Holiday Romance

Monica Murphy brings christmas cheer and LOVE in her latest release, Holidate! Man, I really loved this book. I've been a fan of her books for years now but I have to admit I think this series is a favorite of mine. Perhaps it's the fact that each book deals with some sort of fake relationship? Or that the characters who end up falling for one another are complete opposites. Either way, each and every one/>/>

This was a fun holiday story about two people not looking for love but finding it when they least expect it. Charlie runs his family’s Christmas tree business and is an all-around grumpy guy. He never makes time for anything but work. Candice loves the holidays! She is approached by Charlie’s mom to help him as he attends social events on behalf of the business. Candice looks at this as a challenge and throws herself in to it. As they make their way around the social scene, they grow closer and ...more

Every year, I drive my family nuts with Christmas movies starting November 1st. I just love them! Always have. I love Holidate because it's so like those movies and because the cover is so perfectly done. Candice loves Christmas and giving and is full of Christmas cheer. Charlie hates Christmas and prefers the compan

As soon as fall rolls around I become a sucker for holiday romances, I just can't help myself. I knew I wanted to read Holidate as soon as I saw the cover. Romance, a Christmas tree farm, grinchy man, heart-of-gold girl...yes I will take a one way ticket please. And this book did not disappoint! It had all the cheesy-ness of a Hallmark movie and all the tender moments of a Monica Murphy novel, a recipe for endless swooning.

5 Star Review of Holidate (Dating #3)by Monica Murphy

What’s not to love? Christmas is the most magical time of the year. It’s a time to reflect and celebrate life.

Candice Gaines is my kind of woman, just like me she loves anything to do with Christmas.

Charlie Sullivan on the other hand is just like my husband and dislikes Christmas. Ironically his family owns a Christmas Tree Farm.

When circumstances bring Candice and Charlie together attending some holi

So cute and sweet with a push and pull between the hero and heroine that I loved! This is the perfect get-you-in-the-mood-for-the-holidays story! I didn't want it to end. <3

I have adored this world that Monica Murphy has created! This is a standalone, but shares characters with Save the Date and Fake Date. There is just something about these warm, gushy romances that makes me want more of them! Candice and Charlie's story is no exception.
I loved Candice's innocence and sweetness. She just likes people and likes to make them happy.
And Charlie... He's like finding a diamond in an old mine. Just need to polish him up a little bit.

My favourite time of year is Christmas so I was excited to read this book. One of my favourite things to do during Christmas is watch the cheesy Christmas movies on Hallmark and this book was definitely a cheesy Hallmark movie.

The author's description on the famous tree farm was perfect, I was able to read and envision all its beauty. She captured Candace and Charles' relationship so perfectly it made me wish there was a movie like it.

Holidate is my first book by this author and in this series, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything. It's clear while reading that some of the characters in the story are from previous books, but I didn't feel left out. That being said, I am curious about the first two books and plan on picking them up.

But back to Holidate! Our main character, Candice, loves everything Christmas. Her mother left her money when she passed away, so she doesn't have to work.

“If he’s trying to make me cry even more, then he just succeeded.
Who knew Charlie the Grinch actually has a heart?”

Candice loves Christmas. The end of the year is a busy date on her calendar, with countless parties and philanthropic events. This outgoing, chatty, and kind-hearted young woman makes her charity events her primary goal. With the death of her mother, she inherited a huge fortune, which provides her lifestyle. With so much free time, helping others occupies her mind. A

Holidate is the third book in the Dating series and we met the heroine, Candice, in book two, as she is Jared's sister. I so enjoyed the first books in this series, so I was excited to get my hands on this one!

Candice Gaines loves Christmas. She is involved with just about anything she can be in order to bring Christmas cheer to those in her hometown.

I love a good holiday romance story. Holidate has alll the makings of a Hallmark feel to it. I'm a secret sucker for those and I felt all the cheer of the season here. Starts out with Charlie the Grinch and Candice the lover of the season. Charlie's mom asked Candice to help with her son. Owning a tree farm is a perfect setting for this. Charlie is all about his work and not really the Christmas spirit and joyful feeling it gives Candice. They didn't get along first and Charlie is determined to ...more

I'm not going to lie to anyone, I don't love Christmas. I am pretty grinchy and I definitely share some of the same feelings as Charlie in this book. So when I saw the description of this book I was concerned, but as always, I trust Monica to give me something I love. This was no exception. I actually ended up liking this book WAY more than I expected and even got a little teary eyed at the end. It was the perfect holiday read. Charlie can be quite smug at certain times, "he smirks at me, like he knew I was checking out his junk. “Jeans and a sweater? I can manage that.” Charlie is always trying to be helpful, “where’s he at? Want me to kick his *** for you? Call him out in front of everyone and humiliate him?” Charlie is sometimes shocked by his woman, “not really. I kept it long on top. Just for you.” His arms sneak beneath my coat to go around my waist, his hands making contact with my exposed back. “What the eff ar ...more

