebris an immortal Darkrean and transported to his icy world. This book is fast paced, sexy and exciting. The storyline blends well with book 1 and I can't wait for the next book. I have a desperate need to know if the immortal world is saved
I couldn't wait to start reading this book and was not let down.... it's a great second book in this series it's well written with great characters like the first book and a brilliant storyline which follows on from book one. Needlessly to say I was hooked from.start to finish. And I can not wait for the third
I want to crawl into this series. All the possessive males and their bonds. This is such an intriguing story and the magic is so different and I need more cause I'm so ready for babies to return to the realms!! I NEED MORE ANSWERS
And what can I say say about book 2, beside that I liked so much of this anti-hero!! Sebris it's so cold and ruthless that you feel worried about Brenna. But she's the perfect match for him Well let's see what Georgia will give us next!!
I loved the first book in this series and I really loved this one. The hero, Sebris gives off villain vibes in the first book, which made me want to read Winter’s Awakening. I love morally grey heroes. But once I got into it, Sebris isn’t really morally grey but I was already completely taken by him. What he does possess is an exterior of ice, but he’s had to have that kind of exterior in order to take care of his people. He is a Darkrean in this realm. They have been in a battle for thousands of years with the Empyreans for control of this world. The hero of the first book was an Empyrean.
This is a fascinating realm Ms. Hunter is creating and very well developed but as you learn more of the world building as the stories progress, and you need to read this series, I’m going to try not to be too confusing.
The was this magical stone that has the ability to help heal the dying world of Empyrea and we learn that this stone which has a life of its own travels to Earth where it breaks into pieces and the pieces enter a number of human women. This is revealed at the end of the first book and this book is the story of Brenna, the second woman bearing a piece of the stone and a very good friend of the heroine of the first book. This book opens with Sebris having captured Brenna and taken her to his home in Empyrea in order to get her help. But because he’s locked down all feelings he kind of handles things all wrong with her. He’s very inconveniently attracted to her as she is to him. But Sebris is determined, once he gets what he needs from her, he will return her to her home.
I just love seeing tough as nails Sebris being felled by his growing love and respect for Brenna. And I love seeing Brenna come into her own as a strong and capable heroine. These two are so perfect for each other but they don’t realize it for a while. I love the politics and world building. Both factions of Empyreans slowly realize they need to work together to defeat a common enemy bent on destroying both their kingdoms. But trust doesn’t come easy after so many years as enemies. Because of this, the hero/heroine of the first book play important roles in this one as well. As already mentioned, the world building is incredible and I found it very difficult to put this book down. I had a couple of late reading nights. I picked this one up free on KU but I think I’m going to purchase them so I can reread them anytime. I’ve picked up the next book. I was planning on reading another book in between but I need to keep going with these enthralling kingdoms.
It is more than 400 pages long, but I still didn't want it to end that's how good it was. Both the H and h are such well developed characters. My eyes are gritty but it was well worth losing the sleep over. Now on to kataya's story. The name itself is so beautiful
I loved this book and how Brennas love changed Seb and how she was able to make the changes to his domain I also like the fact that Aethan was a part of the dyory
I'm so happy I discovered this talented paranormal author. She has a deft touch with story telling and creating deep emotional ties among characters. This was Sebris and Brenna's story, and it was a doozy!
A lot of the story took place in Dregarus, the realm of the Darkreans. It's a cold and snowy world, and the people are in the middle of a civil war. They are also affected by the missing stones, since Dregarus is part of Empyrea. What we learn during this story is that the Darkreans aren't the villains they have been portrayed as. They are intelligent, brave and layered people with a deep commitment to saving their world. Brenna has magic in her that's important to Dregarus and while she learns about her fate, she falls for the people of the realm.
I loved the way Hunter connects characters from the other book in this story. We revisited characters that helped move the story forward, and the world building continued to be stellar. Again, the mythology is simple enough to follow, and there is a fabulous glossary in the beginning of the book. But it's still written with the intelligent reader in mind. Devoid of cliches and full of fascinating character insight, this book doesn't dumb anything down. Hunter treats the reader with just as much love and respect as her characters. The relationship between Sebris and Brenna slowly built, and the updates during the story were realistic and beautifully drawn. There were a couple of colloquillisms that weren't native to NYC, so I would only say that the editor needs to be careful. But they did NOT ruin my experience with this phenomenal book.
