5 Star review of Protected in Darkness (Misplaced Halos #1) by Nicole Edwards

Do you believe in Angels? I freely admit that paranormal stories are not one of my go to genres to read. However when I learnt that Nicole Edwards, an author I love, was writing paranormal series, I knew I had to read. I was intrigued as to how she would write this series and I was not disappointed.

I will be honest and admit I was a tad confused at first, but once I got my head around the terminology/names used I was

“Once we do come to face-to-face with the one destined for us, the interactions are far more intense, a phenomenon that engulfs both souls, intertwining them, making it physically impossible to keep any sort of distance, both physically and emotionally. When we mate, we do so for eternity. Most importantly, without our amsouelot, we would have no reason to live. In essence, we would be nothing.”

Nicole Edwards is known for her scorching hot and boundary pushing romances. Her books are downright

What I love most about the settings and worlds created in the paranormal romance genre is their richness…their complexity…their contradictory qualities. And the backstory that’s required to be told in order to understand the diversity of the plot and to fully comprehend exactly what the heroes and heroines are up against when it comes to their fight against evil and darkness.

Celestial beings - angels and demons - have a volatile and complicated relationship - one that is about so much more than

Do you believe in angels? If you don't now you might after you read Nicole's new story.

Angels warriors exist to protect us from evil. We don't know who they are but we should be happy since they protect us when we need it. Lucifer likes to cause havoc on earth and it is up to the angel warriors to eliminate the demons.

This is Nicole 's first book in the paranormal genre and I have to say she should be proud of giving us a great story. To me this is original since it isn't anything I have read

I thought this book was well written and For her first paranormal, Nicole did a good job.
The word descriptions for the characters world, were very good and the characters were very thought out, and completely lovable and sexy as hell .... I cant wait for the next book in this series

Great start to this new series by Nicole Edwards. She writes great contemporary. I just knew this was going to be just as wonderful. PNR is my go to genre. So I really had high expectations from this book. I was not disappointed.

Absolutely brilliant!
This is a new twist on paranormal and a dynamite story line. I thought the characters were very unique and intriguing. Great chemistry, great writing.
This is a great start to a smoking hot new series.

I was blown away and in such a fantastic way.

I have been a fan of Nicole’s since 2012 and have every one of her books, but when I heard she was trying a new genre, paranormal, I was a bit skeptical. Paranormal was so different from her other books, and to write a book where are already fabulous authors out there who rock this subject, I just couldn’t understand why she wanted to go there. Boy oh boy, I am so glad she took this one, Nicole ROCKED IT! She caught me at the first few sentences and

While Nicole Edwards is one of my top 5 favorite authors (the order is fluid and those top 5 shift as my mood changes and new books are released), this is her first foray into paranormal romance. Which is funny since she’s the one that got me back into the genre a couple years ago. Being a super-fan means I also subscribe to her newsletter and she sometimes tells us what she’s reading. She got me hooked on Rebecca Zanetti when I decided to give one of her recommendations a try. (There are also ...more

I have read all of Nicole Edwards books and this was one of my absolute favorites. This new world she has created is amazing and all the characters are larger than life. The brothers that the world revolves around couldn’t be more different than one another yet you can also see that they will do anything for each other, all while giving one another endless amounts of grief about it.
This first story is Obsidian’s who happens to be the oldest and leader of the group of what is called the

Wow!! Just Wow!! Nicole Edwards decides to take a dip into the paranormal genre with Protected in Darkness, but she did not dip, she jumped right on in!! This book was fantastic!! Yes it is the start of a series, but this book is so different from other paranormal books that I have read. The premises of the book is so different. There are 7 brothers...or rather Angels who need to find their soulmates (amouselots) or else...and yeah, since we are talking angels, demons, vampires and the like, we ...more

As a big fan of Nicole Edwards, anything new that comes out is a must read for me. Her ability to draw you into the story line and "feel" the characters of each series is what sets her apart from any other author I have read.

This is the first book in a new paranormal series, Misplaced Halos.
This book starts out with a history of these "Fallen Angels" or "Misplaced Halos" as they are referred to. They were sent years ago to protect humankind from the demons and other worldly creatures that roam

Protected in Darkness is Nicole Edwards' first paranormal! I love a good angel, demon, vampire romance and I believe Nicole did a fantastic job! I was pulled in from the very start and didn't want to stop reading until the very end. Every character is intriguing, with a story that begs to be told. It's a series, so I know we will get all the stories we crave. But first up is Obsidian and Penelope. He's the first Warrior Angel created and sent to Earth. His brothers have been created and they ...more

3.5 stars for - Protected in Darkness - book one in the Misplaced Halos series by Nicole Edwards. This is the start of a new series and Ms. Edwards first ever paranormal romance which is one of my favorite genres when done right. I went into this book hoping I would love it like I do all of her work but there was a lot going on and it got confusing more than once which caused me to have to go back an reread parts to try and figure out what exactly was going on. The only other issue I had was ...more