Holiday Romance lovers rejoice! For everyone anxiously awaiting the season to start, rest easily. Holidate, a super cute and sweet standalone, is the perfect read to get everyone looking forward to the Christmas season. Well, folks, this is my first-holiday book to review this season. And it was a good one to read. Ask anyone and I’m not big on Christmas anymore except for my son. It’s a long story and I don’t really want to get into right now. I used to love the holiday season, just like Candice, just not anymore. What really set this apart for me is that it was centered around a Christmas tree farm. While most people would find this funny, I don’t typically read holiday-themed books. I’m not a Grinch, just do ...more

I loved Monica Murphy's "Holidate" and would certainly recommend it. At one point, Candice, the female main character, tells one of her friends that she thinks her life is "about to become a Hallmark Christmas movie," and I would have to agree with that assessment. I could definitely see this book translating to that type of movie!

I loved Candice as a supporting character in the previous book in this series, and she really shines as the lead character here. She consistently comes acr
First of all, I have loved the entire "Dating" series by Monica Murphy. However, that said, you don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one. It truly does read very easily as a standalone.

Holidate gives us Candice, a young woman who received a trust fund when her mother passed away. Her mother wanted to be sure her daughter would always be taken care of. Instead of being the spoiled little rich girl one would imagine, she is very caring and giving. She is a supporter of s

Holidate by Monica Murphy is the third book in The Dating Series. This fun, dynamic series is based on the complications of the modern day dating world, alpha heroes who are clueless with the world of relationships and romance but experts in the bedroom. It takes a strong willed woman to put up with these heroes.

Candice Gaines may seem like a meek heiress spending her time working on one charity after another but that is only a general impression. Beneath the sugar and spice is a strong willed woman who is co

This was a sweet, very Hallmark-esque holiday story that was enjoyable. Both Candace and Charlie were great characters. Candace loves Christmas and I loved that about her. She was sweet, spunky, so kind to everyone and also a bit lonely. She devotes so much of her time and money for their community so she doesn’t think too much of what she had lost. Charlie on the other hand is the complete opposite, he is the equivalent to the Grinch. He is very jaded with the holiday season and just wants to b ...more

I loved this charming, Christmas romance. It was filled full of christmas wonder, parties, and cheer, as well as some cheesy christmas traditions, heartfelt moments, character vulnerability, and a sweet romance story. It will make you smile, mad, tingle, laugh and swoon and maybe shed a tear or two.

It might be a little early for a holiday romance, but I couldn’t help myself.

This author has created a cute, sweet romance that appeals to my most fervent Christmas spirit. It features musical oldies, festive clothes, pine trees, lit-up decorations, and traditions upheld in a community of families and local businesses. Even a perfect gingerbread latte. You can't go wrong with that 😉

Holi-date is a super sweet romance set around the Christmas season. The perfect story to set the mood for the holiday season and add a little warmth to cold days.

The main characters are complex and as such a little difficult to understand what drives them and how their personalities were shaped. Especially with their views of festive celebrations.

On the surface, it would appear Candice and Charlie are complete opposites; while Charlie may be Grinch-like on the surface he

This book is a hallmark movie in waiting. Seriously. Hallmark - you need to make this movie now.

The best part is that Candice even comments that her life is about to become a Hallmark movie at one point. And it does! Candice is bright, happy and extremely capable. She was clearly a little bit lost in life, losing her mom at age 8. But has a loving family and a great relationship with her step mother. She also has a trust fund to live off of. To say that Candice Gaines loves Christmas would be an understatement. She lives it, she breathes it, and she helps bring it to life in her local area. She donates much of her time and money to the various charities. Charlie Sullivan on the other hand is not such a fan of Christmas. Sure his family sells Christmas trees, and their Christmas tree farm is the main provider of trees in their area, but he just feels it’s all too much and commercialized. A cute from start to finish holiday romance with two "couldn't be more opposite" characters who are somehow perfect for each other. Candice is the type who throws her entire self into her charity and philanthropic work, but I couldn't figure if she did it because she truly loves it, or because she's trying to emulate her late mother. Either way, she thrives in that element and it's clear to see how well she does during the holiday events she's a part of. But she's also insecure when it comes to ...more

Candice Gaines is extremely busy during the holiday season with copious amounts of volunteer work. Being in her early 20's and still living at home, she has plenty of free time to fill, or more accurately distract herself from missing her mom who she lost to cancer when she was little.