I'm fully invested in Hunter's books, including the characters from her Guardian series. Extraordinarily beautiful and wondrous, this book is another great book in a memorable series.
Review of Winter’s Awakening By Georgia Lyn Hunter
This is a fabulous masterpiece! From the very first, this story will captivate you.
Never have I read a book in which the ‘creator of the world’ is so cursed and hated as Empyrea’s. Can’t really blame them, for the ‘creator’ just stopped caring about them. After creating the sentients, the God just wandered off. And now everything is falling apart.
Children are no longer being born. Sentients from their own world are attacking Empyrea. And Empyrea fights among itself, as well. Lies and deceit are everywhere.
Now other worlds are pulled into their troubles, as well. Especially, Earth. Someone is paying humans to sell weapons of war and cause serious damage, such as killing the sacred Rean Forest, kidnapping people, etc.
To be honest, Empyrea is in dire straits.
Sebris, who is not just a great protector of his world, but technically is the leader of his world, too, (only he lets someone else stand in his place as leader,) and he needs to find the seventh missing Stone.
So, he heads to earth with a team of warriors, and falls for Brenna, a florist. Brenna has no clue that she is special and keeps insisting that she is not. However, she does agree to help Sebris find the missing Stone. Only it turns out the artifact has been shattered on Earth and the scattered magic sought several earth women to house it.
You’ll meet lots of interesting people, some human, some immortals, and a few Gods. You’ll discover that the “superior” immortals behave no better than humans and some of them behave far worse.
But most of all, you’ll be enthralled and enchanted with this fabulous story.
I can't get enough of Ms Hunter's story telling and how she engages her readers with such brilliant writing, plots, suspense, action packed and of course a touch of steam. The second part of this series was well worth the wait. I couldn't stop turning pages fast enough as I was on the edge of my seat. I loved it when Ms Hunter incorporates Aethan into the story as Dregarus is part of Empyrea. Sebris is the Dark Warlord who needs to kidnap Brenna, a florist who's ability is needed to locate the missing artifact that is detrimental to Dregarus' survival. An accident landed Brenna is a coma and when she woke up she was shocked that she was taken to a different dimension. Sebris did not expect Brenna to be so beautiful by yet fragile. Sebris is a hard man to understand and his heart is so closed that Brenna may be the one to open it up. Will the artifact be found? Will Sebris and Brenna get their HEA? You will have to one click and find out. I can't wait for the next installment of the series.
I swear I feel like I have waited forever for this story and boy was it worth the wait!! I LOVED Brenna in Eve's story with her undying optimism and Enormous Belief in Fated Love. Of course she needed her own story with an unfeeling Warlord who needed to have his frozen heart thawed by Brenna's Love..
Sebris rules over Dregarus and the Darkreans which the Empryeans deem to be their sworn enemies and the bad guys. The land is always in winter. Sebris thinks Brenna is the one who will lead him to a missing artifact from his world after testing her blood. He finds so much more than he bargains for with her though. Brenna is Sebris heart and conscious and she teaches him about love. I loved the full development of the story and the change he underwent and discoveries made. I can't wait to read more the Darkreans and Empryeans as they try to save their world. I volunteered to read this book.
I wish I had read Book 1! This is an enthralling story of a war-torn world that Brenna unexpectedly finds herself in. I really enjoyed her story - it was captivating and entertaining, with the powerful Lord Sebris finding himself falling head over heels, willing to do anything to keep Brenna safe. He's the ultimate control freak, and he was the epitome of sexy, broody alpha! This was a slow-burn romance that heated up towards the second half, but it was fun getting there. Great world-building and a great cast of characters!
GEORGIA LYN! I DID NOT WANT TO LIKE, much less love Sebris!!! But, alas, as usual you wrote our hero (antihero) so beautifully how could I not ...??? *sigh* ... His savagery. Ruthlessness. Cold brutality.... all tampered by a weak human. Brenna’s pure light was a refreshing breath of confidence. Using her grace to calm the ice storm that is Seb. She’s Not some weak female but a solid affirmation of goodness in a bleak harsh cruel realm. PHENOMENAL!
Brenna wakes and discovers she's not where she thinks she is. I have not read many PNR stories but this series has shown me I enjoy them. Sebris is a strong leader, but finds his heart is melting for the human he has put himself in charge of. Now he has to decide if he can keep her alive and make her his. Brenna has to decide if she can give up her life for this creature who says he can't love, but keeps showing her the opposite every time they are together.