Protected in Darkness is the first book in the Misplaced Halos series written by Nicole Edwards. I enjoy paranormal romances and was excited to be a part of Nicole’s review team, as this is an entirely new genre for Nicole. I love Nicole Edward’s book and I was not disappointed! This first book establishes the setting for the series and provides a new set of terminology and unusual names. Nicole does provide a glossary at the back of the book for this terminology which I have to admit I referred ...more

I'm a HUGE fan of Nicole Edwards. I've devoured every single books this phenomenal author has published and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little bit skeptical when she announced she was writing her first ever paranormal romance. My skepticism took a backseat within the first few pages of "Protected by Darkness." This book has all of the yummy bits of a Nicole Edwards book - engaging storyline, deep characters, tension and hot, hot, hot romance - in a world that angels, demons, and ...more

I have had a fascination with Angels most of my life, so when one of my favorite authors is writing a paranormal romance featuring Angels, I was over the moon! This is Edwards's first book in the paranormal department and I think she did an awesome job.

Most of what I know of Angels I have read in books and of course seen on t.v. and movies. Edwards puts a totally new spin on the Angels in her book. Maybe because of Obsidian and his six brothers were made to keep humans safe from demons sent to

I enjoy paranormal reads but don't usually choose to read them regularly but as I adore Nicole Edwards' writing I decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed. Although this is Nicole's first paranormal book, it was an excellent foray into the genre. The mythology surrounding her story was well conceived and thought out giving the reader a rounded experience.

Obsidian is an angel but is referred to as the Misplaced Halos. They were sent to Earth to protect humans from Lucifer’s demons. They are not allowed to interact with the humans unless they are their amsouelot, their soul mate. In Heaven there is a list of the angels mates but it gets leaked to Lucifer and he is sending demons to kill them. If an angel and his soul mate mates first, then the soul resides in heaven. Penelope is a waitress in Las Vegas, she moved to be closer to her twin brother. ...more

Ok first and foremost I'll immediately have to do a re-read of this epic tale. Not because it was difficult to understand or fall in love with Obsidian and Penelope but because starting this amazing debut PNR novel from Nicole Edwards whilst on a week long Mediterranean cruise with a sightseeing loving husband is not my idea of 'being immersed' in a new reading adventure.

Fortunately, a sunny day and a destination we've visited before, resulted in uninterrupted reading time allowing me the

Let me start by saying that I don’t usually read paranormal romance, but I do like this genre on occasion. When I found out that Nicole Edwards was going to dip her toes into the paranormal pool, I was waiting anxiously to see what she would have in store for us. I have to say, she did not disappoint! I devoured this book and want more of this family like yesterday!

This book is a take on angels and demons and how they roam around us on earth. The story is centered on Obsidian who is an angel

Protected in Darkness is Nicole’s first forage into paranormal romance. I’m usually into vampires and shifters but this is Angels and Demons. But since I’m a big fan of Nicole’s books, when she was asking for volunteers to read and review, I didn’t hesitate.

Well let me tell you: She. Blew. Me. Away!!

This is the beginning of an amazing series. I absolutely loved this book.

This is a series I will continue reading. That’s a given.

I’m very picky when it comes to paranormal books. But when one of your fav authors releases one with a very interesting blurb, then I’m game. But I did have some minor issues with it. I’ve been lost now and then.

The storyline is very interesting and intriguing. Obsidian and Penelope are very different characters and the way they are/will be connected has been a page turner for me.
Obsidian’s family and inner circle is an interesting bunch

Nicole Edward's first Paranormal Romance! As I am a huge fan of Nicole's books, I really enjoyed it! Warrior Angels, vampires, fairies, demons, yup! All covered! Seven brothers, warrior angels, have been told that the list that shows who their soul mates for life, have been stolen and the demons are out to get to them to steal their souls for Lucifer. Since their soulmates are humans, they are all in a mad search to find them, and make them realize that this is what was meant to be, them to be ...more

This book is a new foray for this author. Since I have loved all her other books, and paranormal is a favorite genre of mine, I figured it would be a win-win situation for me to read this book. And I wasn't wrong. There is so much going on in this book, with building the new world and all the new characters. Although the book focuses on the two main characters, Penelope and Obsidian, you also get the beginning of the soulmate search for a few of his brothers. And of course, the HEA.

Nicole Edward’s first book Protected in Darkness in her new paranormal genre series was beyond fantastic. I have loved everything this author has come out with and this new genre is no different. Not up to much

To be honest here the author has had a massive job in getting the backstory integrated into the book but it could still have fit into a hundred less pages.
There was the getting used to weird names and hierarchy, which was a slog given there are a potential 70 characters.
Then there was the sex. Every other page. I'm no prude but it just got so repetitive I skipped the paragraphs.
There was so little happening in between the sex it was ridiculous and the main demon vanished three
